Not enough parking, outdoor has potential but much of the outside area was not mowed. Sewage was overflowing and smelled bad outdoors. Home was very nice and roomy. Hooks for towels in bathrooms would be nice. Trash can liners would have been helpful.

everything is above expectation except the hot water is not stable, sometime it become cold water when taking shower, otherwise we do enjoy it.

The property is beautiful but at the moment does not live up to its potential. The home is a great location, the furniture exquisite yet every review citing the missing necessities are true. We found 1 dish towel..1 The vanity bathroom paper curtain was falling down until we fixed it with a thumbtack...this property deserves better. You can tell there is upgrading going on, the bathrooms are very nice although the shower head in the main floor bedroom is way too high and you basically get dribbled on.
The property advertises a Keurig, there was none..thank goodness we live close. It was too cold for us to use the canoes however we never did see life preservers in the house..if you plan on that it might be something to inquire about. You WILL have smoke in the house if you run a fire...we had a helluva hot fire and the house still filled up...it was windy that day, it may have something to do with that, I'm not sure but..be advised. The stove is virtually unmarked..its hit or miss on what power setting you've chosen...the two ovens are very nice as is the spectacular dining room table. We found the beds comfortable, the bunk beds are extra large so very comfortable for adults however, the bed linens are thin..if you like some "heft" on you at night to sleep bring your own comforters or bedspreads. Im running out of space, you get the drift. bring flashlights..its treacherous walking to the fire pit at night. (never did find the lights supposedly there)

Wonderful week even with some rain. Plenty of room inside and out.

I stayed for a week with my teenage and adult children. Family came as well. The house is big. Downstairs there are 3 bedrooms (Queen room, & 2 with queen bunk beds), main floor is the primary (king and bathroom), upstairs is a queen bedroom with a private bath room and a loft.
Lots of space. 2 “family room” areas. The teens hung downstairs with couches, pool table and TV. The adults were upstairs.
Hill is steep. Not a house for those with mobility problems. But we were fine.
The house was great. If I was going to find something to complain about, it would be that I could not figure out the temperatures on the Viking range. However, no food burned. :-)

We really enjoyed our stay. My husband and three grown children vacation together. Family time is precious but having privacy is also important. This home provides both. We had lots of fun in the dock and the deck! John was very attentive and was also very patient with my questions. Dont forget to venture to some of the wineries, Hawley, and promised land State Park.

Great place. Very clean inside and well kept. Didn't use boats because there were no pa tags on them, didn't want a fine. Pics on site make it seem the neighbors are not close. Glad we were there durring mid week and no one else was. Had a hiccup with the hot water that was taken care of with a response from owner. Overall.......great stay and great place. Definitely recommend.

This house was amazing! Everything was taken care of: towels , cups , cooking pots and pans . The view was incredible and it held 12 people comfortably . We had so much fun!!!

Stayed here for a friends weekend. The house is beautiful, and the view of the lake from the deck is spectacular.

We had a fantastic time at this beautiful home on Lake Wallenpaupack!!
The house is simply amazing!! Plenty of space with an amazing kitchen and gigantic livingroom that we could all hang out in. Views are spectacular!! The owner was very accommodating and was excellent in communicating with me. We will definitely be back!! Thank you for sharing your home with us!!

Beautiful location on the lake. The house was ample and spacious for our large family. One small concern was addressed immediately. The host was very easy to contact and quick to respond.
Make sure you review the listing prior to booking for provisions that you will need to supply and for parking details.
We had a Bald Eagle in the tree out back, and deer in the side yard.
Enjoyable stay!

I stayed at this property with a group of friends for New Year’s Eve weekend. The house is very nice; high ceilings, large rooms, upgraded kitchen, etc. That said, there were a few downsides which is why I would not give this property 5 stars. Multiple basic amenities that I would expect to find at a rental house (especially at the elevated nightly rate we paid for New Year’s Eve) were not supplied such as hand soap in bathrooms and an adequate amount of towels. The fireplaces also did not vent well enough even with the flue fully opened leading to the house being extremely smoky when the fireplaces were lit. The master bathroom also has a mildew-y smell that was very unpleasant. Overall, it was a great house and our stay was enjoyable, but attention to detail was lacking, leading to 4 stars.

Property is beautiful. So many amazing details. The view of the lake is incredible.

This property was exactly how it was advertised in the listing. The house was clean and organized upon arrival. As stated in the description- be sure to bring paper products as there is a limited amount to get your started. The driveway is very very steep and narrow. The walkway down to the lake is also somewhat steep. One of the kids fell walking down and got quite a few scrapes. We had some trouble with the fireplace. The smoke filled the house and not sure why as we had the flues open. The bedding blankets were thin so if you like thick heavy blankets I would bring some of your own. The house was nice and warm so the blankets were just fine for our stay. They also have baby gates for the stairways which was perfect for our family.

The home and location were perfect our family getaway. Great views of Lake Wallenpaupack. We came in the fall and think it maybe even better for a summer getaway.

