Excellent property. Very clean. Great location. Comfortable. Owner good with answering questions. I highly recommend it.
3.0 / 5.0
House is in a nice area and convenient to stores and restaurants, but the property itself needs some TLC. There is a big yard and patio, but the waterfront view is mostly obstructed by trees. House interior and fixtures are basic; we were expecting better quality for the money. Owner never made good on promise of a lobster dinner that we planned on for dinner our last night there. Disappointed.

This is the second time we have stayed at this house in Glen Cove. The house suits our family well, including our dogs. We found the house spotless when we entered it. The living space works well for the six of us including our young grandsons. And waking up to the view of Penobscot Bay each morning is worth every minute of our ride from New Jersey.
The location is also what attracted us back to this house. We love being down the road from the Breakwaters Lighthouse. We also love visiting Camden and finding new towns and lighthouses to visit along Maine's beautiful coast. We look for local hiking trails and beaches and find them all. This year, we opted not to head up to Acadia, but Acadia is accessible to this house.
We have been very successful when reaching out to Chris who manages this property. He has always been very responsive to our questions and needs.
We are hoping to stay here again in the future.

There are some basic things holding this rental back. As mentioned in previous reviews there is inaccurate information provided upon checkin. The wifi information was not correct in our email but able to email the owner and obtain the correct info. There were only 4 kitchen seats, thin duvets with no extra blankets and no trash can for the main bathroom. The kitchen was well stocked but no dishwasher detergent so you should plan to bring some. The rental was surfaced cleaned but could’ve been better. The location is amazing being close to the breakwater lighthouse with a large yard and view. Some positives and negatives which equate to an overall fine or meh rating.

The location of the house is beautiful, the neighborhood quiet and close to amenities in the town. The house is comfortable but could use a couple of things we missed: a broom and dustpan, extra pillows in the living room (furniture is very deep for short people!) and some games besides puzzles. Our stay was lovely, with good weather. The Farnsworth is a must-see, and a schooner sail in Camden was great. We enjoyed the restaurants. Found the electric range not easy to use with little heat modulation.
Location and home just fine.

This was indeed was the best ever VRBO at which we had the most relaxing and enjoyable vacation. The views of Rockland Harbor from this property were beyond words. Tranquility and peacefulness are two words that describe our stay at this VRBO. The host manager could not have been more responsive to any question or concern that we had. The response back was quick and thorough. The house was very spacious and nicely laid out. Morning walks to Rockland Breakwater Light House was just a 5 minute walk and a perfect way to start out our every day. Do yourself a favor and book a stay.....you won't be sorry. A perfect VRBO for a perfect get-away for us! Many thanks.

The property was as described, and the previous reviews were all accurate and telltale. There was confusion with the information in the 'key' email not being accurate with regard to the address and the wifi access, this required an email to the owner and he responded quickly. I saw others mentioned this in their reviews as well. Wrong info is inefficient communication. There seems to be a short supply of glassware, plates, towels, only one trash bin for one bathroom, none for the other. The furnishings lacked for the three of us in our party. I cannot image more than four persons staying here and having adequate furnishings. There was a huge rip in the front screen door vi I requested it be repaired as we were staying two weeks and we had a small dog along, who jumped through and out while we waited for this repair. It was repaired the second week of our stay. The house is spacious, as as are the yards. At times the back yard was shared with neighbors riding on a John Deer for their amusement. It's a basic and good place.

Our experience started upon arrival. We arrived in the evening and were not able to find the proper house we rented. We were noticeably provided with the incorrect address, since the house did not look like the house in the images. Had to contact owner, and thank goodness received a response, since he acknowledged that he gave his personal address by accident (yet reading back to older reviews, others have had this same experience) then we were able to find our rental by description on the street, since there is no street address indicated anywhere on the property (which is concerning too). The image online is much more tidy and kept up then in reality. There are large overgrown bushes in the entry and a different screen door with ripped screen. We entered the house and unloaded to find a house that was not clean to any standard. The kitchen had dust covering counters and appliances, the refrigerator and freezer had crumbs, and there was long light dog hair on floors, under furniture, and on furniture. Dust on lamps and items at bedside was very visible too. The bathroom had marks of not sure what "dirt" on the walls. Had to go to the store in the morning and buy cleaning supplies to clean enough to feel comfortable. My family started sneezing our first night, between the dog hair and the dust.
The garage is not usable- but filled with old appliances. The ceiling in the living space needs a lot of repair. As other reviews have mentioned, there are no curtains in the bathrooms and other spaces too.
Reached out to owner about the cleaning condition multiple times and no response. Our 2nd to last day received an email that the owner had a family emergency so hadn't responded. I am very empathetic, but If renting multiple properties, must designate someone to oversee if unable or periodically check in for correpsondance and at least electronically respond.
Views across the back lawn are beautiful, but no direct water view straight back and no water access for use.
For the price, we were quite dissappointed.

