Had a lovely holiday. Ideal location for family and dogs. Could do with a bigger fridge for four people.

We loved our stay. The Derwentwater was exactly as listed — clean and comfortable. The setting was amazingly peaceful and serene. It was beautiful. We took lovely walks and enjoyed amazing scenery at every turn. We would love to come back some day.

Well maintained and euipped, great location, superb views.
Private terrace over looking pasture land was a great bonus.
A few niggles , no bedside reading lamp in one bedroom,
no where to put soaps etc in the shower, one mattress too soft , needs replacing?
Will definitely book it again!

Overall this cottage was great for what we needed however the TV was a bit of an issue as you needed to log in using your personal details to get access to BBC due to the TV not having an external Arial. this was further complicated as the BB signal is not great so spent most to the time buffing.
I also felt the on site car charging rates were extremely high and especially as they had increased form 38 pence per KW in March to 60 pence per KW and the price of electric is coming down
I would welcome a review of this especially as a returning customer

This is the 2nd time in Derwentwater cottage. 3rd time staying in a Graythwaite estates cottage. Fab location and lovely cottage. Perfect place for a dog owner.
It was cold and wet (it’s the lakes!!). The cottage was well heated and the water hot. Perfect after a cold wet walk. Cosily sitting in front of the log burner with a drink of hot chocolate

This was our 5th stay in Derwentwater. It is a great place for our dogs and convenient to lots of dog approved walking routes. It helped that we had some great weather for April as well!

Small but perfectly formed cottage for a few days in the lakes. Great views across the fields to the lake, the peace and quiet was just great. Staff so helpful when we had a few problems, prompt and friendly, what more can u ask.

We stayed at Derwentwater for 4 nights. The ground floor apartment was perfect for us and our dog, with direct access to the shared grounds and Esthwaite water. The apartment was warm and cosy and the bed was so comfy!
Location is great for exploring local walks as well as a great base for heading off in the car.
We'll definitely be back!

We had a wonderful time in Derwentwater Cottage at Esthwaite Howe! The cottage is in a lovely peaceful location with Esthwaite water nearby, as well as lots of fantastic places to visit such as Hill Top Farm down the road and Hawkshead, Ambleside, Windermere and Coniston all within a short drive. Check-in was easy with a key lockbox and there was plenty of parking. In terms of the cottage itself, it had comfy beds, responsive heating, a powerful shower as well as nice towels and bedding. The log-burner made it feel especially cosy on a cold rainy evening! The team at Graythwaite Estate were friendly and helpful and responded quickly by sending someone from the maintenance team to fix the WiFi issues we were having on the first day.
There were a couple of things that could be improved to make the cottage even better for future guests. We were told that there would be two sets of keys in the lockbox but there was only one. This didn't bother us as we only needed one but might be helpful for others to have the option of two. The oven settings have been rubbed off so it was difficult to tell whether you were grilling or cooking! There was a lingering dog smell in the cottage when we first arrived which I guess is one of the difficulties of having dog-friendly accommodation. It would also be really helpful to have a little booklet of attractions/walk recommendations for the local area.
Having said that, all in all we had an amazing time and would definitely recommend Derwentwater for anyone looking for a enjoyable stay in the Lake District!

We have stayed many times at this property and it never disappoints. The large paddock is great for the dog to play. The quiet location is perfect and the cottage is ideal for a relaxing, dog-friendly break.

We stayed for 7 nights with our two young girls. The property was very clean and comfortable- all the kitchen appliances were particularly spotless. Beds were comfortable, lovely blinds in bedrooms (perfect for black out with kids) and you could tell that someone had put a lot of thought into how to make the place extra comfortable for a longer break- I.e. hooks on backs of all doors, lots of places to hang wet coats near radiators, lots of cupboard space in the kitchen and shelves in convenient places in the bathroom etc. The views were beautiful and we enjoyed our little terrace even though the weather wasn’t great while we stayed.
We found the kitchen items provided were perfect for basic meals and my only comment would be that the frying pans need replacing as it was very difficult to cook with them. Saucepans seemed new and worked great. A really lovely stay and we would definitely recommend to others.

Stayed in Dewentwater Cottage, part of Graythwaite How in Far Sawrey.
Accommodation was slightly smaller than we thought, We had 3 adults though, one with walking issues and it was good for what we needed. Very clean, and tidy, everything worked well in the kitchen. TV was limited, but wifi worked well. Shower was very small (and we are a tad overweight), but water pressure very good and plenty of hot water so again for holiday let you dont need much. Lovely little patio with views as well to Estwaite water. Bedrooms were small again, and beds were a little soft for us with back issues, but nothing wrong with them really.
Wonderful location, quiet with only small country lanes to get there so its a slow drive, was easy to find. But local pub in village, with National Trust Hill Top and B&B/hotels that serve food as well. Short drive to Hawkshead and easy to get to Coniston and Windermere. We went to Grasmere, Hawkshead, steam train and Windermere boat ride, which are easily accessible. Hawkshead has a Coop and so does Coniston, lots of little cafes a short drive out. Joeys Cafe at Claife Viewing station is lovely and friendly. Didnt know it was vegan til we got there, but the Vegan Sausage rolls were surprising nice, even though I really wanted meat!
More importantly, we had 2 dogs, great for them, with patio and a field behind and lots of country lanes for walks (didnt let them off lead though)

A lovely stay only improvement is
The heating needs to be on as it was cold on arrival
Some lighting on the courtyard as it was on pitch black.
The step up to the front needs a fluorescent nosing as it’s not visible and my husband tripped and fell again due to how dark it was on arrival

We enjoyed a much-needed relaxing week at Derwentwater. The cottage was comfy and cosy and provided everything we needed.
We have stayed here several times and hope to come back.
