All furnishings very comfortable, decor inviting. The kitchen well equipped. The setting SPECTACULAR. The ocean at our doorstep. The marine life in tidal pools astounding, sea turtles, eels, fish too numerous to list. And in the horizon dolphins and whales seen almost every day. Several in our party scuba dived with the Blue Wilderness Dive Shop, which is close by.. Leave taking brought tears to our eyes, a memorial experience .

We just loved the property it lived up to all the pictures.. Mary and her team were so easy to work with. The sunsets we amazing. There were two great beaches with in ten minutes and you could walk out to see the turtles thru the beach access next door. Great having your own pool to walk into when ever you needed it. Working on plans to return again next year.

The view from the backyard is incredible! Property extremely clean. Easy parking, bedrooms spacious. Communication with Mary was prompt.

The views are extraordinary. Exploring the tide pools was a daily activity for our family.

Perfect quiet spot with everything nature offers right in your back yard! Sea turtles, blow fish and sting rays!! House has plenty our outdoor living space and you don’t want to leave. Beach down the street is perfect for swimming and the whole area is teeming with fantastic snorkeling. House has comfortable beds and plenty of privacy in each space along with plenty of bathrooms. I highly recommend you book this!

Wonderful two weeks at Hale Ohana with our children and grandchildren. Beautiful views, wildlife and access to beaches. Mary at 2 Papayas was very helpful throughout. Would love to come back.

Beautiful home in a quaint town. The sounds and smell of the ocean breaking on the reef the fragrance of the flowers allows for a complete sensual experience. Look forward to my next visit.

Mary (and her team) were always very helpful when we needed them. We stayed for 5 weeks, so there were a number of things that we found were not ideal for us, for such a long stay: small living area, only 1 TV in the entire house, washing machine that did not clean anything, uncomfortable furniture and no real indoor dining space. The listing claimed 1 room had an en-suite bath, but you had to exit the bedroom to access the bath. Next time we would choose a different home in Puako to meet our needs but I would still recommend this home for others on shorter stays. We would definitely rent with 2Papayas again! They were great!

This house and location were perfect! To wake up every morning with the ocean view, and being right on the water...there are no words. We loved having dinner on the lanai and watch the sunsets. Hapuna beach was just down the street. Close to Mauna Lani, Waikoloa and Kona. We will definitely stay there again!!

A lovely and comfortable home to enjoy all the wonders of the Big Island! We loved the location and quiet solitude of Hale Ohana- it was a very special place we hope to enjoy again soon!

We rented Hale Ohana for a family vacation with our two adult kids and their spouses and this home was a perfect fit! Not only is it beautiful, inside and out, the layout of the home was thoughtfully planned and gave everyone plenty of room, great views and privacy. Loved the large kitchen area and the huge lanai; this was perfect as each couple took turns cooking dinner for the group and we could visit, make drinks and enjoy the show. Lots of time in the water, snorkeled every day and some of the nights too! The dipping pool is bigger than it looks in the photos and offered a welcome cool down to the 90-degree days! Lovely grounds, home felt very private. Stargazing here was almost as good as at the observatory, and you could do it laying down in a hammock! The master bed was soooo comfy, I’ve been kicking myself since we left that I didn’t look at the mattress label. Really appreciated the use of boogie boards, cooler etc at the house keeping our island purchases of these leave-behind items down. Appreciated the walk through with Marley upon our arrival. She gave us a thorough tour and updated me when there was a slight change in pool/grounds or housekeeping service. 2 Papayas did a super job representing this beautiful home and making us feel welcome. The perfect home away from home for a family gathering or a group of several couples.

A total of eight of our extended family stayed at Hale Ohana for three weeks in December. This home had everything we could wish for...a well-stocked kitchen, plenty of bathrooms, huge lanai, & outdoor shower to name a few! We loved watching the sun hit the waves, watching for whales (which frequented the water directly off the reef!) watching the turtles and the abundant sea life over the wall, and the spectacular sunsets! While the rollers were to rough to launch kayaks directly off the house, there is shore access a few houses down, with great snorkeling there as well. This isn't our first rental on Puako Beach Drive through 2 Papayas, they always take care of us, and we hope to be blessed enough to return again!

