Great location, great staff, good for a beach stay. High fees be aware when you book.

To many hidden fees "Services Fee" as they call them parking fee ..breakfast fee .. fee for charging electric vehicle we so not have ..24 hr beach access just not worth the cost. Mantance working on Friday night till 6 pm next to our room.

Close to the beach

We stayed at this hotel for a family wedding. The hotel was quaint, clean and staff was amazing. We loved the little perks like cookies and popcorn each afternoon. The beach was beautiful and literally right across the street. The only reason I am not giving this a 5 may be kind of silly, but worth mentioning. I ordered a $10 bottle of champagne and was charged $98 for it! I wasn't informed of the price (though I probably should have asked) and thought that was a tad overboard. Otherwise, great stay.

Loved my stay at Ocean Sands. Beautiful room that was clean and well maintained. Great access to the beach and close to restaurants. But best of all, the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Will definitely come back!

Mainly the construction that was going on that we didn’t know that was going on prior to our arrival making it difficult to maneuver during breakfast time. Only other issues was the shower didn’t have a temperature knob so we couldn’t adjust the temperature, but as soon as we told the front desk, maintenance fixed it. After we returned from our day, maintenance did manage to lock us out of our room but yet again the front desk made sure to take care of it right away. I do recommend fabric softener for the towels and linen. Besides that our stay was pretty good.

Easy beach access

Even though I booked two queen beds with a balcony, the king bed room was nice, bed was comfortable and had easy acess to the beach. I was satisfied.

Second time I have stayed here in last month or so. It’s always something. This place the first time way overcharged me for my room but I was in a crisis as my house had a serious condition to where I had to immediately leave and couldn’t get to my house rental u til the next day. This time, the rate was 1/10 of the last time but still annoying. The rate was x then they tried to charge me all sorts of fees so in other words they published a low rate and then tried to screw me by charging me for breathing. On the positive side, the hotel is right across from the beach with a “private” beach, super nice, the pool is nice and it’s actually in a good spot. The shower is ridiculous. I pulled off the handle both times I stayed there bc it’s the stupidest non intuitive shower mixing valve ever. Also first time, they told me to go up on the left bc they were doing renovations (this seems to be a trend) and did not tell me they had painted the railings so I got blue paint on me 3 times before I realized this. I looked like I belonged in blue man group. Go that way because we’ve demolished this way and don’t worry about the fresh paint on the handrail.

The additional fees this property charges are ridiculous, especially charging more to customers that book through third parties such as Expedia. I would not have found the property if it wasn’t for Expedia. The hotel is trying to be a boutique upscale property, but falls short in several ways. They have a bit of an identity crisis. They need to embrace an upscale and sophisticated atmosphere with a relaxed and cozy vibe. Cleanliness could be better. Everything is in the small details. Shortcuts are taken in some areas, and it’s noticeable. They need to embrace a tropical/Florida vibe with decor, and not take shortcuts with things like patio chairs (arms on backwards), and cheap exterior lighting. The bathroom door appears to have been made by hotel maintenance, and it’s not put on correctly, and the handles are not practical. Have a full length mirror in the room, and have four pillows per bed, not three. Focus on service, and don’t charge or over charge for things like umbrellas and chairs when you’re charging a high service charge/fee. The pool is way too warm. It’s not refreshing at all. The property could also have better breakfast choices with more protein choices and perhaps some fresh cut fruit or fresh berries, etc. They seem to want to do better and be better, but something is hindering it, and it always starts from the top. Some changes in direction could make this property very nice. The beach location is nice, as is the close proximity to downtown St. Augustine.

The place is not on the beach, but across the street. The view is of the road or the parking lot. The staff and service are good, but the facility itself and the location are not that great.

Super nice people with lots of nice extra touches like warm cookies and free sunscreen. Great location by the beautiful beach!

View of the ocean was wonderful. We sat on our little balcony/ porch and enjoyed the morning sun. Swimming pool was maintained at 90 degrees! Warm cookies each evening at 5PM. Nice breakfast including waffles, bacon, sausages, eggs. Breads. Juices. Coffees. Lovely.

Hotel staff was super friendly and helpful. The one acre private beach right across the street was great! Room was very clean the heated pool was an extra bonus. We very much enjoyed our stay. We will definitely stay again

Unique location near the ocean

This was easily the best hotel that I've ever stayed in. A representative from the hotel texted me to coordinate romantic options. They ensured things were ready by the time my wife and I showed up. They were very accommodating and in a fantastic location. The perfect romantic getaway!

Beach was beautiful. Most of the staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was just enough.

We stayed at Ocean Sands for 3 nights. Its an older property that is very well maintained. The room was very clean and comfortable. Our housekeeper Dawn did a great job. The Inn is located on a busy road and the traffic noise was significant in our ocean view room. The rooms on the other side were probably much more quiet. That being said, the view and sound of the ocean was beautiful. Beach access is right across the street. It is a nice beach, good for long walks and not crowded.

Very expensive. No view of river or beach but lots of traffic noise. Could have stayed downtown St Augustine in luxury hotel for similar cost.

This property is outside of the tourist attractions. It makes it very quiet. The private beach was beautiful. The trolley to pick you up and take you to the historic area was very convenient. We enjoyed our stay and would choose it again

When we first arrived at 2:30pm to check in- the lady at the desk stated to everyone that the cleaning lady didn’t have the room ready and we would have to wait. Then another staff person who didn’t greet anyone was very “like get this transaction done” really didn’t explain anything, had to rely on text messages for information. The painting were pretty cool all over the place of the local area, crossing the street to the beach was very close and very dangerous with kids and dogs. There is a very steep sand dune to cross to get to the beach as the walkway bridge was not available. The beach was great! Great sunset view, pool looks clean! Inside the desk area and coffee area is very small. Cookies and popcorn at 5 pm. Also the TV wasn’t working, had to have the staff come up and program the TV took already 30 mins to get that done. The floor to the hotel room was nasty, the beds were very high off the ground they were comfortable and the AC unit froze everyone sleeping on one side and the others in the room were hot. The bathroom door is a wooden door that does not lock. The balcony was small but fit everyone to watch the sunset. That was very pretty. For the price, it was average! For the views and convenience of being right on the beach, it was worth it. $75 per pet! They do not acknowledge emotional support animals. They also charge a $69 resort parking fee. The pet station was not maintained, can was full. The breakfast the next morning was decent. Yogurt/eggs/B&G.

Everything was perfect! I especially loved all the little “touches” they had in rooms and lobby..Everything from the cookies to checking out with a car air freshener! They leave nothing out! I’d definitely stay there again…
