I expected it to be better but it was tired and very old fashioned The room was fine but staff very average not that welcoming at all. No idea where the spa was as no one told us and the bar area was soulless no atmosphere at all Breakfast looked ok but all the bread and croissants were pre baked rather than fresh from the bakery- Fruit salads looked liked they’d been made up a while ago and the girl serving coffee was as miserable as anything she didn’t smile or welcome us at all. It’s a average hotel definitely not 4*

The decor is dated, but it’s spotlessly maintained with a delightful staff who always go the extra kilometer!

I felt like I was in a time capsule. It was the most bizarre feeling - legitimately like we entered a different stage. The bathrooms and rooms need updating but the hotel was central and good walkability

Checking in was very smooth...the room was very nice and large...it is convenient to the walking/shopping area...breakfast buffet was well stocked and they custom-made omelets and fried eggs to order.

At check-in we reminded the reception that we had chosen a "VIP offer" from the Expedia portal, but it seemed to us that they were having difficulty remembering what it included. As advertised, we should have expected: 1. superior service; 2. two complimentary drinks; 3. free room upgrade; however we received only the drinks. We asked to charge our EV in their garage and they didn't inform us of the 10 euros per day charge, in addition to the 18 euros per day for parking. Charging took only a few hours, because the battery was almost full (about 15 kWh). Despite this we had to pay at least one day. If they had informed us of the cost, we would have recharged in the Mercedes museum parking, where it's free. We were assigned one of the non-refurbished rooms, with the carpet and furnishings dating back a few decades. When the room was cleaned after the first night, we did not find new sets of soap and shower gel, as usually happens in other hotels. The toilet flushed badly from day one, and the second night stopped to work at all. By choosing Expedia's "VIP" offer, we should have received superior service, but here we got the exact opposite. We are not pretentious people, so we gladly accept what is offered to us, without asking for more, but perhaps this time we should have complained to the reception from the first moment. It will serve as a lesson for future experiences.

Old hotel. Our major issue was the parking.. On-site parking that is outside behind the hotel with overflow in a basement garage. The issue is, it is down a steep ramp and immediately at the base of the ramp is a tight turn into the garage of about 6 or so spaces. Issue is, cars are parked in the first of 6 spots! Making that turn off the ramp ridiculous. We hit our rental car into the pole, and in my 10 years of dating my partner, I have never seen him hit anything else behind the wheel. Still paid 18 euros for parking!

The staff at Hotel Royal were outstanding. Due to some travel plans falling through and despite us requiring multiple extensions/repeated last minute bookings over 5 days, they helped to secure accomodation for my friend and I for all but 1 night, due to being sold out. We were very happy with the older style rooms which had character and comfort combined. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the heart of Stuttgart-Mitte. The bars and restaurants in the area are incredible.

This place is right in the city center of Stuttgart. You will walk around the corner and all the shopping and food you can handle is right there.
