About this cottage rental
Love Rehoboth, but want a break from the crowds? Want peace and quiet in a natural setting? Then rent on direct beach/bayfront on the white sandy Broadkill Beach on Delaware Bay....just a dozen country miles NW of Rehoboth. Beach comb, fish, canoe, hike the wildlife preserve, golf, enjoy the bay view from a huge porch. We hope you can come see for yourself! Enjoy the natural setting, the natural beauty, the natural quiet!
Broadkill Beach, where the house is located, is a quiet old fishing village that is entirely residential (all single family homes), and one quaint country store. The town is NW of Rehoboth/Lewes, close enough to hop in the car to hit the outlets, restaurants, or the boardwalk, but far enough that you enjoy peace and quiet. Broadkill's sandy beach is great for sandcastles, kayaking, beach combing, and the huge wildlife refuge (Primehook) is another attraction. A few miles inland is historic Milton, home of a huge collection of Victorian era architecture, bookshop, antique shops, ice cream parlor, as well as being the home of a couple of Delaware's 19th century governors--there large homes are still there. This is truly an area for all kinds of vacation tastes.
Together, the beach, the country store, and the cottage create a 'Summer of '42' type setting (as my neighbor calls it). The house was built while the baby boomer's were still riding skate boards and the 'greatest generation' was still the 'working generation'. We have, in fact, summer patrons who came here first as children themselves, and they now bring their grand children. The cottage includes a huge porch and a deck.
The cottage also includes the living room, and 3 bedrooms. The one full bath and one half bath inside is complemented by a shower stall outside. There is more parking than you can use, complements of Broadkill's low density of housing. Lastly, the house and the porch face on direct beach/bay front. At night you can see the twinkling lights of Cape May, as well as the pitching and rolling lights of the Lewes-Cape May Ferry.

I've been to Broadkill Beach several times, staying in different homes each visit. We were traveling this time to see the spawning of the horseshoe crabs that takes place in the spring, timing the trip during the full moon in May. (And we're not disappointed -- lots right on the beach that night, and more to see at the DuPont Nature Center on the way home.) Being right on the beach was wonderful, because we could easily pop over the dune to check out the crabs, and when we were inside, the view from the enclosed porch was fantastic. My husband and I had the twin beds, which were comfortable and provided a good night's sleep.
The owners of the property quickly answered any questions and the house comfortably met the needs of two couples aged 50+, and I would definitely consider renting again in the future. I would bring my own cookware, as the pans available were limited and tired, but we were only there a few days, so no worries.
If you're looking for fancy new construction, this isn't the house for you, but if you appreciate a charming beach cottage with a bit of sway on the pilings, a stunning view, and easy access to the beach, you've found a good one!

We absolutely loved our stay at seaside. Great for the dogs to run on the beach. Close enough to everything but not too close. Lots of great food and fun in downtown Milton. Highly recommend if you’re looking for vintage North East beach vibes.

What a peaceful and beautiful place! I was teleworking and had the most fantastic view of the dunes, the foxes, the birds the waves and the sunrise. This place is a gem.

Quick access to the beach, beautiful views from the porch, this 3 bedroom home had everything we needed. Maybe a larger TV and a Kuerig could be added, but otherwise a good time was had by all.

We brought two grandchildren, ages 2 + 3 to enjoy some special time at the beach.. We visited Milton and the beautiful park/playground and Rehoboth for a day. We did a Pirate ship excision out of Lewes thst was great fun for kids. The house was great + the cousins shared the twin bedroom which was perfect for them. They were facinated by the bunk beds, but not quite ready for that yet. Having 2 bathrooms was a plus! We loved the enclosed porch + ate our meals + did some crafts + watched the birds. Being able to have a fire + toast marshmallows under the stars was amazing. A little bit of a hike fir a 2 + 3 year old on the path to the beach, but we brought a beach wagon + did fine. We lappreciated our special time together at this house on the bay.

The location on the dunes is fantastic yet the cottage isn’t too fancy. Perfect for family gatherings, beach walks and enjoying nature. The wifi is strong so you can continue to work remotely.

What a nice beach cottage! Beautiful views of the bay. The beach was great and not crowded .The home is charming and was perfect for us. Having a washer and dryer is nice so you are not bringing home wet suits and clothes towels.

Paying for location. Home is dated. Needs new furnishings and updated appliances. The washing machine shakes the entire house and bangs so loud the children were scared of it. Barely any thing to prepare meals with. Everything was ancient. Not one sharp knife. Only one small television makes it hard to entertain little ones. This would be a nice rental for an older couple.

Our second time renting this property, so our repeat business speaks for itself. Everything was perfect!

We spent a week with our daughter’s family at this Delaware Beach cottage. It’s a simple, clean and comfortable venue. The beach is the attraction when weather permits. The town of Lewes is close for interesting shopping, many restaurants, and kids activities like the pirate ship and the bounce house.

