The fact that it was so well taken care of!
Our room Was located on the side where there was a raunchy bar with very loud music

The historic preservation of this hotel is amazing. Extraordinarily maintained and preserved. Felt like we were staying in a place back in time.
The beds were a bit too hard for our preference. Other than that, everything was great.

hotel is beautiful and full of history
Checked in late Tuesday night and young lady at front desk was not very friendly.

The hotel's ambience is excellent. Guests can take a tour, and I found the information very informative (plus lovely for photos). The room was very comfortable, with lovely furniture and decor.
The restaurant was supposed to be open until 10pm, but there was no one there at 9pm (though there are a lot of restaurants nearby, so it wasn't a problem).

the hotel was stunning and the room was large, comfortable and the amenities were upscale. There is plenty to see and do just in the hotel. They give tours and our room, The Christina, featured beautiful chandeliers, sconces, and antique furniture. the bathroom was well equipped, plenty of hot water with great water pressure and washcloths. note in Europe and Mexico washcloths are not to be taken for granted. This hotel had quality linen and towels. The location is fantastic, in el centro, yet on one of the more quiet streets. We had complementary Continental breakfast that was sufficient and satisfying and the service was superb.
absolutely nothing

Beautiful property and wonderful rooms. staff very helpful and pleasant.
too long a wait for water to become hot. we hate wasting water, but 3-4 minutes of running the tap before the hot water arrives is wasteful.

the building is simply spectacular. both the rooms and the common areas are plush and full of character.
breakfast was a bit disappointing

A unique museum hotel with a rich heritage. Each room is furnished with European Antiques from different periods. Our room was very comfortable and the staff were very courteous and attentive. The tour of the hotel was interesting & provided insight into the past including the additions made by the Augustine monks.
Great location. We walked to all the major plazas, sights, restaurants & museums.

Loved the location, the preservation of the hotel, and the attention of the hotel staff. The hotel tour was pretty amazing. The greeter was super friendly and was always ready to provide a suggestion for a place to eat.
The receptionist was very rude when we first arrived. She did not make us feel welcomed. She did apologize afterwards but it was a rocky start. The free breakfast included in the price is very small. It consists of a drink and sweet bread.

It is a museo and not a normal operating hotel in the old town of San Luis Potosi. All accommodations are great but have in mind it is a 300+ year building that have been updated to today standards with the original present in mind.
The staff speaks very little English but management are working to rectify it. So bring your Spanish dictionary :-)

Staff was attentive
For The high price they should’ve offered more than fruit for breakfast. The place is very old and musty smelling. They play too much music you cannot find a quiet place. Terraza does not have any comfortable place to sit and no shade. The lobby is not very comfortable. The whole places smells and feels very old and stuffy.

The building was impressive. It was very much like a palace and a museum. The location was also fantastic -- being in the old town close to all the attractions.
The breakfast, which we paid for in our room rate, was awful. It consisted of a bowl of stale/mushy fruits and a small assortment of stale muffins. The servers were not at all interested in serving us. Also they first gave us the a la carte menu to order from without bringing out the breakfast included in our room rate. So, if you are planning to stay at this hotel, choose the 'Room only' option and not the 'Breakfast included' option.
The staff are not too friendly. The reception desk clerk -- a young girl -- ignored us for a good two minutes as we waited to check in and continued doing whatever she was doing on her cell phone. A nod or a smile would have been appropriate.

A beautifully restored colonial hotel. Comfortable rooms and a nice breakfast.
All the beauty this hotel has is ruined by an ambivalent staff and poor management. When we arrived (4:00pm) my pre-paid accommodation had been mislaid while a friend’s reservation (not pre-paid) was waiting. After a wait of 30 minutes we were shown to our room and carried most of our own luggage. The room was located down two flights of stairs, through a dark tunnel (with water dripping on the floor from the ceiling)which had no lighting other than our cell phones and up a flight of stairs. We then proceeded through a public underground dining area (not occupied) and up some stairs to the door of our room (adjacent to a public restroom). The room was a large dungeon. Entirely underground and smelling of the damp, mold, and a peculiar petroleum smell which I assume was from the muck filled mine shafts we passed on the way. Did they really believe that we would want to go through that every time we entered and left the room? Needless to say we were given adequate accommodation in another room. And the welcome placard said, “Welcome Mr. Perez enjoy your stay!”

Excellent Breakfast and Excellent Service .
Everything was fine.
4.5
The location is excellent. It is easy to walk to all points of interest. The hotel is very historic and the staff are proud of its past. The hotel has a book on the hotel's history available for guests. Furnishings and art in this old property are exceptional. The service at the front desk was pleasant and everyone was quite helpful.
Room service and restaurant and beverage service was slow at times. There is no separate bar area, although alcoholic beverages are available upon request.

The furniture is beautiful and talks to you. Such a rich history. The pictures that are on the site are better than mine. I always choose to just absorb the surroundings. Never imagined staying at a museum.