Incredible Stay and Hosts
We truly loved our time at this home. Like any home there are sometimes things that break or go wrong and this host was so quick to respond each time. The view and the large backyard were perfect for our family and dog. The walk to the lighthouse early each morning were a highlight. We will be back! (Oh, bring a wine opener though!). LOLOLOLOL. Great place and people.

A++++++
Chris was helpful and was able to accommodate our booking last minute. The house was perfect for our last-minute trip and couldn’t have asked of a better Host. Chris did a great job coordinating check in considering we booked last minute and arrived much later than expected check in. House has been maintained well and was clean on arrival.
House is perfectly located and a short drive to all the good food spots and local points of interest. We walked the Rockland Breakwater at the end of the street and couldn’t believe how breathtaking the views were closer to sunset! HIGHLY recommend the lighthouse walk – 10/10.
We will definitely be coming back next year and hope to take advantage of the front door lobster delivery service!!!

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
The Rockland Harborwatch is all about location! The house is equipped with nice furniture and décor including stunning view of the Rockland Harbor. Perfectly located between Camden & Rockland offering short drives to enjoy what both oceanfront towns have to offer! We enjoyed a day golfing and exploring what all the Samoset Resort had to offer since it is walking distance from the property.
Overall great property – very clean, well-organized, and maintained. A++
Chris was great and helped with any questions we had and offered direction with his recommendations for food, local attractions, etc.
We couldn’t have asked for a better MidCoast getaway and look forward to coming back next year!!!

Wonderful location, nice home, but could use some attention
This home is in a great location: walking distance to the Rockland Breakwater and Lighthouse, close to grocery and other essential stores, and a short drive to downtown Rockland and all it has to offer: great restaurants, shops, and waterfront. Glen Cove is a nice home on a spacious lot. We so appreciated the lovely view and the expansive yard was wonderful for us and our dogs.
The home itself could use a deep cleaning (particularly inside drawers and cabinets, which apparently haven't been cleaned in a long while). We also wondered if perhaps the cleaning person hadn't finished when we arrived, as the vacuum was still in the living room, there were wet cleaning rags by the kitchen sink, and some linens and bath rugs were still in the dryer. The home could use additional blankets (each bed had just sheets and a light coverlet) and bath towels (there were five for our party of four for a one-week stay). There were plenty of hand towels and washcloths. Some cleaning products and dishwasher detergent were provided, but there was no kitchen sponge or dish brush. We had to buy our own. The home REALLY needs some shades or privacy curtains, especially in the bathrooms. The previous guest must have felt the same way as there was a bath towel hanging over the valence rod in the hall bathroom. It was disconcerting to use the bathrooms, especially at night, without assurance of privacy.
It is always our policy to leave a place better than we found it, and this was no exception. We vacuumed, wiped counters, removed all trash and recycling, and washed all towels (the latter two tasks were requested by the host).
We offer these comments in a sincere desire to be helpful, to the homeowner and to others.

Great space for our family
We found the place clean. The living space was perfect for our family which included 6 adults and a baby. Location was also a plus. The view was beautiful and we were close to town. In addition, we were only miles from Camden. We also ventured to Acadia which was less tha n 2 hours away. Loved the house.

Overall very good, but with some bumps at the start
Whoever is listing this property needs to change the address. It was incorrect in the confirmation email that included the door code. We went to the wrong house and also the one next door before we finally realized it was two doors down. Unmarked mailbox and front door. (Suggestion #1 for owner: correct address in everything on VRBO and then put the number on your mailbox). The only other issue was the shower in the master bath. Neither my wife or I could figure it out. Email response from owner was generic and didn't help. Finally, someone visiting us showed us how it works. You pull down on the outer rim of the bath faucet. Never seen it before.
Once we got past those two issues, the house was very good for my family of four. Great backyard and view of water. (Suggestion #2 for owner: Cut down the enormous shrub in front of patio to enable view of water and also cut a few trees by the water. The view could easily be the home's best feature, but not the way it's landscaped now.)
Great location in terms of town, activities, etc. Don't miss the mile-long granite pier at the end of the road.
I'd say overall a solid 3.5 stars out of five, and we'd even return if the above suggestions were taken.

