If you are looking to get away from it all, this is the place. We arrived and all you could hear is nature and the creek waterfalls right below the house. It is very secluded and exactly what we were looking for. There is a hiking trail right outside the house that lead us an overlook for Grandfather Mtn. The dogs enjoyed the waterfalls and pools to cool off in. The house had everything needed to cook and enjoy a peaceful and serene weekend. We spent both nights on the back deck just listening to the rushing water below. We will definitely be back soon!

While the property itself was nice. The water access was very grown up and not as easy to access but it did have nice water close to the property once you got there. My biggest complaint was the 9 mile dirt road to the property which took approx 40-45 min to maneuver. Very bumpy and dusty. Once there you would have no access to any restaurant unless back down the dirt road. Left after first night. We rented to be close to The Highland Games. The road to that was much worse. The property manager forgot to send me the code but there was no signal out there had to drive back to borrow someone’s land line to call. He did respond quickly and apologized. I would not rent it again but it was a very secluded property

Rented this property as it is listed as wheelchair accessible which is technically true but this is an old house & the layout was not conducive to a wheelchair.
Listing as waterview which is not true in the summer time. THE WATERFALL & BEACH near THE HOUSE IS AMAZING & WE ENJOYED IT. However, i was expecting my sister to be able to see the creek from the house or at least from the deck which was not possible.
SECLUDED IS AN UNDERSTATMENT ! Research the area before booking so you know what to expect 7.5 miles on BMB road (a dirt road) to reach this house. If you come & stay without leaving for excursions this would be a great spot large yard, great creek, fire pit. Less than a mile to a swimming hole on the creek. Betsy’s store is close by if you have to get something but also very pricey we bought several bags of ice definitely pay for the convenience as the ice maker did not work & there were only 4 ice trays.Thursday BMB road was closed; we had go out hwy 90 for our trip to Linville falls. It took an hour & more than half the trip was on a rough dirt road which was single lane with switchbacks in many spots
House needs a deep cleaning; you could tell that it had been surfaced cleaned prior to our arrival, linens and towels were provided and clean. Kitchen was well stocked for cooking with plenty of seHouse needs a little TLC overall & a lighting upgrade. surround sound system & couches were great for a family movie. Visited in July no AC in downstairs bedroom

Our family of five stayed here for the weekend and enjoyed being able to escape the world for a bit.
The house is fairly clean but obviously not used much. Lots of dust everywhere and lots of dead bugs in the corners and the light fixtures. There are also wasps coming from somewhere - we killed eight of them in the first 30 minutes of getting to the house. There are two bathrooms, but the upstairs one is really the only one you want to use - the other is small, not well lit, kinda dirty, and has a toilet that fits a toddler. As with all home rentals, the beds are semi comfy and the pillows kind suck. The kitchen is decently stocked with enough items to cook a meal. But the whole house really needs a deep clean.
What really makes this house worth it is the yard. The creek that runs behind the house is awesome. Pools to wade in, rocks to slide down, etc. The kids had a great time playing there all weekend.
So if you’re looking for a house in the middle of no where to stay in all weekend (and you don’t need a super clean place) this may be an option.

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend stay at this property. One of my favorite things was sitting on the deck reading a book and listening to the rushing water from the creek below; so relaxing! I also enjoyed opening the kitchen window in the mornings and listening to the rushing water as I prepared breakfast for my family.
It was so nice to have a comfortable place to stay and bring our dogs. Our chocolate lab thoroughly enjoyed playing and swimming in the creek each day!
We hiked both to the waterfall as well as the Grandfather overlook (which is where the trailhead leads from the upstairs door) while we were there.
Don't forget your bug spray with all the hiking and time at the creek. We plan to visit again! Such a lovely stay!

Large property with private water fall and creek running though the yard, plus hiking trails right from the back door.
My two German Shepards dogs love playing in the water fall running around free, coming back again.
Love it.

We completely enjoyed our stay. The house and property were amazing. Between the stream and water falls in the back yard or the hiking trail behind the house, it was all great and added to our wonderful stay! Thanks!

I planned this surprise weekend trip to celebrate my husband & adult twins birthdays (turned 19) in February. We also brought our senior dog who is like another child to us/sibling to our kids, but can't handle the stress of being around other people or dogs. This was the PERFECT get-away from it all!! We were able to unwind, unplug, and get back to nature (& one another). Other than the beautiful & comfy home that gave each of us plenty of our own space, our favorite time was spent exploring the trails behind the home & the walks down to the creek right outside the front door. We loved that it was so secluded from the chaos of the cities, but had everything we would want to do right there on the property! We hope to be able to go back & stay during all four seasons to capture all it's beauty.

We had a wonderful time at the property. We work with the owner on a couple of issues on this record cold weekend. We will be back next year.

The grounds of this property are amazing! We spent more time exploring than we did inside. We used the outdoor fire on the deck every night. The sounds of rushing water could be heard from the deck and was very relaxing. Be prepared getting to the property as you go along lots of gravel dirt roads. Be prepared if going into Blowing Rock as the roads are winding and narrow at times. Avoid driving around at night. The house itself was quaint and a little tight, especially in the kitchen, though there were 6 of us so as long as some were in the living room it all worked out. Was very disappointed that the downstairs shower did not work. It barely trickled and did not warm up. Owner was not easily accessible to help with the issue, and hopefully it has been fixed, Lots of clutter outside on the deck, some of the concrete steps were breaking apart. It is definitely an older home, and needs some tender care, but don’t expect to be surfing the internet as it was slow. My family had a great time and think this would be a fun summer visit with all the creeks and waterfalls.

