Host Paul is a true gentleman - very responsive yet not meddling at all. The property is only 7 mins away from folly beach and 20 mins from downtown. It's a cozy little home in a quite neighborhood and beside a lake where you can relax with a glass of wine and listen to the birds. HT is within walking distance and is open till 11PM (just in case you run out of wine). It has plenty of off-street parking, perfect for a small family. The home is adorned with lots of nice paintings and southern comfort. The welcome basket was the cherry on top. Don't think, just book. Worth every penny!!
PS: Even the neighbors were very friendly and you can actually gaze at stars, which is very rare for us city dwellers.
Washer dryer would have been convenient, but certainly not a deal breaker by any means. Nothing to not like really.
2.5
Not touristy… liked the kitchen and the size of the bathroom… also very clean, and did not have to pay a cleaning fee
The house next door is a horrendous eye sore and would be better if there were a large privacy fence… driveway tricky to back out of… not enough privacy as it is a duplex, and can hear neighbors at low speaking volume… did not know this was a duplex. Also the water out back is not connected to main waterway, where fishing is more suitable.

This house was perfect for me and my sisters to get away and recharge. We enjoyed so much we plan to return. Perfect location to either beach or short ride to town.
I really don't think there was anything we didn't like. Neighbors were friendly.

We really enjoyed the back deck and the scenery. The view of the nature and all the surroundings was very peaceful. You could even fish right from the back deck. The house was equipped with all the necessities and the host was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed.
I would have like a little cooler temperature at night. The house had a smart thermostat that the host controlled the temperature.

Fantastic location for downtown Charlotte and Folly Beach.

We booked at the very last minute but Paul was on top of it! We had a lovely welcome and the place was clean and decorated nicely. The kitchen was perfect for the amount of time we were there, and the bathroom was huge so two could get ready at the same time.
Easy to hear the folks next door talking, but we only overlapped one night, so no big deal.

The Gray Heron House is ideally located. It's five minutes from Folly Beach and 10-15 minutes from Charleston. In addition, there is a Harris Teeter supermarket nearby to stock up on food, supplies, etc.
We really didn't have any complaints. The apartment was clean, comfortable and perfect for our weekend getaway. The deck and the dock overlooking the water were both nice features!

We liked the large size of the unit. Beds were very comfortable. All amenities were as expected. Owner is very easy to work and communicate with.

This was a very nice quit area. Easy to locate, and get in and out of.

This was such a nice place to stay, it was so close to Folly Beach and Charleston. We loved how clean and bright it was. There was a nice welcome basket with drinks and snacks and you got a very welcoming vibe walking through the door.
The furniture wasn't super comfortable but it did the trick. We didn't spend too much time there for it to bother us.

I loved the location and backyard access to the canal. The patio and swing were very nice. I also liked the fact the bedrooms separate and the wifi was fast. The unit is very nicely decorated, and overall we did very much enjoy our stay there.
The rental posting and ad did not specify that were two separate rental units and which one we were renting. I was hoping for the unit with a real kitchen, and the kitchenette in our unit only had a very small sink, microwave, and refrigerator. The bedding was a little worn and could be updated. Overall though we enjoyed our stay, definitely good for the money, but it should be clarified in the ad that there are two separate and not necessarily equal rental units.

Very well maintained and quiet community. Located perfectly for our visit to Folly Beach and an excellent value. Property owner contacted us with the info we needed prior to our arrival and made himself available if needed. We had no issues.
No issues.

Host left a welcome basket with snacks and a bottle of wine which was quite "welcome" at the end of a day on the beach. Rooms were sunny and bright. Huge updated bathroom. Harris Teeter grocery and gas was very close and convenient to house.
Everything was fine and exactly as pictured in listing.

We paid for one tour in Charleston--Scott with ToursbyFoot--outstanding. We "self" toured the Slave Mart. We did a drive through of a local state park; visited the Charleston Distillery and also made a side trip to Folly Beach. The Gray Heron House was a great place to stay and get in/out of these places! Barbeque place (Melvin's or Martin's?) was "over the top" and we highly recommend it! Paul's place--Gray Heron--was really nice. Lots of privacy for visitors-separate bedrooms, etc. Loved the view from the deck and all of the wildlife. Delicious sweet tea everywhere!
Honestly, our trip was perfect. We had planned well in advance and chose activities, sites, etc. The weather was not as warm as we had hoped; however, no control over that! We were somewhat disappointed in the Charleston Visitor's Center--it was really just a place to pick up brochures--no movie or historical relics, etc.

