The location was really A+ --right across the beach and Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve.

Hotel is starting to get a bit run down.

The location is amazing!! It's right by the main entrance to Sunset Beach. I had a view from the second floor, with a balcony, and it looked out over the beach. Technically it's not right on the beach, because there is the parking lot to the beach, and then there is a row of little houses where people live, but the houses are small, and the motel basically sees over them if you're on the second floor. How wonderful it is to get up in the morning and see the ocean out the window! I enjoyed just relaxing in the room with the balcony sliding door open, glancing out and seeing all the people with their bikes and surfboards. The front desk person was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and quiet. The bed was very comfortable. There was a parking garage on the bottom level where I parked my rental car. I loved it here!

One thing I did not know about the hotel when I first reserved a room there, because this was not apparent online, is that there is a street side and an ocean side. The street side has king beds, and the ocean side has two queen beds - I think that's what the front desk person told me. You pay a little bit more for the ocean side, but it is well worth it! I upgraded to the ocean side at the hotel, and they had one room left on the second floor, and it was the best!! The street side is noisier, and it doesn't have a good view of anything really. I would recommend second floor on the ocean side for sure. This hotel is older, but it's nicely kept up. Staying here was wonderful. I would gladly stay here again.