Great location. Beautiful views and quick access to hiking, falls, and creek. Entire family enjoyed hiking to see views of the mountains and then cooling off amd playing in the creek that runs along the back of the property. Exactly what we were looking for.

Awesome property, house not comfy and clean
We really tried to make the best out of our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed the property and exploring around it. Couldn’t ask for a better location to unplug.
There were issues upon arrival, like gritty dirty countertops, flies and various bugs accumulated in windows and on counters, a wad of black hair on nightstand, a science experiment of mold and funk growing in the grills provided, cobwebs above the beds in master….. you get the picture. I felt like I needed to clean before we could settle in.
The owner/manager is very nice, the maid service is lacking.
We were all so thankful to come home and take showers and wash clothes as we just didn’t feel clean while there.
This is sad because the property and house is unique and has a ton of history I’m sure.
I did make owner aware as he possibly doesn’t visit property in between stays.

A fantastic remote cabin
The cabin was amazing, it had all sorts of hidden features. 10 miles down a dirt road to get there though. We hope to be back, highly recommend.

Fabulous
The house was exactly as described. Way off the beaten path but that's what we were looking for. The weather was perfect, the outdoor pond and waterfall were perfect for exploring for both young and old. Just a wonderful time.

Relaxing Getaway
We spent the weekend at BML and had a great time! So many trails to explore as well as an awesome creek right in the backyard.
I do recommend making sure not to arrive after dark as it is WAY off the beaten trail.
We look forward to coming back!

Fabulous property. Love the quirky rustic house on the beautiful land with stream/waterfall. I could walk that property and listen to the rushing water all the time. We will be back😃

Beautiful and rustic retreat
We found Brown Mountain Lodge to be a unique place to get away from it all in the beautiful Wilson Creek Gorge area. The property is beautiful and we loved being able to immerse ourselves in nature while enjoying modern comforts. Plan to pack in all the food and beverages you’ll need for your stay.

Brown Mountain Lodge Vacation
This property was great exactly as described. We really enjoyed our stay at brown mountain lodge this was a vacation that we could take our dog Charlie along so he really enjoyed the creek with waterfall in front of house. Sound of the rushing water was very relaxing.

Granddog getaway
We enjoyed a long weekend at Brown Mountain Lodge with our son and his Bernedoodle. The spaciousness of the property was great for walking and hiking while letting the dog off leash to run free. We especially enjoyed seeing Linville Falls and other natural falls in the Collettsville area as well as traveling the dirt roads and seeing the mountains on paths and trails and “roads less traveled”. Clean air, tall trees and thick undergrowth, and flowing, rocky mountain creeks were everywhere! We never drove in to Boone or Blowing Rock because that was not the focus of the trip. We would definitely stay at Brown Mountain Lodge again! Thanks!

Off the beaten path for sure! Beautiful property with a creek, waterfall and small swimming hole. Be prepared for plenty of dirt roads, but so worth it.

Perfect place to unplug
When they say remote they mean it. There is an amazing waterfall that you can constantly hear from all around the property. There is a great hiking trail right out your back door. We enjoyed unplugging and spending time hiking and floating in Wilson Creek.

Short but nice
Would have liked to have stayed longer. Great house. Surroundings are like paradise. We took our dog. He just loved it. Water fall, huge yard, and wading in the water. Only thing, he cut his foot in the first 20 minutes we were there. We had to leave early to take care of his paw. We will go back someday soon though. Just a great place.

Mountain Paradise
The property is amazing. If you love being outdoors, hiking, fishing, this one is for you. The house is unique, not your typical cabin. The outdoor cooking/eating space is perfect for grilling and S’mores. There is a waterfall nearby and trails right outside the door. We can’t wait to visit again and stay even longer!

Outdoor ADVENTURE
While the property is tough to get to, especially at night, it was perfect for our rambunctious little family. The back door literally open to the trails for hiking and up to a waterfall and the front door open at a 100 yard trail to a water fall. It is super dog friendly, and mostly kid friendly minus the stairs and iron stove. It’s rustic. We are outdoorsy and it was just our style but know that going in- this is a cabin not a Hilton. If you are skiing, the resorts are a little bit of a haul but it’s totally do-able if there’s no snow on the roads. We have an SUV, but some people in our group had lower cars and the 9 mile gravel rd did cause some issues for them. Just be prepared. Enjoy!

Wonderful Getaway!
House was pretty much perfect! The only negative was I believe a thorough cleaning should be done at least once a quarter on the whole home. It sits up some and collects dust and cobwebs but, that can be expected if it isn’t occupied all the time. We made great use of the deck and the grills and enjoyed the walking trails. They all want to go ahead and start thinking of a trip back with a longer stay. Kids in warmer weather would have a ball with the trails and the water and big yards to play in!

If you want to get away from it all, this is the place. It was a pretty neat house. Had the weather been better I could have sat outside and listed to the rushing creek all day. It was a little further from the ski slopes than we thought. So it is definitely a fun spring, summer or fall destination. We would love to return in the summer to explore the falls. I absolutely loved that they are so well prepared for our four legged family members. Providing cozy blankets for them as well as food and water bowls (we had brought our own but it's a great touch) Any concerns we had, the owner quickly responded.
