Avania is a short walk from the beach. The lobby and rooms have all been updated and redecorated. Our room on the ground floor had a private patio with two chairs and a small table. Shower was great and easy to use, though bathroom is small. Breakfast room is light and airy with loads of seating and good food. We would stay there again!!

Updated rooms. Very nicely renovated, great finishing, nothing needed to be fixed etc in our room, everything worked! Good lighting. Subtle night light in bathroom. Breakfast was great. Cooked, fresh food. Cookies and water availability was a nice touch. Staff were very polite.

Great location and staff. Unfortunately we had 2 kids in the room above who ran around on the floor boards all night. Kept us awake. Breakfast was a highlight. Excellent selection and service

The reception was friendly, the room was clean and comfortable and the included breakfast was very nicely done. All in all our single night in Santa Barbara at the Avania Inn was pleasant enough to suggest we should stay longer on our next trip to the West coast.

We had an amazing stay at the Avania Inn. They were very helpful, let us check in early and the room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We stayed 4 days and wished we could have stayed longer! Next time we will have to check out the pool and hot tub. We are already planning our next stay at the Avania Inn.

Just a dressed up dump. Cheap everything, smallest toilet we'd ever seen, sandpaper towels and hard beds, etc. You wouldn't mind if it wasn't so expensive, but at $400/night I expect better.

The room was clean (to start), the beds comfortable, decor was meh, jacuzzi dirty & the breakfast was fine. However, the first morning the toilet was gurgling. After a shower, the tub began to fill with disgusting waste. We told the front desk staff who said a supervisor would come while we were gone. Upon return a couple hours later, no one had been there. Then a housekeeper came with a plunger. I told the front desk staff the plunger would not solve the problem. She said they would take care if it. We left for several more hours & when we came back, the bathroom had been cleaned. However, after we used the toilet, putrid sewage filled the tub again! I had already emailed the GM & the supervisor with images of the issue. We spoke to a new front desk staff who came to look at the problem & called supervisor. We were offered his plunging services & a $100 credit as it was “too late” (4pm) to call a plumber. We said we couldn’t stay in a room with sewage and no facilities, he said there was nothing they could do. He called the supervisor back, who I was told I was not allowed to speak to, and we were offered a refund for the 2nd night. We were 300 miles from home, so we asked for help to find another hotel. After 1 hour of not finding a vacancy, a plumber came. It got fixed, but was dirty. The staff spent maybe 30 seconds to wipe it down. It wasn’t clean! It felt as if we were a bother. We never received an apology from anyone & never heard from mgmt; they gave us 1/3 refund.

Location and price were right but there was a constant musty odor to the room which made it uncomfortable. Because of that, I wanted to leave the slider open but there was no screen. Patio was not at all inviting to sit out on, very stark.

The AC had a mildew smell, but other then that our stay was good.

Had a great stay at this hotel. It was updated and clean. Staff was very friendly and supportive, Christian and Maricruz. We felt safe and felt that we got a great quality for the price that we paid. We would definitely stay at this location again.

Very accommodating, readily available, friendly and helpful staff. Perfect location. Will look to stay again next trip to Santa Barbara.

Very handy for the seafront and marina.Room was comfortable and very clean. Complimentary breakfast was adequate. Swimming pool very small, but very clean.

Our overall stay was great. The staff for breakfast and the front services were all friendly and helpful in accommodating us. The room we checked in was clean and spacious. The only problem was the bathroom area. It was slippery. My partner slipped and hit his head and made a dent on the shower wall. We mentioned this to the manager and he assured us that we won’t get charged because of the accident. We suggested to have all their bathrooms non-slipped because we noticed that there were lots of older people staying that could have gotten into an accident. Apparently, you can request to have a non-slip bathroom. However, we did not know about that. We assumed the bathrooms have some mat to prevent fall. Hopefully, they will check all the rooms and make changes for the safety of the future guests. Overall, this is a great hotel to stay.

The staff is very attentive, helpful and polite. Good continental breakfast choices. Easy parking. Love the fact that breakfast and parking is included during stay. Walkable distance to harbor, pier, beach and State St.

The staff were the best! Looked recently remodeled. Quite clean. Ample parking. Hot breakfast. Hot tub open late! Couple block walk to wharf and Funk Zone for a zillion dining and drinking options. Will definitely return to this fantastic value.

Great hotel centrally located, staff are friendly and rooms very good

It's located in the downtown, very close to the high school that hosts the water polo tournament that our son participated in. We loved this cozy hotel, with friendly staff, yummy breakfast, comfy beds, spacious rooms, easy parking, and walkable to the town and beach. It's also reasonably priced. Highly recommend it!

The staff from beinning to end was very nice, quick to resolve everything, and greeted us every morning. While enjoying the tasty compimentary breakfast, I heard staff professionally and kindly assist customers both on the phone and in person for various requests. I didnt get a chance to use the pool, but it offered a lot of privacy. We were able to walk from the hotel to convenience stores for snacks, to the harbor/beach, up State Street, and back fairly easy (make sure to reapply suncreen!) The AC ran well, plenty of outlets/room lighting, and was surprised with the mini-fridge! Overall fantastic experience and we hope to make this a bi-yearly vacation experience!

Way too overpriced and not the price I thought I had confirmed. I thought I had a reservation for a room at $212, but when I got there they said my room was $397.00. How did that happen? This is basically a motel with a postage-stamp-size pool. With one family hogging the pool there was no way to get in to even stand to cool off. They said I had a sofa bed in my room, which I didn’t need and when I asked about changing rooms they said they were sold out. However, the sign out front continued to show that they had a vacancy. So I don’t believe they were telling me the truth. Not a good experience.
