Steve raises one's consciousness of environmental issues in nature. He is attentive and kind. The nature surrounding this place is beautiful. It is an old building, but clean!
Steve should check his bookings more carefully.

It is a very quiet and beautiful place with a very chatty and friendly owner. If you would like to feel original Japanese life before the modernization - it's the perfect match.
During summer without an AC and only with fan it is too hot. Bath only in the evening\night-time. BUGS - I had a lot of bites from them which was unpleasant. Very hard to reach without a car.

The location itself is beautiful and close to Akiu shrine, Akiu Falls, etc. Lots of beauty in the nature in the area.
While the extreme heat/humidity during the heat wave is not controllable, the lack of cleanliness of the facilities and lack of things like bath towels were what led us to abandon our second night. Perhaps there is an issue with the way Booking.com presents information about the property as having a shared bathroom (true) and a private open air bath, which is really a public type bath that you wait your turn to use and is only available for certain hours in the day. There is an additional fee to be able to use the bath. It's nominal but annoying that it was not noted in booking.com.

The nature and location are excellent. Also, the owner of the facility was always ready to help you around and he is able to communicate in both English and Japanese. He is a very kind man. The onsen was very beneficial for skin.
The cleanliness of the sink and hot spring room was a bit below average. The building is very hold so it is possible to see even rarely some insects.

If you are looking for perfect getaway from city hussle, this place is for you, But mind it, this place is more like deep in nature & no luxurious kind of stuff.
But best part is Host, he is one of the kindest person i ever met in the hospitality sector of Tohoku Area,
Quick Access to River, you are do your BBQ and Owner can provide you with all stuff.
Place is 100 year old, so dont expect very high standard, you basic needs will surely be met,
Please bring bug spray with you if possible.

By the River in a picturesque location you are immersed in nature. Walking through the traditional Japanese Inn you will find yourself slipping back in time to its essence of a healing health spa. In a busy modern world this is where you can go, be, rejuvenate, rest and relax.
4.4
Location is amazing with easy acces to a river for bathing. Here you get away from the buzzeling cities of Japan and get to enjoy nature. With the animals at the location, such as a dog, a few cats and half a million rabbits. There is also an onsen at the proberty if you wish to relax in a different way. The caretaker Steve is canadian thus communication is easy.
Manual lighting every where, bugs in the evening and No WiFi. Had to keep the windows closed when light was on, which gets hot as there is no AC.(but with fans)