Needs some TLC
The front doorstep of the house which was the only way into the property for us is completely destroyed - my elderly father almost lost his footing multiple times. The cleaning of the house was very mediocre, especially considering we are still at the tail end of the pandemic. The dishwasher makes the dishes worse than they were when you put them in. The beds were comfortable and the location is fabulous. Had a hard time getting a hold of the landlord as the link on our VRBO info supposedly went to his father which meant a 48 hour delay on getting a response for a problem with the WiFi. I appreciated being able to bring my dog and couldn’t see evidence of previous renters pets.

Glen Cove Rockland Maine
The home wasn’t cleaned for quite some time.
Dirty under beds, a lot of human genitalia hair in both bathrooms also master shower didn’t work.
Can’t access ocean from property and view is from neighbors property. It doesn’t have A/C also had dirty dishes and coffee left from others before. Property address isn’t correct for gps a lot more to list. Over all my family still had a great experience in Rockland. We will go back but not to this property. Was disappointed,
Owner wouldn’t respond to any emails.

Labor Day surpise
Given the Covid season, we didn't realize this was Labor Day when we booked. However, weather was perfect, day trip to Vynalhaven during great weather and day trips for golf and sighteeing were perfect. House was clean and close to everything on the Rockalnd/Rockport coast. Sorry we forgot boxed foods in drawer next to stove. Great house for family and friends.

Perfect Family Vacation
We have rented houses in the Rockland/Camden area for years. This property is by far the best place for a family vacation. The location is perfect -beautiful view on a quiet street yet close to everything. The house is lovely, with large rooms, gleaming wood floors, excellent kitchen, and a grill on the patio. The floor plan of the house allows for plenty of space for private time and comfortable space for all of us to be together. My family of five spent a week here and it was not enough. We all said next year we want to come for two weeks and get to enjoy the house and the area even more. The owner, Chris, was responsive to all my questions and takes excellent care of the house and grounds (the landscaper worked on the lawn while we were there). I highly recommend this property.

Family Vacation
Location is great, we stayed in July and it was very hot, we purchased fans which made the evenings better. The house is fine but lacked a few basic essentials like a bottle opener. The Lobster cooking pot (when in Maine), had 2 big cracks in the side so was a pain to use as it leaked water. All of the bedrooms had items under the bed from previous occupants so I am not sure about the deep cleaning that should be happening during COVID. We went during COVID which is a difficult time, I had questions regarding linens etc for the property manager i.e. did we need to bring them, the listing did not state one way or another and I wasn't sure during COVID if it may be new procedure to have guests supply their own. I asked the property manager 3 or 4 times and he never responded. The back yard was fantastic for our young children. You CANNOT access the water directly in the backyard, this was not a problem but it isn't listed in the property description.
Overall I would recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in the Rockland area but if you have questions prior to your trip or during your stay you may be hard pressed to get a response from the property manager in a timely manner.

Great home by the ocean!
We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation in Rockland, ME. The one-level ranch home was perfect for two retired couples. 3 bedrooms, two bath and a great view of the bay! All of the furnishings were comfortable and the kitchen was fairly well equipped for any cooking that we wanted to do. The owner was accommodating.

Beautiful amazing location and wonderful views
The location is great. Close to everything and a great homebase for any day trip! We walked to the lighthouse everyday. Lots of shopping in Rockland and Camden as well as wonderful mom and pop places to eat. Day trips to Acadia National Park, Owl’s Head, pemaquid and so much more! The ferry to Vinalhaven is close and so fun. And that island is so full of interesting people and stories!
The house itself was great. 3 bedrooms with good beds and 2 bathrooms! Leather furniture in the living room and a kitchen table that seats 4. Outdoor patio furniture that’s comfy and overlooks the ocean was a wonderful way to start and end each day. No air conditioning so on the really humid nights a fan would have been good. Nice towels and bedding was provided. Great place overall!

