Jedes Jahr schlüpfen in jedem Nest mehrere Küken.

From the birds chirping and waking us up to the glorious view to the eccentric touches of the house, we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Tamales Bay. The kitchens are very well equipped, hot water never ran out and each little outdoor space a little piece of paradise. Excellent location!

We very much enjoyed the large and spacious interior with singular furnishing and art work. We stayed mostly inside due to rain and the pool table was a very welcome and fun diversion.

A group of four dads rented this house for a long weekend to relax and play some music. The setting is beautiful! Lovely gardens and trees surround the house and we really enjoyed spending time on the large deck with a view of the valley. Location was great too.
The house itself is huge! There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the ground floor and the master suite with two beds is on the third floor. We spent most of our time on the second floor, which has the kitchen and lots of living space. We loved the pool table and piano. The kitchen had everything we needed, including oyster knives! The artistic touches were great as well (be sure to check out the cactus on the third floor).
Overall, we would highly recommend staying in this house for a small or large group.
A couple of issues to be aware of. The driveway is steep and it took us a couple of tries to get it right in terms of not spinning the wheels on the gravel, but it's easy enough to get up. One of us had a minivan and it's a tight turnaround to get out, but doable.
Please be advised there is no outdoor hot tub, but there is a jetted tub in the master bath.
Last thing: while this house is "secluded," as the listing says, the owners do live in a smaller house on the property (about 40 feet away) and there is a house immediately to the south of this house. Neither of the houses obstructed views or otherwise got in the way of our enjoyment, but it's more "rustic" than "secluded." Enjoy!

Nice BIG house with quirky art pieces throughout the home and cool murals on the interior. Good place for a bigger group. Convenient location near Pt Reyes Station and Inverness Park but off the main roads. You can walk backroads to Inverness Park store (about one mile). Pretty location with lots of trees and gardens surrounding the house. Owners live next door and were available to answer questions.
The dirt driveway required a little attention for entering and exiting, but it was easy to manage for confident drivers.
We had warm days during our stay and opened the windows to cool down the interior, however most of the home does not have screens on the windows, so we had some mosquitoes. Screens on the windows, especially on top floor, and a fan or two would help in warmer weather.
With extra guest fees for more than 4 people and all of the other fees (VRBO service fee, cleaning, insurance, taxes) it ended up being on the pricey side for our extended family group of 8 people. I realize it is standard for most rentals that the estimated price per night ends up being a lot less than final amount owed. We did have a nice stay overall.

Great location! Perfect for a large family get together!

Really cool home with fun details and art! A little hard for my 2 yo to navigate so many stairs, we had an infant with us that needed the first floor so my family was on the 3rd. It got pretty hot up there as well. It was also hard to find together spaces with so many rooms and 3 floors but then not a lot of comfortable seating.
Overall impressed with the cleanliness and uniqueness of the property and it was super close to point Reyes station shops and restaurant area!

We were very busy with our daughter’s wedding but the house was amazing. We enjoyed our family time at the pool table and the wonderful spaces to eat. They accommodated our large family. We would recommend this place to others. Quiet and secluded.

We had a delightful time at this unique and spacious home. It is a one of a kind home filled with fun things like: antique furniture, murals, artifacts, books, a piano and even a pool table. The natural setting is lovely with plenty of birds, flowers and wildlife. Sherb and Maricel even supplied us with eggs from their chickens. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware and condiments. The location is great as it is near Pt Reyes shopping and restaurants but is on a hill in a very quiet location. We spent 4 happy days here. Sherb was very accessible and came over to help when we needed him. We will definitely plan to return.

We really needed a de-stress getaway with family and choose this place because it looked like it would be quiet. What the owner didnt disclose was that there is loud construction noise starting at 7:30 am very close by and pretty much you cant get away from the noise. We loved the house, and it was very well equipped with everything you could want. but they should let people know about the noise in the ad and they didn't. The parking is also very challenging and you have to deal with a gate. I dented my car trying to get in and out of a very tight spoace with rocks on the edges.

We needed a large house to accommodate 3 families of 4 for a 2 night holiday gathering. There were cheaper, cookie-cutter options, but Sherb and Maricel's house has so much charm and character that it made the stay special for everyone. We loved the rambling layout with 2 kitchens and hidden bedroom through the laundry room. We cooked all our meals in their well-stocked kitchen. The cookware was high quality and in excellent condition, and there were plenty of plates, glasses, and flatware. Having a dishwasher was great! The teens enjoyed the piano and pool table, and the long dining room table allowed us to eat together. The house is close to Point Reyes Station and many great hiking trails. We were able to park 5 cars in front of the house, though it was tight and required some maneuvering. The doors to the house do not have locks, which seemed strange, but we felt safe in the quiet secluded area. We did not meet our hosts in person, but we were able to communicate online easily before and during our stay. This was the perfect house for a memorable family gathering.

