Very large but cosy house with amazing view! Beautiful sunset. House inside is a bit dark, but that is because it’s a fulltime restored old house and it is very well done.

Beds could have been a size wider. Beds are queensize….

The house is amazing, beautiful, comfortable, very well equiped, and the view is stunning. Very cool bathrooms. The location is perfect to visit Mosteiros (beach, natural pools, hot spring) and the lakes near Sete Cidades. Thank you to Maria Joao, Rui and Goretti for their advice and for a wonderful stay.

We were unlucky to have a power cut which meant we weren't able to open the (electric) front gate to get the car out. Rui and Goretti were very helpful to find a solution.

The house is situated in a beautiful calm part of the island near the village of Mosteiros where you can get a very tasty octopus! The house itself is huge - it is designed for 6-8 people and we were 4 - so we were a bit like Alice in wonderland. Kitchen is lovely social place and you have stone barbecue outside aswell. Everything is nice and clean but still traditional. The view. I mean you open the door and you can spend whole vacation just sitting in the garden enjoying the view of Mosteiros, green hills and ocean. So relaxing. Plus there will be a horse watching you from time to time :). Definitely good place to stay.

Driving on the island can be pretty terrifying. Be careful for cars parked on the road, local people hard breaking without sign just to get the exit, people walking at night without any light.

The house was a great home base for a winter escape from Boston. The kitchen had almost everything one might need, and there were local goodies waiting for us to sample when we arrived. The owner has added a nice additional bathroom in an out building that made sharing the house for four people much easier. The view down to the water from the property was incredible, and it felt rustic to watch the farmer next door move his horses to the pasture next to the house every morning.

None of these things are deal breakers, but the house could get a bit musty--probably because we were there in the winter, but lighting a fire in the evening fixed this problem (there was tons of firewood and the maid replenished our store of wood halfway through the week) . It's important to note that the property is a 40-minute drive down winding roads from Ponta Delgada and took over 1.5 hours to get to places like Furnas, but it was a wonderful home base for our trip. I wouldn't rent this home unless you are planning to have your own car though.