Reading other peoples' reviews, I'm guessing that they expect a five star hotel experience? These properties are used by other families all year long, so you are never going to find perfection. Yet this property comes crazy close! The details in the design blew me away. From the tile in the power room (LOVED it!) to the rustic canoe hung by the ceiling in the game room to the flannel carpet in the basement, no expense was spared in designing this beautiful home. The owner also threw in extras to make this home safe for toddlers, including toddler safe doorknobs in the loft suite, and baby gates. Rooms that are typically throw away spaces (like a loft) were instead made into a beautiful suite. The fun factor is totally there, between the boats, the dock, and the floating dock. Neighbors are friendly, kitchen is totally stocked with quality dishware, and the lake view is just lovely. The couch was so comfy that some of us opted to sleep in the great room. It was easy to reach the owner via cell phone, and he was friendly and helpful. Thanks for the effort you put into this place, John! We appreciated all of it!

Awesome!
Quick, easy, and painless! This place was exactly as stated - Beautiful house and property right on the lake. Saw a lot of wildlife, and had deer roaming around us day and night Used many of the amenities, and we all enjoyed ourselves immensely! Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

House on the HILL
Clean nice spacious house but on a killer hill. Great property for younger families with good privacy having bedrooms on all 3 floors, however, the mattresses are terrible. Poor outside maintenance since we paid for our dog and the yard was way over grown, so no yard to play games or to let the dog run. No gas for the grill, we had to run and get some to cook our dinner. No comfort in any of the seating. I was expecting a little more for my money. A few upgrades and this property could have been excellent instead of mediocre.

Not what we expected
Though the property is large it is poorly maintained and was poorly cleaned and prepared for our arrival. There were broken heating elements, wall plugs with no covers, led ceiling lights that didn’t work and some even hanging out of the ceiling. No batteries in the remotes for TVs, no extra linens for the pull out despite paying a linen fee. Tv in master never worked and the king size bed was TERRIBLE! Showers didn’t work properly and appeared to have not been cleaned in awhile….also no toilet paper…..having someone to come clean the property and check the small things would have gone a long way especially for the price we paid!!!! If you want to charge high end then you have to deliver high end. Oh and parking was a nightmare…..nothing had been shoveled before we arrived…made for a very unsafe entrance. Truly hoping we are offered some kind of refund as this was just terrible. Renters beware
1.5
Unsafe property.
This is the only rental property in a private road that isn't maintained. Winter/ice conditions prevented travel/parking resulting in 2 insurance claims on rental cars, a wrecker tow truck, and emergency services called. Parking would have been an issue under ideal conditions, but the weekend we were there it was a safety hazard. Unfortunately, the wrecker, neighbors, and firefighters stated this is a known issue that happens every winter on this road. Which begs the question, why would Vrbo allow this property to rented off-season without properly maintaining access to/from it?

Great Winter House!
The house was amazing! Exactly how it’s listing states. Everything was in the house already as far as amenities. Beautiful mountain house feeling. We slept 12 adults comfortably! Plenty of firewood was supplied. Gates installed on the steps was a nice addition if you have small toddlers. Would highly recommend for a winter getaway. We will definitely be returning in the winter and want to check it out in the summer as well. 5 stars across the board!

Family Christmas
Everything was as described. The house is massive. The only issues that I noticed was there were mostly stall showers in the location with only one tub which was not accessible for the person in the family with a handicap. The sheets in the main floor master weren’t clean or if they were, not cleaned well.. There was a good amount of firewood outside however it was not covered and the logs were wet making them unusable. The walk down from parking is treacherous. It is loose gravel and sloped. We did not leave too often but unpacking and packing the cars was a challenge. Overall though everyone in the family said it was a good time and we had a great Christmas.

Lots to Like - and a couple suggestions
First of all, the property is gorgeous and as advertised. The area was nice, the house was very clean and nicely organized, Wifi was excellent and the lake view was awesome. You're about 15 minutes from town in either direction, which is perfect, and there are several restaurant choices that were good. In the house, there's a nice open feel and there are multiple cozy locations with fireplaces, etc. The kids also loved the bedrooms, particularly the bunk rooms. A couple suggestions or cautions that could really improve the experience in the future:
Communication with the Owner: No outreach after booking, it was an automatic acceptance, and I had to ping him to get access to keys for the house. First and only time we spoke. I gave it a pass, but when we arrived there was a very large scale power outage and the house and surrounding area was obviously pitch black. When I called him I was declined and when I texted if he had flashlights or candles anywhere I never heard back. There also aren't very clear instructions on how to operate TVs, fireplaces, etc. and all the DVD remotes in the house were missing. No checkout procedures shared, etc. These are easy fixes with a one pager and some care applied to in between booking protocols.
Access to property and lake: Although the instructions say 4 can park in driveway, you won't get more than two cars in unless the 3rd car parks parallel and blocks in the first two....or you park in a very steep driveway that descends to the lake (in which case I'd suggest blocks under tires). There is no street parking. Accessing the lake is a bit treacherous as you're going down a steep rugged lawn (no stairs or walkway) and we had a couple slip and falls due to wet conditions, leaves, etc. No harm done, we had 3 cars and soft landings, but maybe a long term opportunity for improvement.
Stocking the house: One wine glass, a pool table with one stick and no chalk, no condiments of any kind or any starter supplies (like toilet paper), limited baking plans and plates, etc. This shouldn't disqualify the house, but it is something you want to be prepared for and bring with you, particularly if you're filling house to capacity.
All of this said, the availability of the boat, canoe, kayak, paddleboard, along with the entire house having a really good layout and a nice hunting lodge feel really made it worth it. We'd go again.