Our group of five adults thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay. The house is exactly as shown in the many pictures and there were no surprises. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor common areas to enjoy communal or separate activities. Everyone reported that the beds were very comfortable. The main kitchen is well stocked even for a much larger group and there is also a complete second kitchen that we did not use. The house is close to the town of Point Reyes Station and is a relatively short drive up a narrow road off Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. We found this access convenient for our many outings. In comparison, other rentals in the Point Reyes / Inverness area where we've previously stayed require much longer and twisty drives into the hills. Communications with our host were always prompt and pleasant.

Our extended family gathering for four days was a great success. Sherb and Maricel's home was perfect for our stay. Huge home with privacy for everyone and a deck surrounded by gorgeous trees and foliage. Great art, antique furniture, book collection and a grand piano for sing alongs. We look forward to visiting again soon.

Peaceful and beautiful stay
Our family and our best friends' family stayed a week here and it was lovely. The gardens are gorgeous and the house was big enough for 11 of us (mostly teens and adults). The house is quirky and charming, and kept everyone entertained. The murals, sculptures, and artwork were cool! Lovely views from every window and very peaceful.

Fun, quirky old house
Great property for a large group. House has a lot of personality and interesting artwork, and is surrounded by beautiful foliage. We wished more of the windows had screens on them, as our stay was in August with warm weather and bugs who also wanted to enjoy the inside.

4th of July Reunion
Wow! What a fantastic house! It was way bigger than I had thought from the pictures and reminded our group of a fantastic old inn from another era. We were surprised to learn that it was built the 80's from the owner, because it had the same charm of a 100 year old property. Very spacious and comfortable.

Enjoyable stay
Had a great time in the space. Huge house with far more room than we needed. Love the location... we went and did the elk hike and took a trip out to the pt Reyes lighthouse. Great weekend.

A Fabulous first getaway
Our first vacation out of the pandemic! The property was perfect! Everything was clean, beds were comfy, & kitchen well appointed. The decor was great...make sure to watch for monsters in closets ;) & the deck provided a perfect spot to set up my son's telescope. This property is super close to Point Reyes & made getting out for our hike a breeze. We will definitely be back!

Enjoyed our stay
We enjoyed our stay in Point Reyes. Amazing location, very quiet and peaceful. It isn’t so far out of Point Reyes Station, but it feels very remote.
The house is very eclectic in style, a feast for the eyes! The deck out the back was beautiful in the afternoon.
Sherb was very responsive to messages.

Perfect place to unwind
What a beautiful house. So much to explore! My kids very much enjoyed all the rooms, levels, and outside. I loved morning coffee and afternoon wine on the deck. So glad to get to talk with the home owner, and appreciated his beautiful home.
We’ll definitely be back!

Birthday Getaway for my wife
A rare experience in a house that was full of interesting art and imagination. A rare find in vacation rentals, Location is fantastic. We will be trying for another stay there sometime in the future.

Very off the beaten path
Very helpful owners and house was a nice stay. Only complaint being very few restaurants locally. Driveway a bit dodgy especially when wet but typical for the area. Overall enjoyed the house with my engineering crew.

Odd space, finicky owner
Big old house, but not a great space for families to hang out. There are a lot of rules regarding noise, coming and going, parking etc. Price is per person after the first 4, so though it sleeps a large number, it is very expensive for a big group.

