I contacted the hotel ahead of my stay and the amazing staff arranged a birthday treat in our room.
Very friendly, helpful staff.
Lovely room, big bath 😊

Comfortable, but to be expected from a Macdonald Hotel.

Very nice place. Quiet, with beautiful surroundings. Close enough to the city center. An old railroad track had been made into a walking and cycling trail near by.

Lovely stay here for a wedding. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food and drink were good quality too. Our room could have used a bit of a spruce up - mainly just the bathroom as we liked the traditional decor. Would definitely return though.

We LOVED it here! Though could have used better lighting in the bathrooms and common outlets on the bedsides. Great staff!

all great apart from no biscuit or snack in the room .

Everything was very nice. Nothing misrepresented, as with other hotels.

Gorgeous hotel with impressive stair cases and beautifully decorated. The people at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very impressive with lots to chose from.

Norwood Hall is a proper Manor House with all the charm and loveliness that goes along with that. The staff are fantastic, the grounds are magical. We attended a wedding there during our stay - the dining room, food and service were absoutely impeccable. Overall, a wonderful experience and we will absolutely be returning.

Beautiful historic hotel with lovely atmosphere. Would have rated it 5 stars if it had a spa.

On arrival I had a problem with my room door, after waiting in the bar for around 30 mins the very helpful young lady off reception came and offered me a free room upgrade which turned out to be very nice. Breakfast was expensive and very average, bathroom in my room was superb the rest of the hotel was a little musky smelling and in need or some work everywhere except the dinning area and the bathroom, my friends room near reception was very musky smelling and was over £100, stunning gardens with massive tree and lots of parking. over a nice place Im not sure if I would stay again as it wasn't cheap and had its issues, I honestly prefer more modern hotels.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this magnificent hotel and was thoroughly impressed by its grand yet cozy atmosphere. The staff were helpful and kind, but not overbearing. Despite my short stay, I had a great time. There was only one minor issue I found with the playlist in the bar, lounge and library areas. While the intention may have been good, the piano instrumental covers of current pop songs on repeat didn't quite hit the mark for me. I would have preferred some jazz instead, seems more suitable for the design of the hotel and for my intentions to sit by the fire and read all afternoons. Perhaps it was due to licensing restrictions? Overall, though, it was a wonderful experience, and I will definitely be returning.

Absolutely muddled maze of a hotel that requires you to take 2 different lifts- one up then another one down(!) to reach your floor. Absolute pain in the backside!
Also the restaurant prices are ridiculously high. £24 for a burger, but if you want chips that’s an extra £5.
Bar had VERY limited beer selection….lager!
Nice people but I wouldn’t choose to return.

The grounds and common areas are stunning and very luxurious. Dinner and breakfast were also very good. Staff were very welcoming and accommodating as well.

The hotel looks stunning from the outside and equally so when you step inside. However, the room was dated, dreary and small. I understand the old charm but it needed freshened up, especially the threadbare carpets. It was also extremely hot! When it came to breakfast, there was no staff around but there were hot buffet trays out so we started to help ourselves. Halfway along the line, a staff member came over and was rather rude about it not being self service. The food was ok but the coffee was terrible. We had to continually ask for things like toast which should have been offered in my opinion.

Great hotel with super comfortable rooms, great service from Robert and Jan.
Breakfast was well made and the dining room has a somewhat stately quality.

Staff very good and friendly. We felt the food and drink was a bit pricey. The bar food was to expensive to have a simple bar meal. Also there was a fire alarm around 12 midnight which was poorly organised.

We were SO impressed with this place. It was right there in the beat of Aberdeen. The exterior was nice, but the interior blew our minds. I recently found out I have MacDonald clan in my heritage, so of course I was ecstatic to stay here. We had an unexpected (unnecessary) fire drill, but it worked out. We would love to stay here again.

On arrival we were given a free room upgrade, the room was lovely and clean and comfortable and all the staff we encountered were very friendly.

Lovely hotel for a night away. Full of character and period charm. Fabulous menu in the restaurant and comfortable bar to relax in afterwards.
My only issue was that they ran out of fresh pastries by 9am and no alternative offered.

Beautiful, clean hotel with friendly, attentive staff. Easy access to village and larger city if required.

Norwood Hall is set in beautiful grounds, peaceful and was a beautiful choice by my friend for her wedding. Rooms are lovely, clean and a good size.
11am is not great for check out especially if you have attended a wedding the night prior.
My only negative is that most quests at the hotel were charged different prices for our rooms on the wedding night.

This was an incredibly disappointing stay. We decided to book at this establishment that was further out of town as the photos were amazing and it is down as being a four star hotel. We arrived, check in was easy and the man was lovely he directed us to our room and this is where it all went wrong. Our room was out the very back in what appeared like a school camp level of accomodation. We open the door to our room and were so disappointed, an incredibly old room that was extremely dated and very small. The bathroom had mold and only one towel was out. I never like to leave bad reviews so at this point we decided we would rather speak to the establishment about it rather than just type a bad review after. The man we spoke to was kind however there was zero acknowledgement of the poor standard of the room, he offered to try and move us however they were booked out so he couldn’t. There was nothing else offered by the establishment as compensation. I booked at a four star hotel expecting a standard four star room. We have been travelling europe for five weeks and every four star establishment we have booked has been up to a four star standard. I’m completely happy too stay in a lower standard room however when I am deceived by pictures and I pay for a higher standard hotel it is extremely disappointing, if I had of known what the room would look like I would’ve stayed somewhere in town and saved petrol, no photos of our room were shown online in advertising.

Disappointed that “organised” parties seem to have preference at meal times. They had carpeted room with fire and good ambience whilst individuals were put in a smaller uncarpeted room with no ambience.

We attended a wedding at the hotel and although we live locally we decided to stay the night. It's a great location and set in stunning grounds. First of all I want to say how wonderful everything was at the wedding. The venue, food and service were all perfect. The staff are a real asset to the hotel, friendly, helpful and really pay attention to detail. Our room was spacious clean and comfortable and the breakfast offered something for everyone. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Norwood Hall and would definitely recommend it. 5* all the way.

Started with a double room that had a mattress as hard as the floor. Upgraded the second night to a room with a king size. Bed was more comfortable but still very hard. Everything else was excellent.
