Everything about this place is fantastic. Liana and her staff were charming and helpful, the food was delicious, beer was cold, the facilities are great, location is close to perfect and even the cat was pretty cool. I called it home for 3 nights and would have gladly stayed longer if I could have. They also accept credit cards for a small fee (convenient and not common in CV). You can walk to town in 5 minutes. Liana will suggest excellent hikes that are not commonly known, as well as good spots to eat and drink.

This is not a criticism, it's a caveat: Black Mamba is a lively place in a real local neighborhood. Expect roosters in the morning, football matches on the dusty pitch in the evenings, neighbors chatting outside and the sound of the ocean to lull you to sleep at night. It may not be the best choice for someone who's looking for a very quiet respite or absolute privacy. I wasn't -- I wanted a place with soul. It has plenty.

The owner is making everything to ensure you are happy but she is not pretending. also a great cook! Super clean, great location and aesthetics

If you sleep light it is loud (waves, and lots of animals making noises outside). Cats often jumped on the table while you were eating.

Liana is such an inspiration and is passionate about giving her guests the best experience of Santo Antao. Her hotel is welcoming, quirky, characterful and very comfortable. The food is home cooked and it was a joy to have such excellent vegetarian meals during our stay. Liana gave us great advice for a trek nearby which was absolutely amazing. Liana is a great host. Her cooking is amazing and the staff and herself are helpful and give you tip for hikes and more. Breakfast is also good. I definetly recommend it's a great experience.

The room was really cosy with a good view of the neighbourhood. A lot of common areas to meet other people and work if necessary. It's super close to the ocean so you wake up listening to the waves :)

The toilet discharge wouldn't always work

The shower (the actual shower head) wasn't great. The bathroom was only separated from the bedroom by a half height door.

great location for hiking all across northern and eastern and Santo Antao. Manager is lovely and has fantastic advice on where to go walking and how to plan days. also she went above and beyond to sort out things for the stay.

Liana and the staff made us feel so at home during our stay. They were helpful and created an environment where all the guests could get to know one another, especially over the delicious food and drinks in the restaurant. When I wasn’t feeling well one day, they went above and beyond to help me recover; it was like staying with family.

This place is a must stay in Santo Antao. Great for solo hikers or groups. The host Liana is LOVELY and will make you feel right at home straight away, she helped me plan hikes that I'll never forget!! They also make amazing homemade Italian food whilst you're there i.e. Pizza, ravioli etc. Room was brilliant too, I slept very well in my double bed with en suite!

Very little! The only thing I would recommend is maybe a chalkboard with what is on for breakfast and dinner that day so travellers can decide in their own time but other than that, perfect!

Location is really nice. Easy to get to, right in front of the sea. Liana the owner, is very cool and makes you feel right at home. The breakfirst made with local ingridients was wonderful.

Some local dogs barking to the waves at night almost made me jump out of bed and go down there to shush them! 😂 They eventually quieted down..

Amazing location and host!

Staff was amazing and helpfull, mystic experience the rooms. We stayed in the toner higly reccomemded. Also, the location is great for when you start the hikes in the morning. Food also is great, big portions and tasty. We left a piece of our hearts there. Will be back for sure in the future.

It was just amazing. A lovely place full of good vibes and with a very warm reception. People are very friendly. Had pizza for dinner and it was one of the best I ever had. Can't recommend this place enough.

It is situated near the trails and beautiful valleys, in the green part of the island. The view from the room and the terrace was perfect and you wake up each morning with the sound of the vawes. Breakfast was really nice, always with the fresh fruit. Wifi was a bit shaky in the room, but on the terrace and in the restaurant downstairs was good. The host, Liana, is very friendy and helpful and she makes the best home made pasta and appetizers on the island. I would definitely recommend Black Mamba to everyone visiting Santo Antao.

Liana was extremely helpful which we appreciated a lot. Even though we were only there 1 night we got tonnes of advice on what hikes to do, she organised transport for us and the food was really great. We ended up doing a hike which wasn't on any of the blogs we read which made it special also. We had homemade pasta which was really fresh and tasty. The breakfast was also very good. Black Mamba was really cool, nice little bar dining area downstairs and our room was special and different. Exactly what we were looking for. Overall great value for money. Biggest take away was how helpful Liana was. Thank you Liana, will be recommending friends to come here :)

Great breakfast, Liana is an amazing host, the rooms are lovely and so is the city. The property looks like an adult tree house which we loved.

Everything was great, maybe in the future it'd be better to have a bill at the end of dinners to know how much one has spent, but the management is so great I'm sure they'd take everything on board.
