Great location in the town center. Spacious room

Simone, the main host, is an "angel in disguise". In addition to providing lots of very interesting and useful information, he went out of his way to help us resolve a personal issue. Liberi Mercanti is well located in the historic centre of Lucca, yet it's very quiet. The shared kitchen was a great gathering place for conversation with other pilgrims and travellers. There is a grocery store around the corner and lots of great places to eat nearby. And the washer and dryer were a real bonus.

It's true, there are lots of stairs, but they are very manageable. It's a personal choice and for us the fantastic location and great value for money outweighed a few extra stairs..

Not only great room with fabulous bathroom but also shared kitchen with huge dining table! Bicycles to use, washing machine, fantastic location close to all attraction and friendly Simone who was easy to communicate with and full of information. Thanks to the shared areas, the accommodation has a ‘communal feel” and I have met some wonderful people there - that made me enjoy my stay in Lucca even more.

One of the best places we ever stayed. It's simple but it has everything you need. It really feels like you live in Lucca. It's also right in the center with easy access to any landmark. The staff is friendly and helpful!

Very good host! Perfect location. Big room and big bathroom was lovely to get ready in. Surprised to have such a good kitchen to use. Including even washing machine and tumble dryer. Even an air conditioning unit in the room. Very useful when it's hot. A fan just doesn't cut it.

Lots of stairs to get to the place but it is Italy and very old buildings without lifts are common. Just something to think about if you struggle with stairs.

Simone was exceptional! He helped me in many ways! ie, got me a toaster to toast my bread, helped with with the train station and just and all around very nice man! you couldn’t find a better host! very happy!

Great location in Lucca. It was a large room and bathroom. Air conditioning. Tonnes of character. Communal kitchen with large fridge and a washing machine.

Clean, but a little tired. However, it was great value for money and the staff were really really helpful and friendly. They made some great suggestions for places to visit and places to eat. There are also couple of bikes for guest use (but we didn’t use them). We would stay again.

The location is very handy, in city center so we could walk everywhere around. Elena helped us with everything even the issue with the car and parking. They are very welcoming and offer any help. I'd stay in the same place if I travelled to Lucca again.

Maybe the bed wasn't very comfortable, so it might be better, but enjoyed everything else.

A super location and the staff is really friendly and helpfull. The room was very clean and tidy. The room is also very spacious. The room is in a very nice old building and the appartment has a sufficient kitchen.

Our bathroom was across the hallway instead of attached to the room.

Really uncomfortable beds. Not very clean, and many of the utilities didn't work.

After a long journey I was told to message on arrival and someone would come in 3 minutes to check me in ...I waited 15 until someone arrived. No apologies offered. The air conditioning had not been put on in advance so the attic studio was hot enough to cook bread..I asked if there was a bottle of water for me in the fridge and was instructed, rather rudely, to drink from the tap. The portable air conditioning unit proved to be totally inadequate. In the shower there were 3 bottles of shower gel/shampoo, two of which were completely empty. After venturing to the nearby shop to buy supplies to stock the fridge I noticed a rather suspicion hair inside it. The refrigerator had not been cleaned for a long time. As someone involved in the hospitality industry I would advise that the property needs better management. In other words you need to up your game.

Really polite and helpful host. We’ve done a mistake with our booking and he solved all our problems. You can use the bikes for free, you have a washing machine, kitchen and air conditioner. As a welcome present he gave us delicious ice cream and good information for travelling.

Simone is a mine of information and offers so much of this upon welcoming one to the apartment. The communal kitchen worked well, and there is a washing machine. Easy walking distance from the station with light luggage. Accommodation in the heart of Lucca's old town, with bountiful restaurants and a grocery store right round the corner from the apartment.

FYI...NO elevator - 56 steps to the apartment 😄

Great place and very friendly. I'm very much looking forward to staying there again.

The hosts were so nice! They really made an effort to make us feel at home and the atmosphere in the house just was very comfortable and happy. The room was very nice and comfortable. We fully recommend this place to anyone.

What a host! Very friendly, helps carrying the luggage and gives you advice about what to do in Lucca. The place is very nice and right in the city center. Especially the bathroom is very authentic. I would recommend this place to everyone who visits Lucca.
