My wife and I spent a long weekend in Newport and are so happy that we chose The Pell. When looking at hotels within in Newport at the end of October I was greeted with rates from $500 to $900 per night. The rooms appeared to be all small with "period" furniture, aka on the verge of being a possible questionable antique. Parking was an additional $30 to $40 charge. The Pell was recently renovated about 1.5 years ago. Rooms were large, clean and comfortable. There was an actual shower with decent pressure. A Nespresso machine and small fridge. The Pell was only an 8 to 10 minute drive into the heart of Newport. We easily found street parking at $2.00 an hour

Floors are a little thin, and you can hear people walking above you if you are a light sleeper. No elevators, carry your luggage up and down stairs- although they will help you if requested Breakfast in the attached restaurant was just average.

Very friendly staff at front desk, who had to help us up the stairs with our luggage due to hotel not having an elevator. My cousin has a disability and can’t navigate the stairs without help with bags, and the lack of elevator was not specified in the listing. Next time I now know to ask for a ground floor accessible room. Unfortunately we didn’t stay long enough to try the bar/restaurant, but would definitely do that next time. The rooms were extremely clean, with comfy mattress and pillows. A shelf in the shower for shampoo, etc. would have been really helpful. I had to put my bottles on the shower floor to use. The scent of the provided bath products was very strong so I couldn’t use them. I also would have liked a small microwave. But overall, I would stay here again! Thanks to an awesome staff!

Comfortable bed, convenient to many sights in Newport, and the restaurant was good. There are no elevators so if you have a 2nd-4th floor room be prepared to take the stairs! The fitness center is small but decent. All in all an enjoyable stay.

The hotel was clean and was well priced. Being close to the Newport mansions made it a great option for us. Only down side was the service in the bar. We were definitely ready for cocktails. However, the bartender was either very overworked, but it didn’t seem that way, or just poorly trained. After 15 min of waiting and only two others at bar, we gave up and went to bed.

Newly remodeled and one of the better spots near Newport that doesn’t break the bank… will be my new business travel spot to stay.

The Pell was an unexpected wonderful surprise. Very tastefully decorated, very nice staff and very spacious rooms. The beds were comfy, the bartender we saw nightly was amazing and there were some nice places to stretch your legs and meet others. We do wish the room coffee was better and the shower would have had shelves for personal toiletries or a stand in the shower, but otherwise we have no complaints! We would happily stay here again.

Overall everything, but on Sunday night could not watch football in room. We had to go down to the hospitality suite to see that channel

We were really disappointed by this hotel, especially for how expensive it was (almost $700 for two nights). From the pictures, it looked pretty, new and modern. What we didn't realize was that it is located right off of a busy street and you can hear EVERYTHING, both in and outside of the hotel. We heard our neighbors flush the toilet, run the shower, walk around the creaky floors upstairs, and listen to TV. I heard the woman across the hall place her dinner order, a baby crying, someone else's alarm going off, a dog with a squeak toy (hotel is pet friendly), planes flying overhead, and cars, trucks and motorcycles in the parking lot and on the busy street. We were roused both mornings around 7:00 a.m. due to how noisy the hotel was. Also, the parking lot is right outside of your window and the hotel does not have an elevator. We missed that fact in our research on Hotels.com. My friend had a physical ailment that made stairs difficult and we had a lot of luggage, so we secured a room on the first floor. That meant that when people stood right outside our window on the sidewalk, we could hear their conversation, and headlights were pointed into our window. There was no privacy unless you had your blackout curtains drawn. It looked like an old motel that someone tried to modernize but you entered your room from the inside. It was nice if you didn't look too close, but even the remodeling work was poorly done.

Dumpster being changed around 3 am was very noisy Also lots of outside noise which sounded like construction going on until midnight. Other than noise, I’d give it 5 stars