I loved the location on the water! I would just sit outside and eat breakfast, or mediate, or read. Enough seating for the family and two locus rooms, as well. Super cozy at night, too
I liked everything. Exterior of home and front yard are plain, but the inside and deck and dock more than make up for it.

The location was perfectly placed to walking/riding distance to Folly distance if you're the sort who likes to walk and less than 15 minutes to downtown Charleston. I didn't tread properly and didn't realize I chose the unit without a stove, but there's a Fridge and Microwave. It was more spacious than I expected. The host Paul was most gracious and accessible. We loved the dock access to the pond. There were more than enough towels/toiletries should you need them. Shopping and restaurants are also super close. Just know that the closest grocery closes at 9pm since the pandemic. Beds were comfy and so clean we smelled the detergent. It's not all 2022 items but they're in great nick and so clean, with a respectful host. That matters to me most.
No stove and had to go out side to access dock. Both were my fault for not reading description. Dock was still accessible.

This little house exceeded our expectations in every way! It was beautiful, with cheerful coastal colors, VERY comfy beds, TWO Living rooms, a fully equipped kitchen, gas log fireplace, and lovely views of the bayou.
The weather…it got a little chilly & rainy towards the end of our visit.

The property does lie on a waterway, as pictured. It is fairly easy to get to and lies between Folly Beach and Charleston proper. The house is in a neighborhood but no one infringed with our stay so it was not an issue.
The host seemed kind, very communicative and easily reachable. There was literature available to assist with tourist options.
The bathroom was wonderful! Very spacious, two sinks and toiletries available for our use. The TV was good with many user options. The decor was quite lovely.
From the pictures shown we believed that we would have kitchen facilities and brought food to cook. However, we only had a part of the house and our part was a small sink, small refrigerator and microwave - which was very disappointing.
The beds were adequate but often mattresses are a personal preference.

The property was exceptionally suited to our needs for quick access to Charleston and nearby locations. Easy access to downtown and great parking access as well as easy location to find. The facility was comfy and well supplied and clean. Nice deck out by the lake. Beautiful view.
My only recommendation would be to install a bar sink or a larger type sink in kitchenette. The sink was a bit small and I was afraid of bumping the coffee carafe and breaking it. From strictly a retired carpenter point of view, the entry storm door would be better with hinges on the right so you don't have to walk around it to open the door into the unit. Merely a point of observation and not a hill worth dying on.

the property is beautiful. I love the tucked away feel on the water. we got beautiful sunrises. the house is cute and big enough for 4 adults and 2 kids. it’s just enough space. comfortable beds. clean. private. killer location.
I can’t say there’s much I didn’t like. the only negative was having just one bathroom on a weekend trip with the in laws and 2 small kids. but it’s not like I didn’t know that was going to take an adjustment when I booked the place.

It’s a great location close to where our daughter lives & close to the beach. It’s clean and accommodating.

We could have walked to Folly beach and got to down town Charleston in about 20 minutes. We loved the outdoor seating and the dock with plenty of seating right on the water. And we enjoyed the greeter,a very talkative flightless goose, next door .

It was nice to have all the space. Everything was provided which made it so easy. Paul was very accommodating and always available to answer questions.
Tv show selection. Hooks to hang wet bathroom towels would be a great addition.

The neighborhood was great. Truly a home away from home and everything you could need. Beach chairs and umbrella and all. House was on the water, very peaceful and minutes to the beach.
There aren’t visible street numbers in the neighborhood, so GPS took me next door, thankfully that was NOT where we were staying.

Location was great. Deck relaxing. Very clean inside. Welcome basket a nice touch.
A/C unit was noisy. Beds were a bit too soft. Cable and remote hard to use. Didn't know how to use Apps - use owners or have to download and use my own password.