This Puako updated and well furnished home was lovely for my husband our daughter and her boyfriend. Their bedroom was at opposite end of the house from ours. The house come with a well equipped kitchen as well as a generous supply of towels. Great ocean views with whales beyond and turtles and an eel just beyond the sea wall, wonderful lanai, comfy sofas, great TV, & outdoor shower. 2 Papayas met our every need. Only drawback: all doors are slatted for good airflow, but they do prevent privacy.

Seven of us stayed at Hale Ohana. It was perfect! We saw whales breaching every day, turtles, eels and fish right over the sea wall. The house is very well equipped and so comfortable. We especially enjoyed the outdoors, the huge covered lanai, front garden and the outdoor shower. Management was welcoming and helpful without being intrusive. We loved the crab sandwiches at the general store and found a calm beach for snorkelling and swimming every morning. Look for the shore access closest to the general store. Close to every thing you might need. Loved it!!! Pool was perfect to cool down after a run or walk. Quiet neighbours. No need for air conditioning, the house cools itself with nice breezes throughout all day long. Well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, great art work. Not sure about the TV because we never turned it on. Can't say enough except I can't wait to return!

This house was perfect for us! We thoroughly enjoyed our very relaxing holiday. The house has everything one could want, including privacy. The sound of the sea just outside made for wonderful sleeping. The view which changes with the tides, including turtles, fish, and sunsets was a highlight. Beautifully appointed with an amazing granite kitchen. We lived on the huge covered veranda. Even my husband (who can be difficult to please) will enjoy returning!! Thank you so much!

From the minute we walked through the front gate, until we left two weeks later, we experienced paradise! Everything about this house is spectacular…the view,the amenities, the ambiance, the wildlife, the weather, all made this our best family trip ever! Three generations enjoyed all the activities, beaches, zip lining, snorkeling, running, hiking,stargazing, whale, dolphin,and turtle watching. Cocktails and dinner on the lanai were so terrific we ate in every night. The kitchen is a dream, well-equipped including a cappucchino machine, microplane, plenty of dishes, glasses, pans, etc. Beds were wonderfully comfortable with quality linens. Hale Ohana is truly a fabulous family gathering place! We loved it and hope to return. Many thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us! Mahalo!

I could have not imagined a better vacation that sipping my Kona coffee or eating my papaya with lime juice each morning watching the whales splash what seemed like yards away. Each evening we would enjoy a glass of wine watching the turtles at our feet. I have never seen so many! I have been to the Hawaiian islands dozens of times and always thought that Maui was my favorite but this trip has changed that to love the big island of Hawaii as our new favorite. During the day this location is PERFCT as it is next to some of the best beaches in the world. The home is luxurious-comfort with everything that you would want from BBQ to the hammock between the palms. I loved the outdoor built-in couch on the lanai to read and watch the waves. My family was ultra comfortable (kids- 13, 11 & 8). I hope that I can come back someday to this wonderful paradise!

Our family of six enjoyed a week vacation at this incredible home. The home is so wonderfully comfortable and has absolutely everthing you will need for your stay. The kitchen is well stocked, the bedrooms and bathrooms are large and modern. The best part is the VIEW.... My husband and I could sit all day on the lanai and read, count turtles and whales. Our adult children went scuba diving, searching for water falls and hidden beaches. We enjoyed an afternoon of sport fishing at the nearby Harbor. We will definitely return to this wonderfully peaceful retreat.

Our new favorite place to stay on the Big Island! So beautiful, tasteful & peaceful. We enjoyed the stunning Oceanside location and the soft ocean breezes. Coffee every morning on the lanai was a delight. The tidal pools just on the otherside of the sea wall was very entertaining. The well stocked kitchen made it easy to prepare family meals. We had plenty of room for our multi-generational family. We enjoyed being close to so many public shore access points and beaches as well. Truly a gem.
