Small, comfortable and tidy compound direkly at the beach.
Excellent combination of European standard and local connections.
Matemwe is a quiet area with beautiful wide sandbeaches, without big party-restaurants around.
Excellent restaurant with changing local seafood and good breakfast.
The Owner is more than helpful in arranging high quality activities for a reasonable price, which support the surrounding nature and the local community.

The ocean view room with balcony is gorgeous. The food is superb. Nice swimming pool. Friendly and helpful staff.

Great place to stay right on the beach, with excellent food choices, lovely staff, and well kitted out rooms - a place to lock things up, ample soft towels and hot water, thoughtful touches like sarongs and woven hats for the beach, and a nice pool to relax by. I would stay again!
Not at all the fault of the hotel, but there's so much trash on the beach itself, I wish it had felt nicer to walk along it.

It was great being right on the wide, white sand beach. The atmosphere of the small hotel was easy-going and the food was so good that we didn't venture to other places to eat.
The road getting there was really a bumpy ride.

Wonderful and very peaceful hotel, with amazing staff. Maria is the heart of the hotel. She is working hard to make sure every single guest has a good time :) She made our stay special as we got a sea view room for our last 3-4 nights as we were on honeymoon 😊
Breakfast is really nice, freshly made omlettes, pancakes, fruits for order. We loved it. A la carte restaurant was also really good :)

this is a delightful hotel, right on the most amazing beach. the owners Maria and Mats welcomed us like guests to their own house and were always available to help with information etc. the food was also very good and good choice. our room with sea views was spacious, quiet and very comfortable.

We had a lovely stay at the Zanzibar retreat. The food is fantastic (we ate almost every meal at the hotel), the beachfront is beautiful, and the staff is very friendly. The room had AC and was very comfortable. The perfect place to spend a couple of days enjoying Zanzibar and relaxing.
There is really not much that Zanzibar Retreat could improve.

The amazing owners created a warm and comfortable atmosphere with many opportunities for privacy and meeting people.
The food never disappointed. The garden view was beautiful.
Dont underestimate the snorkeling possibilities in front of the hotel.

This is a nice little hotel on a goregous beach. The owners and the staff were super helpful and friendly. We were so happy to stay there, it's not too busy and has a really nice pool and beach front. I would definitely recommend this hotel!