Perfect home to experience coastal Maine.
My family and I have been coming to Maine for the past 15 years. The property on Samoset Road provided us with one of the most enjoyable vacations we’ve had to-date. The home is very comfortable and the single-story layout was a huge plus for my wife for suffers from MS and struggles with multi-story homes. The views of Rockland harbor and nearby Owl’s Head were unbelievable and the expansive backyard provided ample space for games (and the occasional deer sighting around dusk). Beyond the views, I don’t think you can beat the location when you consider you are less than 5 minutes from the grocery store and Samoset Resort, a must see for any golfer.
On a more personal note, the owner helped my family out with a very unfortunate situation on our original rental in downtown Rockland. He was able to accommodate our request on very short notice and was quick to address any needs we had to make our trip more comfortable. As a frequent visitor to Maine, I would highly recommend either of his properties on Samoset Road if you truly want to enjoy coastal Maine as it is meant to be.

Best vacation ever in Maine
My wife, our daughter and her husband and his sister used this place to put 1700 miles on our rental car in 10 days exploring Maine from Bar Harbor to Portland and all the way up to Baxter State Park. What a nice place and the home inside was great. The view in back was awesome and the food in Rockland was very good. Thanks Chris for letting us use your home.

Perfect!
First let me say that our stay at this house was one of our best trips to Maine! We have been visiting the Rockland area for several years, and we always make a point to rent from this owner. Mr. Nolan, his wife, and family are the most hospitable and kind people one could ever meet.
The accommodations were impeccable! We had everything we needed for the ultimate vacation. Everything in the house was spotless and in perfect working order. We felt at home there! The house is located on a quiet street but easily accessible and only minutes away from grocery stores, shopping, and downtown Rockland. The backyard offers a tranquil view of Rockland's working harbor, and the historical Breakwater Lighthouse is within walking distance.
As an added bonus, Mr. Nolan is very knowledgeable of the area and was kind and helpful in offering the local perspective on delicious places to eat and must see attractions. We look forward to returning to the Rockland area and THIS house for years to come!

Awesome Home close to everything
We rented the house in October last year for a week. The owners were there to get us all set up when we arrived and we really liked the location. The house is located in close proximity to the local Golf Resort. We loved eating dinner downtown at the various restaurants . We would definitely recommend the location as it is close to grocery shopping, several nice coffee shops and downtown where there are a bunch of small neat shops. It is also about 10 minutes to downtown Camden, Another great place to shop. At the end of the street the house is on is the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse. It has a wonderful walkway out to the lighthouse. From the walkway you can see lobstermen catching lobsters and see all kinds of boat traffic. Also a plus was that the owners son-in-law is a lobsterman and they were able to get us lobster at wholesale prices. I would really recommend this house for a nice trip to Midcoast Maine. The house looks to have been built in the 60's and the owners look like they have completely refinished the inside. Highly recommend!!!

Samoset Road Rockland,Maine
House is located on a well travelled road that leads to a lighthouse...a good walk. There was a pretty and restful view from the back of the home with a big yard facing the harbor. The Rental Owner's interaction on arrival was through a telephone call we made to him(doors were unlocked) and the owner's daughter. He had to be absent from the state during our stay.To list a few problems of this dog friendly home may be helpful to understand the "overall experience" rating consideration. There was no King Bed as listed. The hide-a-bed in living room may have been king. All furniture was well used. Many essential, advertised items were in disrepair: Clothes washer operated only in one cycle, dryer was inoperable, microwave lacked a turntable, only one worn blanket present in linen closet for three beds, mostly threadbare towels/linen, no towel bars in bathrooms(actually there was one still attached to a wall),one lamp in each bedroom(one was inoperable), the one floor lamp in living room had shade attached via a rope. The vacuum cleaner full and inoperable with no instructions, lower tray in dishwasher lacked wheels and sometime prior to our visit had chipped most of the dinnerware. We purchased a set for our use.Late model TVS(living room and MBR) and excellent cable service was present, although we did not use on this vacation. One evening two coyotes were viewed near the shoreline of the property which reminded us of our Southern California experiences where they walk the streets looking for food(thus, the walled homes). No directions were available for all appliances including stove, fireplace and no reference literature available for local merchants, restaurants, stores, laundromats etc. There were no privacy curtains for all of the windows including the bathrooms and finally, there was no key available for the doors with only a garage door opener offered.
Loved the harbor view and loved the local restaurants and seafood. Rockland merchants were all welcoming and pleasant. During our week's stay the weather was wonderful.
