Wonderful location, great staff and the ponies on site were a highlight. Loved sitting on our patio enjoying the view.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Refuge Inn. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The pool, sauna, and exercise room were very nice to have available as the weather for our three day stay was not the best. The little extras, like the deck, beautiful landscaping and the horses make the Refuge the perfect choice. We hope to come back someday.

We loved this place! There is much care in the little things. Real furniture in the room, enough towels, nice soap and shampoo, coffee and tea all day, nice pool, and just that extra touch with everything. It is walkable distance to the National Park and just enough away from the busy beach stores. Staff was very helpful!

The entore place was charming. The staff were nice, the breakfast delivered to the room was a great perk.

The Refuge Inn is the place to stay if you really want to relax near the park and have interactions by the pool with other interesting visitors like yourself! Bike Rental next store puts you in the driver's seat to visit the Wildlife Refuge right across the causeway.

It was nice beds comfortable,shower hot,pool clean,staff friendly,affordable . I liked the horses in pen!Only thing I didnt like about hotel no microwave in room.The island had plenty of places to shop and eat .Mcdonalds next door.Didnt see any wild horses at this end of Assateague but several on Maryland side .Got ate up by mosquitos especially near lighthouse.

This is our second time traveling to Chincoteague and both times we stayed at the Refuge Inn! We absolutely love it here. The most important thing to me is cleanliness, and the rooms are spotless here. The location and property is beautiful and allows you to truly escape the business of life. We look forward to returning next year

Great stay with our kids, loved the indoor/outdoor pool, clean rooms, great location, and had a Tesla charger which was a win! My kids already want to go back!

Last stop before entering the island. Made it very easy to bike around. Enjoyed the flowers and landscaping and the hot tub was nice after a day out on the island. Breakfast was nice idea but sandwich was stale.

Nice place, nice staff. It would have been nice if it had an elevator if only for loading and unloading your luggage.

Everything about this place is great except that the floor in our room was durty and they don't clean it when they come to pick up the trash as well as the AC and the mini refrigerator were so laud we ended up turning them off so we can sleep. Thanks God nights were cooler. Not sure if all rooms are like this. Other than that very friendly and welcoming people.

Have not stayed at The Refuge Inn for years and was delighted to find that it remains such an excellent accommodation and so close to the National Seashore and Wildlife Refuge. It remains affordable and very very well maintained. Morning breakfast delivered to your room is superb. Number one location in Chincoteague for me.

We had the most relaxing time at the Refuge and loved the breakfast delivered to our room and the closeness to the island. We jumped on the bike trail every morning and rode through Assateague. We had a fabulous time. We will be back soon.

We loved our stay for the weekend. My kids especially loved the ponies next door. The facilities were very clean and conveniently located close to shops, restaurants, and a short drive to the Chincoteague Beach. Our rooms were very nice and comfy. We loved having breakfast delivered to our room too. It was a nice touch.

We had a great stay at the Refuge Inn in August 2024! The inn is an older, quaint property that has been thoughtfully updated and is well-maintained. Our room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The staff were all very kind and helpful! We really enjoyed the pool, which is warm and large enough for several groups to enjoy. It is partially shaded and surrounded by beautiful landscaping. We also liked being able to interact with the ponies that live at the inn; the bike shop sells food for them if you want to feed them. The property is in a great location, just across the bridge from the Chincoteague National Wildlife Reserve, making it an easy walk, bike ride, or drive to get across to see the wild ponies and visit the beach. There are several restaurants and shops in walking distance too. A couple of things to be aware of - if you have any difficulty with stairs be sure to ask for a first floor room when you book, there are no elevators. Additionally, pack your bug spray as the whole area has lots of mosquitoes, gnats, deer flies, and horse flies - they are well controlled around the hotel buildings and pool, but if you venture past the parking lot or want to go anywhere but the beach on the wildlife reserve you definitely need some bug repellent!

Our stay at Refuge Inn was fabulous. The location is wonderful for accessing Assateague Island and food was easily reached on the main thoroughfare. The hotel was clean and the staff very friendly. We enjoyed the pool, the rooftop area, and we loved visiting the ponies on property. Our ONLY complaint was that the fitness room was only accessible on the hours of the office (8 am-10pm) as you need a physical key to enter. We are just early morning exercisers with consideration of having small children with us. We would gladly return to Refuge Inn for a future visit.

Enjoyed our stay and was very happy with the inn. Alot of care goes into making it very comfortable, clean and beautiful plants! The ponies in coral and rental bikes were a plus. Great location.

Refuge Inn was a delight. Front desk ladies very friendly & helpful, the room was very nicely decorated & clean. The best part to me was the beautiful flowers & plants all around the grounds. And of course the whole purpose of the trip, seeing the wild ponies. Would certainly stay here again.

This is our second time staying at this property, and we loved it just as much as the first! The beach nearby is our favorite beach to come to now in the summer, and this hotel makes it all the better. With their free breakfast and friendly service, its impossible to not like. We will stay here always when we come to visit the town and the beach.

We loved staying here! It was very clean and charming. You could smell the ocean from the balcony. They have ponies right outside that you can feed. The pool was beautiful and well maintained. The front desk was amazing and gave us a ton of information on local fun activities for our kids. Will definitely stay here again!
