The Coppice is extremely well equipped with top quality fittings throughout. It is spotless and really comfortable. For us it was an excellent location close to major sites in the southern lakes. Geoff and Gill were excellent hosts who were helpful and on hand but never intrusive. We would highly recommend The Coppice.

We had a clear view of an osprey nest and could easily view the bird’s activities through binoculars or telescope. Very friendly, helpful property owners. Lovely welcome pack. Esthwaite is a beautiful private lake that will allow the launching of private solid hull small craft for a fee. But check with Savage Fishing company at the lake in case rules change.

We landed on our feet here. Beautiful, spacious and comfortable cottage with all the amenities we needed - fully equipped dining kitchen, large comfy bed, large bathroom with bath and separate shower. Comfortable living room including a leather recliner perfect for watching the Ospreys on the nest with binoculars. Gill and Geoff were welcoming hosts and gave great tips for walks in the area.

Gill and Geoff the owner are very lovely people and Gill goes the extra mile to make you feel comfortable . She has great knowledge of the areas around and it was never a problem to ask for advice we needed. The Coppice itself was Perfect , extremely clean and the room sizes are ideal for a couple . All linen and towels were provided and the bed was clean and comfortable, Spotless in fact. There is also Wi-Fi and sky TV . They Coppice is perfectly situated overlooking Esthwhaite water with great access to to many surrounding walks , places of interests and the whole lakes network. We would highly recommend a visit to the Coppice and we are already planning a return visit . Thank You Gill and Geoff .

Very nice property nice and quiet also very clean

Absolutely perfect place for us to celebrate my wife's 50th. Great scenery and short drives to Ambleside, kendal, Windermere and keswick all under an hour. Clean and well set out. Gill and Geoff the property owners where very nice and help us with places to eat. We'll recommended for a peaceful relaxing place to come back to after exploring the beautiful area.

Lovely cottage very peaceful everything you need

The accommodation is clean, comfortable and spacious for a one bedroomed cottage. It is beautifully maintained and the decor is in keeping with its character. Sadly, we only had a couple of days to enjoy the peace, quiet and beautiful scenery (wish it had been longer). The Coppice had everything we needed and our host (Gill) was very welcoming. Thank you.

We loved our stay at The Coppice! We certainly didn't want to leave, and plan to return very soon. Everything was perfect, we had a lovely walk from Ambleside over to Elterwater and back. And couldn't wait to get back to our cosy pad.

Gill and Geoff's cottage is just the most wonderful "get away" for anyone wanting to get away from the stress of day-to-day activities. The cottage is easy to get to, but is also secluded and peaceful. The cottage has been furnished to the highest of standards and is SO warm and comforting. Just down the road from Hawkshead village. Gill and Geoff were the most wonderful hosts. After greeting us, they left us to ourselves to enjoy the seclusion and privacy. We can't wait to go back there (when we have time). We arrived later than we expected, but Gill the host, was lovely and very understanding. The cottage was so cosy and clean we where very pleased with it, felt home from home really. Hawkshead village, that isn’t far at all, such a lovely place, a few quaint shops plus pubs and a coop, such a lovely feel about the place. We are definitely going to be staying again, a nice relaxing stay was needed and had.

The five star reviews for this cottage were spot on as it lived up to all our expectations and more. The hosts were charming and helpful and on hand if needed. The cottage was warm, extremely comfortable and had everything we required. It was the perfect base for our break. We would definitely like to visit again.

This beautiful well equipped cottage is extremely clean, efficient and a pleasure to stay in. We felt we were at home. The bed was so comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed, it was like a tardis, looks tiny on the outside but has more than enough space inside. Enough parking for 2/4 cars and a lovely outlook across fields and trees. Our hosts were so attentive and polite couldn’t do enough and were extremely gracious and easy going when I broke a crystal glass. They are just lovely! It’s so nice that they were there for safety and in case things go wrong! Excellent holiday Hawkshead is lovely the pubs and cafes are fantastic and we were very happy 😊 a relaxing holiday. The cottage was extremely spacious, very well equipped, immaculately clean and within a short distance from Hawkshead. The owners were very hospitable and extremely helpful regarding local information. We would definitely return and recommend this place to others who want a quiet break, yet be within a short distance of all that the Lake District offers. Wonderful scenery of hills, mountains and Esthwaite Water but without the crowds. We had an amazing holiday.

Roomy yet cosy, clean, everything you need, great hosts and great location!

What a place. Its the only cottage I've ever stayed at where I can't think of a single thing I'd change. The property itself is amazing; it's like a tardis once you get inside! Everything was clean and the bed was super comfortable. Lovely large bathroom with bath and separate shower each is great! There was nothing missed when it came to things you might need for your holiday, everything was provided. There was even a little welcome hamper with treats inside and some fresh flowers in the window. Beautiful touch. Loads of private parking and plenty of peace and quiet. If you're wanting to explore the South Lakes, this is the ideal base. A few minutes drive from Hawkshead (which was lovely for an evening stroll and fish and chips outside), which has some lovely little shops and a co op. 10 minute walk from the shore of Esthwaite water and the Osprey centre , and you can be in both Coniston and Ambleside in less than 15 minutes. LOADS to do so close by. Safari Zoo also only 30 minutes drive. The hosts were wonderful, extremely friendly and kind and were there should we need anything at all. We will definitely be back, as this is the best place we've stayed in the Lakes!

What a little treasure we've found, set right in the heart of the lakes, perfect location for walking and visiting the many surrounding towns all of which were equally beautiful. Our cottage was wonderful everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and cosy and our hosts Gill and Geoff were so welcomingand full of information. We would certainly stay again.

The cottage was well equipped, bright and cosy. But had no view over the lake, which I expected. And because I had Corona and had to stay at the cottage, I would have liked that. But in the separate living room there was a TV with sport channels and that made a lot of good ( Wimbledon).

The property was lovely. Comfortable, (comfy bed!) everything we needed was there. The hosts were very friendly. All as per the brochure and excellent quality.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in this spotless, comfortable cottage. Gill and Geoff were welcoming, helpful hosts but in no way intrusive, allowing us to feel relaxed and at home. The location far exceeded our expectations. Although we didn't visit, many of the famous Lakeland towns and attractions are within easy driving distance and the village of Hawkshead is walkable, along the road. As keen walkers, we enjoyed trails direct from the door, with so many paths taking you to the shores of Windermere, Coniston, onto the fells or into the forest. The ospreys were a particular draw for us and it was great watching their behaviour directly from the cottage window! Many thanks- we will be back!

Had a wonderful stay, accommodation first class, warm and cozy. Very central for exploring the beautiful countryside. A big thank you to Gill and Geoff for looking after us and information for exploring. We will definitely return soon. We highly recommend to anyone who would like a holiday at Hawkshead.

This is the third time we have stayed here. Gill and Geoff are wonderful hosts and the spacious cottage is perfectly situated for mountain biking. We were so lucky with the weather plus the ospreys arrived for their season. Fabulous week👍

I bought the 2 day stay for my son and girlfriend. They loved the place so much that within an hour of arriving they had booked to stay another week in August. Beautiful location overlooking Esthwaite Water. Weather was'nt too good when they arrived and the elecrtricity went off but it didn't spoil their stay.

Gorgeous accommodation beautiful area what more could you want! Host very helpful, accommodation had everything we needed. Thank you, would love to return.
