Downtown city landmark near Checkpoint Charlie

'Feel the history; Love the Comfort' by Curiousnellie :
'Six of us - women 'd'un certain age'- stayed here at the beginning of this winter and were all delighted with our choice. The building itself is beautiful, redolent of end of empire flourish, while the apartment, with the gracious proportions of an earlier era is warm and welcoming. We loved the beautiful original wooden floors, the decorative plasterwork on the bedroom ceilings, the sense of space, as well as the terrific shower in a stylish, modern bathroom. Our inner homemakers thrilled to the quality and solidity of the linens and general fittings (and dreamy beds ). The kitchen is really well equipped so we did not just eat breakfast there but prepared some meals too, though there are some good restaurants close by. The main room and the bedrooms are really roomy, not even with 6 of us did it ever feel crowded. Marion , our host in Berlin, was welcoming and gave some really useful tips on eating out and things to do, and his welcome package was chosen with care - organic and delicious.
The location is great! so close to Museuminsel that it makes a very comfortable stroll before a trip to the unmissable Pergamon. But if walking's not your thing then the wonderful Berlin public transport system is accessible only 2 mins away at the Kochstrasse stop. Another visit you must make is to the Jewish Museum which is also only 2 mins walk from the building. This is a great city for history and culture fans , so get booking ! you won't regret choosing this apartment as your base for your explorations. But get fit first and keep your luggage minimal; there are two flights to walk up.' (PS: Dear Curiousnellie, Apt. 11C and 11 have now elevator).

Was so impressed with the property. The location was great, the size was great and communication was always quick. Hope to have the family back again.

Very comfortable, very well equipped with comfy beds. Check in was super easy, host had all the what’s? Like garbage, how does the oven work etc with check in instructions. The building is a historical landmark and we love old buildings, tall ceilings, but you still had good internet and modern amenities. The neighborhood has many grocery options and coffee shops. Easy walking distance to check point Charlie and the Brandenburg Gate. The topography of terror is an excellent museum and also in walking distance. We loved Berlin and we felt very safe and comfortable in this apartment.

My friends and I really enjoyed our stay in Berlin and in this flat.
Coordinating w Nino was very smooth.
Following his detailed instructions for check in and out were easy.
You can tell that there has been a. Lot of love and care placed into this house - it is well maintained and cared for and very clean.
Very thoughtful on what has been provided for the guests.
Everything is cozy. You are in an old building, but as the book on the renovation will show, it has been completely modernized but maintains the beauty of the old building.
The building is well located, an easy walk or train ride to get to anywhere. Definitely check point Charlie.
We loved our stay!

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. Everything went smoothly, and the apartment was as described. It’s in a great location, and the ability to pay extra for private parking was awesome.

This 125 year old apartment building is a true rarity--the only one in the neighborhood to have survived the WW2 bombing unscathed. It has been lovingly restored since and staying in it made us feel connected to its astonishing history. The apt was very comfortable. Highly recommended.

We rented the apartment for two weeks so we could explore Berlin. It was beautifully restored, immaculate and very comfortable for our family of four. Nino was always extremely responsive to any questions we had. She also shared her personal recommendations as a local on what to do on Berlin on hot summer days. We highly recommend staying there.

Spacious and luxurious apartment in historic building close to Checkpoint Charlie and many other Berlin tourist attractions. A great location and immaculate apartment. A good spot for renters mindful of staying in a residential building and respectful of their neighbors.

The apartment itself was beautiful--as seen in pictures--high ceilings--felt very special. Kitchen and bathrooms totally new. Whole apartment spotless. The owners were very responsive when I had questions. Stayed with my parents who are in their 80s and have mobility issues. The entryway has a few steps with railing, and then elevator takes you right next to apartment door. Was very doable. We took Ubers often to make it easier on my parents, but metro stop is a quick walk away and very easy to get to main tourist sites. Grocery store also quick walk away. Highly recommend apartment.

Property was as represented. Good location and walkable to many parts of Berlin, only couple blocks from subway stop, elevator building. Good showers/bathrooms, large dining table, refrigerator.
Quality communication with Nino. Would stay there again if we go back to Berlin.

The pros are that the apartment was beautiful and well located. The cons are that the owner was extremely difficult and unpleasant to deal with and if you are looking for an easy, stress- free, and relaxing lodging experience, keep looking! He did not offer a warm or welcoming atmosphere! Be prepared for the possibility of a demand to pay unexpected fees in cash. There was a LONG list of rules that began with letter a and ran through the letter v. I have never experienced this type of situation at any of the numerous properties I have leased in the past. This included a charge if the dishwasher was not emptied and the trash taken outside at the end of the stay. There was a cleaning fee charged and I believe it should cover putting away the clean dishes in the dishwasher and carrying out the trash at the end of the stay. I rented the apartment thinking I had six beds and could invite six people. WRONG!!!! I ended up having to pay many euros in cash for two extra guests. Also the owner demanded I pay him, in cash, a security deposit after we already checked in. I had purchased trip property insurance through VBRO and refused to pay the cash security deposit. We were a group of middle aged college friends, nothing crazy or loud. If I had known in advance what I would experience at this property I would not have rented it. Again, renter beware!

We loved the 3 bedroom apartment in the historic building within walking distance of Check Point Charlie, Museum Island and historic city center of Berlin. It was spotlessly clean, the beds and showers were wonderful and the kitchen was well-equipped. Was the perfect choice for our 3 day stay in Berlin with our daughters and their spouses.
