Breakfast is pretty good and diverse. The location is perfect with both the train station and city center a few meters away.
We found the room a bit smelly and, therefore, it needed frequent aeration, probably because the carpet floor would require thorough cleaning.
The bottle of water in the room at the arrival as well as the towels for the sauna are for pay, which makes you feel a little bit less welcome, especially in a hotel of this category and price range.

There was a confusion about the Mineralwater in the room. It was not free. The room was big enough but very hot.

After 950 km. drive. we arrived a little before 9pm and checked in with a very kind and helpful receptionist. Had seen on the homepage that the restaurent should be open to 10pm. We went to the restaurent at 9pm - at the same time when two meals were carried from the kitchen in to some guests. But: We were rejected a table (even there were many empty tables) by a quite negative and unfriendly waiter, because we had not made a reservation. If we had not made a reservation, we were told, we could not expect that the kitchen had procured enough raw materials for feeding us. Even we asked for what disches they had materials to cook - and offered to just order that, we were still refused.
We ended up walking through the city to maybe 5 restaurents with "closed klitchen" before we found one who served some very good ribs, at a small place called "Rib Publik", Shilderstrasse 57. But, this is simply not good enough at a relatively expensive hotel like Hotel Der Achtermann.

I love the hotel, it's located fantastic, right next to the old town. the receptionist was very helpful. The room/cleaning was fine.

Extremely hot room, no ventilation. Towards the Street with a LOT of noice during the whole Night. Bartender did only speak German.

Room was noisy, in front of hotel a railway track noisy people crying and made any kind of noise toll 2:00 am. The room wasn’t in a good condition and it didn’t live up to the expectations of a four star hotel. It really needs a renovation. But for one night in lovely Goslar it somehow worked. We could sleep and get rested for the next part of our trip.

The hotel was well situated with the centre and Train station a short walk away. The breakfast was good and the Room was very spacious even with 3 beds. A lovely hotel and would highly recommend if staying in goslar

All staff were very friendly! Perfect location as everything is close by at walking distance. Rooms are spacious and very clean.

The bathroom was uncomfortably small. There were no basic amenities in the bathroom, like a small bottle of shampoo or lotion or a bottle of water in room. The pillows were in name only and were so worn out that they served no purpose. The bed was uncomfortable. Most importantly they did not clean our room. The check out time is 10 am and the fee for being an hour late for check out is $100. I don't recommend staying here. The Romantic Hotel is a better option and very centrally located.
