This is an excellent hotel in every respect. Staff , interior, food and location

A friendly hotel with very good food, in a nice area. It is in its own little area but very close to the centre. There are some very good cafes, bars and restaurants opposite the hotel as well as a couple of small supermarkets. It is right on the beach with some amazing sunsets and sunrises. Good wifi and tv, indoor and outdoor pool and extensive sitting areas. The food choices were extensive and all high quality with outdoor dining options.

Excellent hotel in a lovely location, handy for the beach or walking into Nerja town. Very friendly, helpful staff and very good choice and qaulity of food in main evening restaurant and beach bar for snack menu. We loved the day trips to Mijas, Malaga and Frigliana....Grenada trip next time for us, as on day we arrived and left....

Very friendly staff and clean rooms. The house keeping staff were excellent and always say hello when passing in the halls. However no real service around the pool and you have to get up early to secure a lounger. Beds on the beach which don’t belong to the hotel are never available.

Excellent hotel in a great location on the beach and only a 10min stroll into town. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel facilities were good and the hotel is spotless. Cannot think of any downsides to this hotel!

Lovely staff who changed my room according to my preferences and gave me one of the best ocean views in the complex. Very relaxing atmosphere, convenient location, and excellent amenities. It made life so much easier to have breakfast and dinner at the hotel, and the quality/variety of food was excellent!

This adults only hotel is lovely. It is right on the beach. I got a free upgrade to a room with a porch looking over the pool and the beach. Although I thought I was getting a buffet breakfast included, a buffet dinner was also included. For the most part the food was good but not great. I found that at supper if I chose main dishes that were in some sort of sauce or gravy they tended to be hot whereas other mains often got cold. I was disappointed that the extensive dessert section was loaded with cream, milk, ice cream… all impossible for me as I’m lactose intolerant. But there was also fruit available. I just wish they would have at least one pastry cake etc every night without a major dairy component. The indoor pool was a real highlight for me as the outdoor pool was way too cold in March. I would definitely stay in this hotel again off season. I’m guessing the entire Costa del sol is way too crowded in summer.

Lovely views of the sea.

Staff were very friendly and super- helpful to my 93-year old mother. Nothing was too much trouble. All the staff have been there many years and recognised us as return guests. Mum loved the indoor pool, as the lifeguard lent her a 'noodle' to support her. All-in-all an excellent stay at a great hotel where the staff make the difference.

I enjoyed my stay at the Monica and was impressed with the overall service I was disappointed with the choice of food at times, the bed was not comfortable and the entertainment was very poor compared with previous stay in February. Staff were excellent as always and cleanliness was impressive throughout hotel. Access to WiFi needs to be made easier I heard a lot of people having problems as I did. I would certainly stay again and would recommend it to others.

Adults only, half board based around buffets for breakfast and dinner. I have travelled extensively and eaten at many buffets - yes, I have had better occasionally but this Hotel's offering beats most established chains hands-down. Quality and choice - superb. Not crowded or crushed. Go for it

Good location in Nerja. Bars directly opposite hotel and short walk to Balcon D Europe. Decent entertainment in hotel bar. Limited parking at front of hotel. Hotel food average/good. Would recommend.

Nice pool area. Didnt like buffet food for dinner and food wasnt great. Huband turned away from restruant for wearing shorts and not long pants even though it was 28c and women could wear what they liked.

Absolutely wonderful place! Can highly recommend it - close proximity to beautiful beach, and fantastic staff, service and food! The day after we had checked out from the hotel we discovered we forgot our favourite private pillows - when we called Riu Monica they were absolutely amazing organising transportation from Nerja to Malaga so we were able to get our pillows back before flying back home! Can’t express how grateful we are to the Riu Monica staff who really did an enormous job helping us with this! But all through our stay at Riu Monica all of the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly - we will definitely come back soon!!!

I have enjoyed my stay at your Hotel at Nerja as I have also stayed at the companies hotels in Tenerife and Costa de sol and today being my birthday had a bottle of fizz brought up to room and thank you for that it’s been excellent service throughout my stay as today is my last day here as I depart tomorrow morning When I arrived due to an unexpected matter I was unable to come on holiday with my female partner I explained the matter to the receptionist as it was too late to cancel that’s why I had decided to come alone and asked if there would be some kind of discount in the price due to half board offer is only for one person instead of two which I paid for but as I knew it was too late to cancel the booking from two people to one person and I didn’t mind staying with a room for two

We absolutely loved Hotel Riu Monica. We were only there for 2 days (2 rooms- 5 adults) and it was beautiful. There is only about 22 parking spaces at the hotel so parking is hard to find (street or limited parking lots) however when we checked in, we were offered an employee's spot since it was close to his quitting time for the day. He was parked on the street so we parked and either walked or took a taxi for the rest of the stay. I would say that is great customer service! Pool was great, beach access was wonderful and plenty of food options at the hotel or nearby

We stay here as we were getting married in Nerja and we could not fault this hotel. We were greeted with a warm welcome at check in, loved the welcome drink. The staff are amazing, so friendly and could not do enough for you. Rooms are lovely. The selection of food at breakfast and dinner was outstanding, nothing I've ever seen before, caters for everyone. I'd highly recommend and we'll definitely be back next year.

Excellent hotel, exceptionally clean, great food and very helpful, lovely staff.

From start to finish we had an excellent service at the hotel. The staff were wonderful and helped my 93-year old mother everywhere. It is refreshing to see that the greater percentage of staff had been there many years ( we have been coming here in the last 10 years. That must say something about the running of the hotel. To the people who complained about no parking, we paid a deposit of 10 Euros for the key to the car park, and there was never more than 3 cars in there. No problems at all. We hope to return soon.

This is my 4th stay at the Riu Monica and it is the hotel I will always stay at in Nerja. The location is great - a 5-10 minute walk from the Balcon de Europa and the Nerja centre. It is right on torrecilla beach and the area is safe and convenient. The rooms are spacious and well looked after. The pool area is lovely and it's great to have a pool but also be so close to the beach. The hotel is half-board and there are many options at breakfast and dinner time, especially as I am a vegetarian. There were plenty of vegetarian options. What truly makes this hotel great though is the staff. All staff at the hotel are wonderful, they are professional but always make you feel welcome and make the stay enjoyable.

Loved everything about the hotel. Very centrally placed with easy access to all local amenities.

It was a very clean and staff friendly hotel in which the staff really seemed happy to work there.