Wow!
I called John within 5 minutes of checking in just to say WOW!!! Super home. Gorgeous, clean and spacious. We used the boat and kayak on the lake and made pizzas in the double oven. In the morning we enjoyed coffee on the outdoor deck and had an incredible view of the lake. Everyone had a great time. Thanks John!

Beautiful home with stunning views!
The house and property are absolutely gorgeous. We went with a large group for a bridal shower, and had a wonderful time. The driving/parking situation is a little tricky (very steep and narrow roads), so bring something with 4WD and car pool if you can.

The property was wonderful! The house was huge, comfortable and clean. The kitchen worked out well for cooking for a large family and the new grill was a bonus! The bedrooms were big and slept everyone comfortably. The weather was on the colder side so we used both fireplaces a lot and they were wonderful! We had a great couple days at the house and John was very responsive! We highly recommend this house! -Trish

Amazing!!
Words cannot describe how amazing this property is! I am overly picky with cleanliness so I am usually reluctant to do rentals - this place was spotless and felt super clean!! Really exceeded my expectations. The view was amazing, indoor fireplaces, outdoor fire pit, kayak and paddle boat, updated amenities - the list of positives goes on and on. John was great with answering any questions that I had. We cannot wait to return!!!

Overall beautiful home and great stay. Cons are all minor but an easy fix that would make a big difference Pros: 1) very clean 2) comfy large furniture good for a crowd 3) beautiful house and beautiful view 4) most major things worked well (appliances, water pressure)Cons: 1) no information provided (grocery store, where to get propane, how to use the heat) 2) needs a chimney sweep. Fireplace was very smoky 3) street is treacherous in the winter (sheet of ice and steep downgrade) 4) no coffee mugs or wine glasses just mason jars 5) keurig was broken (no big deal but don’t advertise one) 6) no wine bottle opener (just tell us to bring it) and can opener broken.

Our group was two couples on a quick weekend trip to the Poconos, so this was much more house then we needed but we liked the location, the photos, and that it had two primary bedrooms. Our initial impressions were very positive. John, the owner, is friendly and accessible, and the exterior of the property was ready for us - road/driveway mostly clear of snow, walkways shoveled, etc. Inside the home, our impressions were mixed. The house is large, open, and comfortably furnished. The living area is great, as are the views. Unfortunately, the house had a diesel odor, probably from a recent heating oil refill and the entire house just didn’t feel especially clean. The bathrooms were so-so, the kitchen drawers were a mess - one had every kitchen tool, including knives, just haphazardly dumped in, and another was filled with hardware like nails and screws. (Also, no wine opener - bring your own). The main floor primary bedroom had a significant roof leak that filled a bucket during our stay. John told us about the leak ahead of time and said the room was still usable, though he didn’t say that the leak was in a primary bedroom. Water dripped constantly and the careless rearrangement of the heavy furniture made it so we couldn’t close the bathroom door. The room wasn’t useable, which was unfortunate since we had two couples. As for provisioning, come prepared. The listing showed the normal VRBO provisions provided by owner. We didn’t find anything except for a half roll of toilet paper or two, and John said this change was due to Covid. No problem - it didn’t take much to get what we need - but it was frustrating to have to go to the store immediately upon arrival to buy soap, toilet paper, etc. when we could have just brought those things. This was an annoying inconvenience - please come prepared. Also, the towel situation was not great. The towels weren’t easy to find, and were not set up in each bathroom. Also, many of the towels were being used on the floor of the bedroom to contain the leak. Finally, on our final day the refrigerator broke and spoiled our food (the ice maker never worked, so bring a bag of ice, too). John said it’s possible we put it into demonstration mode (?), which would have turned off the compressors, but said he was going to replace it anyway. In summary, it’s a big house in a pretty location that may be best suited for a family or group that is okay with a large, tired home.

Relaxation
Overall, very spacious. Lit the fire for a little additonal warmth for the basement, the kitchen needs a little update with regards to cookware, utensils, but it is minor. John answered my calls everytime I had a question, even at late arrival at almost 10pm. Definitely would be back during the summer months.

Great house!
The house was exactly what we wanted for a winter getaway. It was a great size, perfect for 2 families. Amazing fireplaces, beautiful views of the lake, clean and cool lodge decor! As owner mentions, definitely need a truck in case of inclimate weather. The house is down a hill which could be tricky in ice and snow. Owner was very helpful in ensuring we were able to get out during a storm. Would recommend!
