It was adequate and clean
The staff who were running it from the bar were very unfriendly. I feel unwelcome. Of course there was a language barrier but there are pleasant ways to communicate. If you can speak Spanish it would be okay to stay there otherwise not such a good idea

Smooth check in at the bar getting in from the train which doesn’t run that often. Good water pressure and heat. Nice to have a window looking out over the market entrance. Elevator.
Small beds jammed into the corner. Towels smelled like they were dried next to someone smoking a cigar. Cleaning staff started stripping our room before check out.

Nice clean comfortable hotel room with elevator. Checkin at the cafe across street. Friendly staff were very helpful and cafe was open early for good breakfast. We stayed here on Sunday so most of the businesses nearby were closed. But we found a nice restaurant La Mafia within short walk that was opened till 4 (then at 8) served good Italian dishes. Great friendly service. Treat yourselves to their signature drinks, pasta, pizza and grilled vegi dishes. Save some room for dessert of Hot Apple pie at McD for desert!!

Only stayed a night and had all you needed for a very comfortable stay. Short walking distance to the old town, bars and shops.

also provided very useful hoistoric and local information that made the trip to Ponferrada the best with out doubt

The noise in the building was unbelievably bad. I booked this room to catch up on some sleep during my travels, but this was easily the worst night of sleep I had, even coming from albergues on the Camino. Doors slamming and people shouting in the building at all hours of the afternoon, evening, night and early morning. On my floor, other floors, right outside my door, all very loud. Woken up repeatedly by noise.
While the noise is not the fault of the hostel per se, to me it means the room is not fit for purpose. At least some attempt should be made to advise residents to keep noise down between certain hours. It was a high price to pay for 3 - 4 hours of sleep.
As bad as the noise - there was no heating in the room on a cold November night.
You must check-in at the restaurant across from the hostel, the experience can be a bit slow while staff members are also serving customers here. There is no reception, you check-in at the bar, and at a busy time or with a lot of luggage this may be difficult.
