Excellent host - very friendly and accommodating, he has travelled extensively and happy to share his experiences. The decor reflects the hosts travels with many artifacts from Africa and elsewhere. The host is also a great artist so the decor is really delightful. The location is superb - very quiet by the stream yet only 10 min walk to the main street with restaurants. The beds very very comfortable and the breakfast was healthy and tasty.

This place was a pleasant surprise - everything was to my liking.

The Gîte is a beautiful property on a very quiet location. My room was quite spacious with a view to the well-maintained garden. The few feeders around the house attracted some beautiful species in the morning.

On arrival, the owner requested an Interac bank transfer (no credit or debit cards) as payment had not been taken. I didn't know, but accepted, and waited until they saw the funds in their account to be allowed in. I was all wet from a +100 km bike ride under pouring rain, and I was lucky that my bank was fast. As others mentioned, breakfast is not good. I was given a small bowl of yogurt (I don't consume dairy) with strawberries, a small pancake with maple syrup and strawberries again, and filtered coffee. Travel tip: I had a yummy second breakfast at the bagel place in front of the cathedral. In particular, I didn't like an inappropriate comment from the staff, that I was provided used rubber slippers to wear inside, that I was told where to seat, what to eat, how to lock a door, and not said goodbye when I left. Hospitality is the reason I choose a B&B or a lodge over a hotel or motel.

Gilbert has a beautiful home filled with both own works of art and with artifacts collected from his many trips to Africa and Central America. It was a great experience staying there.

It was 28.5 celcius in our room when we went to bed so very uncomfortable. Was very hot in the whole house. Breakfast could be improved. Very sweet breakfast is not for everyone.

Great location. Spacious room. Gilbert is an excellent host. The breakfasts were delicious. The decor was interesting, and beautifully decorated.

The room was very nice, comfortable and large with an outdoor balcony. Everything was clean and well organized. We felt safe given our stay was towards the end of the 1st wave of the pandemic. Host was friendly and gave excellent dinning suggestions. Breakfast was delicious. Beautiful gardens on the property and right beside the river.

I would have liked to see the water, this is a waterfront property but not visible.

Excellent service. Beautiful art. Relaxing location near waterfall and beautiful gardens. We stayed for one night before our departure on the P’tit Train du Nord cycling trail. Our stay exceeded our expectations.