Very interesting, large home.
The Sherburn house is quite unusual. I stayed there for four nights with my wife, three sons, two daughters-in-law, and one additional relative who came for two nights. The house is rambling and filled with interesting antique furniture, salvaged Victorian light fixtures, a huge book collection (ranging from treatises on particle physics and mathematics, to human evolution and behavior, many other technical and art volumes, to diverse fiction by the best authors), and original artwork by the owner, Sherb (artistic glass) and others. It consists of three stories, with the entrance foyer, three bedrooms, laundry room and kitchen on the 1st floor, kitchen, dining, pool table, and TV on the 2nd, and a large master suite on the 3rd floor. There are a number of excellent wall murals, especially in the master suite. The hot water was good & we had plenty of towels and pillows. We enjoyed 3 great meals at the dining table as a group, also including my nephew and his wife and daughter and a close friend whose second home is nearby. All of us enjoyed the pool table, with many games over the 4 evenings, and some lively board games at the kitchen table. The aging charcoal barbecue worked pretty well for two meals. The kitchen is well stocked with tableware, pots, pans, grinders, a mixer, a range, and the "cadillac" of citrus squeezers that we exercised heavily. We always appreciate the environment around Pt. Reyes Station and enjoyed this location in the midst of woods, frequented by ruby-throated humming birds and visited one evening by a grey fox that crossed the lawn in back. It is very quiet there in the night. The owner responded graciously to our principal concern, which was that we were very cold on the first morning. The house is hard to heat in chilly weather using only space heaters spread around the rooms. Some of us were wary of the space heaters and would not sleep with them running. The rooms were very cold in the mornings. Sherb brought us new, less intimidating space heaters that improved heating in a lot of the house after the first morning. We had sunny weather, and the deck was warm when the sun was high enough. The house has many windows facing south, so the sun warms it a bit by mid-day. Without sun, it would have been too cold. All in all the sojourn at the Sherburn house was a success. The great meals, excellent Pt. Reyes Station coffee shops, comfortable beds, hiking, and each other's company gave us a good and memorable reunion.

Spacious and cozy with a lot of characters
This place is fantastic for families, spacious and cozy. It has a piano! One of the bedroom on the first floor has a dent that kids fall in love instantly! The yard is lovely too. Close to kayak, to restaurants and markets. The host is super nice, they live next door and they even baked a cake for us! We had a fantastic time with friends. Highly recommend it.

Very mixed. Lovely 4 bedroom place. But friends who had to stay in 5th room had horrible nights.
The place is unique, large rooms, big kitchen, comfy, but the 5th room is no bedroom and should not be advertised that way. It was highly uncomfortable for my guests. A horribly uncomfortable fold out couch, to which we had to place an over mattress which turned out to be miserably uncomfortable ,very embarrassing for me as the hostess. No working hot tub, great piano and pool table. Coffee maker moldy, was. Slightly musty smell but would be good place for 4 couples but not 5

We were in the area for a wedding and shared the house with kids and grandkids. Unique home which had everything we needed including the piano.
Sherb - thanks for the hospitality!

Stay Away
This was a grim place to stay. It was dusty and had spider webs in corners and was not comfortable or inviting. It is oddly laid out and not conducive to a family gathering. It is either poorly maintained or was never really finished. I'm guessing both.
Not a pleasant place to be in, dark inside, an unkept and unusable yard space outside. There was a deplorably filthy and depressing chicken coop in the yard. Our host explained that sometimes "it just gets away from us".
Our host was surprisingly unhelpful...we arrived on a chilly day and the house was cold. The owner said because of the complicated nature of the radiant heat it was "not possible" to make the house any warmer. He pointed out a stash of small electric plug in space heaters to use in each room. Lights don't work? Our host explained where the light switches were. It was up to us to find the fuse box and flip the breakers.
This place has an overall run-down feel to it, broken tiles, missing baseboards, loose wobbly door knobs, kind of thing. Not well cleaned after the last guests, however long ago that may have been.
Although the house has 5 bedrooms and can accommodate many guests, there is no dishwasher, no garbage disposal and no attempt to separate trash from recycling.
Up a moderately steep but mercifully short, rutted, gravel driveway with no place to turn around. If there is more than one car in your group, someone will get blocked in. You'll have to back down the driveway, stop and open the gate, drive thru, and get out and close the gate.
No one in our group would ever want stay here again.
However, if you like looking at cobwebs on the ceilings and enjoy the dusty stuffed heads of (formerly) beautiful animals on the walls, this might be the place for you.

The House Has Tremendous Character
The house is really something else - custom murals on the wall, hand-crafted staircases and molding, original glass and sculpture work throughout. Even a few stuffed game trophies.
Sherb himself is nice and easy to talk with. There was a little bit of mis-communication with our arrival, but he was great about making it work.

Great unique quiet setting
The 7 of us really enjoyed the spacious house with its unusual collection of artwork and objects. It is in a quiet wooded setting. The owner went above and beyond in making sure we were comfortable, without being obtrusive in the least. Apart from some plumbing issues the house was a perfect place for us to stay near Inverness, Point Reyes, and all the natural beauty of this area.

Unique, luxurious, and fun!
This was a great place for us to gather, and a great jumping off point for exporing pt. reyes and marin county! Sherb and Maricel were really hospitable and helped with things to do and gave us a tour of the house. They even baked us 2 cassava pies! The house was really comfortable, and had good, large open spaces. We had an excellent time here and will definitely return for gatherings in the future.
