The Roost was so wonderful! There is lots of space and rooms to relax and spread out in! The deck is huge, we loved spending time out there in the evenings and had happy hour! The path to the lake was smooth and it's so wonderful that we didn't have a million stairs to navigate! Fantastic location! We always love Big Round! We had a late-August miracle that it was still hot weather and we could jump in the lake without freezing! I highly recommend!

Plenty of parking, we had a gathering of friends to go fishing. Lots of room inside to also entertain when the weather doesnt cooperate. Would book again!

We head North every year for an annual snowmobile vacation. This house has the perfect location and you can snowmobile straight onto the lake from the driveway and back yard to trail #9 across Round Lake. This year however there was no snow! Luckily, family and friends we were with have ATV's so plan B was put into action and the ATV trails are also accessible from this property. We will be back next year!

I rented this for my family for a Memorial Day weekend getaway. We had 16 of us and we had plenty of room. Absolutely loved the backyard and view. The kids could kayak and fish and we could sit on the deck and keep an eye on them no problem with that little inlet. We would stay again for sure!!!!

We had a large group of guys ranging from the age of 25 to 65 and everyone had a good time. Plenty of space for everyone, plenty of sleeping spots and plenty to do in the area. The location for the fire pit was awesome, right on the lake, and everything was quiet and beautiful. Our group would tend to get a little loud when everyone was drinking and having a good time but the neighbors were all friendly and awesome and joined in the fun with us. Needless to say we would easily book with Mary and Ryan again.

This property suited our group of 6 just perfectly. Each couple had their own bedroom and their own space (if desired) between the lower and upper level living rooms AND their own bathroom. But I can see this sprawling floor plan accommodating much larger groups. The kitchen is completely equipped. There are fun board games and puzzles. The inlet is great for fishing and kayaking or canoeing. The fire pit provides a great view of the rest of the lake and the views out either level of the house over the lake are stunning. Just a short drive west into Hayward or east to other great destinations.

Our family has vacationed in the Hayward area for 17 years. This year’s week at the “Roost” was outstanding. The property was exceptionally clean. The Hansens provided many towels, paper products and cleaning supplies. The second refrigerator and lower level area with the laundry were great. We enjoyed the deck and the beautiful location on Round Lake, one of our favorites. Many thanks!!

Upon arrival we were very impressed with this property; the pictures don't do it justice! We've never stayed at a place with so many "extra's" like plastic baggies, spare light bulbs, lots of extra dishwasher soap and even shampoo & body wash. We never found ourselves wanting anything! Our kids enjoyed the excellent fishing and catching frogs in the pond/inlet. We found the owner very responsive, but also respectful of our privacy. I highly recommend the Roost, and we plan to come back!

A McMansion on the lake! The lagoon has better fishing than the main lake, no boat needed.

Round Lake Paradise
Clear water makes swimming and boating so enjoyable, and being able to swim right from the dock was great. It’s level out from the house to the lake, which is helpful for older family members. The charming inlet features a muskrat pair and is visited regularly by ducks, which made for fun viewing from the spacious deck. I can’t think of anything this place is lacking. We had a terrific stay and hope to return again!

Round Lake ‘The Roost’
We have rented this property 2 years consecutively. The owners are very nice people and have met our every wish - which is very little given all the amenities of this property. We are 5 adults and 3 children ages 5 and under. This location checks all the boxes for a lakeside property and water activities.

Roost Fans
Communication with the owners was excellent and timely. Lake access was easy and we learned what to fish on Round Lake. The lagoon had sandy access and allowed for fun water activities. Our group especially enjoyed evenings at the fire pit and spent hours taking in the lake views. The Roost had everything we needed and plenty of room for our large group. Thank you Mary and Ryan for all the extra touches.

Perfect Setting
Round Lake Roost was the perfect setting for my husband’s snowmobiling trip with our adult sons. The location on the lake was great and the house had plenty of room for the 5 of them to spread out - they enjoyed having space in the lower level to keep their gear, 4 bedrooms upstairs, and took advantage of the beautiful fireplace nightly. Planning their next trip already. Mary was a spectacular host - great communication and zero issues.

Awesome Cabin in the Middle of Nowhere!
Do yourself a favor and stop looking at all of the surrounding cabins and get this one. First, the location makes you feel like you are in the true Northwoods. The lagoon in front of the place can be turned into your own personal ice rink. Also, the cabin had more than enough room for even 14 of us. There is a lot of space in the cabin and on the property. Lastly, the owner Mary was so nice and made sure everything was going smoothly for us. Highly recommend to anyone looking to play pond hockey, ice fish, snowmobile, or just have fun in the snow.

Everything was perfect!
The Roost had everything you would need for a fun and relaxing vacation! The pictures are exactly how it is. The fire pit, picnic table and pier are all in great condition and fun to hang out by the lake. It was such a treat to have two kayaks and a wakeboard provided as well! Restaurant recommendations provided were a great experience as well!

Already planning our next stay!
I can't say enough amazing things about this property and the hosts. The house was everything we had hoped for and so much more. There was plenty of space for our entire extended family, the extra 'toys' in the garage were put to good use, the lake was challenging even to our experienced fishermen and the view both morning and night were the perfect change of scenery to re-energize our souls! Mary was extremely responsive from the very beginning. She answered all of our questions and stopped by on our first night to make sure we were settled and offer lots of suggestions on places to eat and things to do with our kiddos. We loved everything about The Roost and have already booked our stay for next summer. But - we can't wait that long - we'll be back to enjoy the winter for sure!