We couldn't have been happier! The house had everything we needed for a beach vacation, inside and out. I thought it was so cozy and inviting. This was my kids first experience with the ocean and it definitely didn't disappoint!

Quaint cottage with easy access to the beach and Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge.

Great location, fabulous porch with view of the sea, modest and comfortable home: everything I like in a beach house. In April there are no bugs so we also enjoyed the deck. Huge sandy beach with very few people. Close to Prime Hook preserve for birding and walking. Cape Henlopen has dedicated trails that would be great for biking with kids (popular and busy though). We kayaked from Milton, cute park and old town. Pay attention to the tides to know how hard you want to kayak back… Enjoy!

We have stayed at this house several times now. Awesome views! Right on the beach. Low key, simple place to relax and enjoy family and the beach.
We will be back many times in the future.

It was a cozy beach house with fantastic views. Everything we needed. My mother wants me to come back again next year. We kept tracking in sand but kept my roomba going which was a godsend. Everything perfect, just one idea: microwaveable dishes. The closet bathroom was cute and useful.
Loved being close to Prime Hook for trails, birding and kayaking. Also to Milton for groceries and amazingly good meals.

Looking forward to renting again.

The cottage was very much as depicted in the listing. The proximity to the beach was its best feature! We loved the outdoor shower and the closed in porch. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was nice. The kitchen was in need of better equipment (pans, utensils) and the place really could use a gas grill. The beach was really amazing - it is essentially a private beach. You can just leave your stuff and go back to the house for lunch. Our dog had the time of her life. The sunrise and sunsets were absolutely exquisite. Broadkill beach is the bay not the ocean so with the calm waters you must watch out for jellyfish- both myself and my daughter were stung. Bring bug-spray because there were green flies that bite. All in all, if you’re looking for a 100% relaxing beach vacation, this house is awesome. With some minor tweaks it really could be a dream.

This is a great beach cottage with lots of room. Easily fit 6-8 people. It's an older cottage but well maintained and gives you a vintage beach vibe. Especially the retro radio!
The best feature is the porch. You have a full view of the dunes and can peek at the wildlife and wave to the neighbors. It's a great spot for morning coffee and for evening cocktails. Our dogs enjoyed sleeping in the sun out there too.
Broadkill Beach is private and chill. The location gives you easy access to many other beaches! We went to Rehoboth, Dewey, Lewes and Henlopen. You can choose a calm quiet swim or take a short ride to play in the busy waves.
The host was easy to contact and responsive. Be sure to leave a note in the guest book!
Thank you for a beautiful 2 weeks!

We loved our stay. It was a short walk to the beach which was perfect for our little ones. The porch was amazing to sit and watch the waves on.

My daughter and I had a very quiet and restful week which was just what we were looking for. The weather was a bit iffy and we spent a lot of time on the front porch which overlooks the dunes and Delaware Bay. The house was vey clean and the beds were very comfortable. A few caveats for more than two people. Although the porch is quite roomy, the house itself is pretty small and the kitchen is really only built for one at a time. There is virtually no cabinet space for foodstuffs and very little counter space which makes it a bit difficult even if you’re only cooking for one or two people.
That being said, this house and Broadkill Beach make for a wonderful vacation if you want peace, quiet and lovely views.

I had a wonderful time at Broadkill Beach. The location is away from the busy popular beaches but close enough to go to the restaurants and activities. I loved being able to bring my dog. We got up every morning to beautiful sunrises and flipping horseshoe crabs. The house was just as described. I have no complaints. We spent almost all the time that we were “home” in the relaxing front room with ocean and nature views and peaceful birdsong. Could not be happier. I hope we can come again next spring!

Our small family and dog spent a week at this lovely home during spring break. Although it was cold it felt like a luxury to have access to the beach for long walks. The house is well equipped, good beds, good shower, and charming sun room. Because of time of year we were able to avoid the ubiquitous biting flies. We loved the location since it afforded a more peaceful stay. We drove to Rehoboth a few times for dinner. Overall, this was a memorable trip and we look forward to visiting again.

We loved it and had such a relaxing week and great break from the snow, ice and cold of Northern Vermont. We loved walking on the beach, the birds, wildlife and proximity to the Prime Hook NWR. We especially loved the enclosed porch and spent almost all of our indoor time there. We would definitely return.

We discovered Broadkill Beach for the first time last year and were eager to return. This cozy cottage was perfect for a quiet winter escape (the game closet was a fun surprise!). We especially loved the porch with gorgeous views and space for relaxing. The owners were very responsive and helpful with their messages. The kitchen is probably due for an update but the new mattresses and new living furniture are very good additions. The highlight of our trip were the snow geese on the beach in front of the house and also at Prime Hook Nature Preserve and Bombay Hook Preserve. Lewes is a charming beach town worth exploring (had good coffee at Notting Hill/Lewes Bakeshop). Thanks for a great stay!
