Our family enjoyed a true home away from home experience. Having our own space and our own pool was absolutely fantastic. Our only negative was not being able to get wifi upstairs for the teenagers. We’d definitely consider staying there again if given the opportunity to.

We rate the property highly as it's a great facility. However it has challenges as described below. We didn't downgrade for these challenges, but renters should be aware of them. The description of the property is accurate. Two bedroom & baths upstairs and a bedroom with an adjoining bath downstairs. Kitchen is well equipped. The Keurig machine was busy, we brought pods and made good use of the machine. Each morning we had our coffee and breakfast on the patio next to the pool. This location provides a relaxing atmosphere and great view of passing ships and other boats. Unfortunately, at about 10:30 am the sun comes over the top of the villa and baths the patio is sunshine all day. There is no protection/shade on the back patio. Management Response to Request: We contacted the Management Company/Property Manager about the intense afternoon sun on the back patio/pool. We asked if an umbrella could be provided. We enjoyed the pool as well as the view of the coast, however, we would have liked a little shade. Management’s response was that there was plenty of shade from the overhang of the house (maybe in the winter when the sun is lower in the sky, but not in April). The patio and pool had full/unprotected sun from 10:30 am until sunset. After 5:30 pm, the mangroves on the neighboring property start to cast a shadow on the pool. We were told we could rent an umbrella from a vendor. An option we were given was the use of the atrium on the east side of the building. This structure is covered in lattice and completely screened in. However, there is little air circulation and you have to walk through the villa to get to the pool and the view. This outdoor room provides protection from bugs, if you choose to dine outdoors, it does not allow you to enjoy the view of the pool or coastline. The bottom four feet of the atrium is covered by sheets of plywood painted white. Cayman Villas describes amenities for Coral Cottages Yellow & Pink: “Beach Notes: The beach here can be both sandy and pebbly, depending on mother nature. There is a shallow reef close to shore that harbors marine life for excellent snorkeling." The shore and beach directly in front of the property is crushed coral/sand, followed by coral/stones before you get to shoreline, then limestone. Snorkel only at high tide. Dangerous for children, beware. I hope the owner of Coral Cottages considers constructing steps so that access to the shore is less challenging.

Our week long stay at the cottage was enjoyable. The cottage is exactly as pictured - clean and bright with beautiful views of the sea. We spent a lot of time by the pool. Although other visitors mentioned snorkeling in the waters off the house, the waters on the east side were rough during our week so we went to the west side of the island. It's about a 45 minute drive to the Seven Mile Beach and Public Beach. Grand Cayman is a fantastic vacation spot, and this house is a good place to stay.
