In general the stay ended up good after kind of a rough start. But texting resulted in the biggest problem being fixed in a pretty timely manner.
General comments: front door key pad extremely faded and hard to read. Very confusing for people arriving in the dark. Timing of opening door tricky. Remote controls in The living room needed new batteries. The place could really have used a few more mirrors, the only mirrors were in the bathrooms. The chain on the upstairs ceiling fan broke off when we tried to use it to change the speed of the fan. The washing machine made a lot of noise though maybe that is standard for that type of washer. AC should have been installed before we arrived. The place needs more fans. When we first arrived the only fan there was old and broken. They replaced it with a good one , but really with 2 floors and 5 sleeping areas , probably more fans would be good.

Nice place worked well for what we needed just know stairs to third floor are steep and have a curve so if you have older people with you they may not feel comfortable using them and two of the bedrooms are on third floor

Broom and Board met all our expectations for lodging while in Salem MA. Very spacious with all the amenities of home. Very comfortable beds! 2 full baths with plenty of space and clean towels for each guest. Only thing is be prepared for steps to reach this unit.

We stayed for a bachelorette weekend and this place was exactly as presented. Comfortably slept all 10 of us.
The only negative I can think of was struggles with the wifi, which made it difficult for some of us to check in with our babies at home, the the hosts were very proactive. Walks to the bars downtown were pretty reasonable, but ubering when the weather is bad also isn't bad.
I would recommend this house and host to anyone looking to stay is Salem without hesitation.

The place was perfect for our group of 10 and not a bad walk to downtown area.

House is just as described. Enough space for everyone that went. Walking distance from everything. Easy to get to train to take into Boston.

We had a group of 10 and this perfectly laid out house accommodated us all with ease. The home was clean and had everything we needed. It was an 8 minute walk to all the action and we’re hoping to come back to stay next year.

We loved the home. It was equipped with everything we’d need! Super spacious for 10 of us, we were able to enjoy games at the table or spread out when needed! Recommend for large groups! One bed up stairs was missing a part so it was a little wonky, felt like it could break. Otherwise the rest of the sleep spaces were great! I would also say, the listing says 2 rolls per bathroom. If you have a large group, definitely buy toilet paper. Also there’s no sprays or cleaners we could find to clean the counters after cooking, so grab your own counter spray (or maybe they could provide it.) overall great stay!

Was a nice place to stay. Was a 15min walk to get to the center of salem. Had every thing we need with a little extra in the bathroom supplies. Had no problem at all with getting in. Would stay again.

We stayed with my son and his family- 6 of us in total and had plenty of room. The location is great- you can easily walk to Salem Center, restaurants and attractions. The train center is also close to take the commuter train into Boston. The rental company (itrips) was wonderful, replying immediately to our concerns. The rental itself is not for anyone with ambulatory issues as it has 2 steep, narrow and winding staircases. The beds were comfortable and 3 bedrooms have window air conditioners. The 4th bed was in same room as couch and TV on the 3rd floor which hindered watching at night as a child was sleeping there. There is no window in that room either so no air conditioning. The rental itself is looking worn, needs paint and upgrade on some furniture( one bar stool had a huge spring hanging out the bottom rendering it useless). The rental did supply us with some paper products, spices and coffee filters abd a welcome package of 2 bottles of wine which was a pleasant surprise. In the end I would recomend this rental based on location, quietness of neighborhood and response of rental company. If you are looking for an upscale rental though, you will probably be disappointed.

Nice place. Could have used another a/c unit in common area on third floor. It was extra hot our week though. Otherwise very nice place. We enjoyed it very much. Walking was not to bad to town and sites.

Broom & Board is a great place to stay for a girls trip in Witch City! There were six of us in our group, and the house very comfortably accommodated all of us. Everything was just as pictured, the house was very clean, and included all of amenities needed to make our stay perfect. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to explore, which was a bonus. Highly recommend!

Broom & Board is in the perfect location. Easily walkable distance to everything - shopping & museums, bike trail (rent bikes), harbor waterfront, and the best donut/ pastry shop. We had an amazing time!!

My family had a wonderful time at this rental! It was more spacious than we had expected and there was plenty of room for our group of 7. This rental is very close to the touristy destinations and made for easy walking to everywhere we wanted to go. Definitely recommend!

Property location was fantastic, easy walk to main streets. House was cute and clean, with fresh linens laid out for each guest. We did not utilize the backyard, it was a rainy/ chilly weekend. We also did not cook at the house during our 2 night stay, but appreciated having a dishwasher to load our dirty snack bowls and glasses into. Easy clean-up! We did use the extra toilet paper and paper towels we brought, but the soap provided was plenty. I appreciated having one dark washcloth for my face that had “make-up” embroidered on it. Did not want to ruin a white washcloth. Great communication with host. Perfect for 10 friends. I would recommend and/or stay again! Thank you!

The location and house itself are great. We had 7 adults for a long weekend. It's clean and well laid out. Good linens. Convenient to downtown and the train.

Great location and very spacious, however property was not very cleanly. Upon arrival, we found hair in one of the beds, a shirt on the floor, napkins and plates behind the couch and stains on the walls. Carpets could use a deep cleaning and the couches and pillows were also stained. There were wet dishes put back into the cabinets.

We had one issue with the bathroom door. One 83 year old guest got locked in when the door wouldn't open as it was hitting the floor. She shook it to open it and 2 hinges released.

Great girls weekend! Would return!
4.0 / 5.0
This house has some mildew vibes and wrecked half the groups’ sinuses. They would flare up in the house but when we would go out begin to clear up. Also, the rugs and carpet are horribly stained. Beyond that though everything was as represented and worked out well for our needs. It was quite spacious and the kitchen was well equipped.
4.0 / 5.0
We were in Salem for our daughter’s wedding and this place accommodates 9-10 people on two floors. Beds were comfortable. Having the washer and dryer was great. It was very tidy except the carpets do need cleaning. Air conditioning units in each room work well. The second floor lacked a garbage can which was inconvenient and four rolls of tp for 9-10 people over 4 to 5 days is unnecessary penny pinching. The same with trash bags. This is important because the next door neighbors become hostile when the trash is not properly disposed of. There was supposed to be a welcome book with instructions about the place but there wasn’t. Finally, there should be some care taken to tame the overgrowth of weeds in front of the house.

Very neat old Salem home converted into an apartment with amazing kitchen. Only downfall was the dryer… it didn’t really like to dry! Everything else was nice.

Days in Salem
The location and size of the house was perfect. We were able to walk to all of the attractions and each have our own room to relax during our down time

Great Family Trip
Property was located in a quaint neighborhood. Easily walkable to downtown Salem and easy access to the trails/ waterfront. Great for our family trip with 6 adults and 5 kids(1-9). Every room had a window air conditioner which was needed. We had a slight problem with the kitchen sink backing up and the garbage disposal not working but it was fixed within 24 hours. Comfy beds and great water pressure in the showers.

Perfect gathering space in Salem
Great space for our large family as we celebrated a wedding weekend for family. Would recommend for large groups looking for good gathering space! Neighbors also very friendly and communicative when needed.

Excellent location
This property is an excellent location to experience Salem. We were able to walk or bike anywhere and it was in a quiet neighborhood.
We were a three generation family of nine and the accommodations worked out splendidly with the upstairs it's own little apartment.
It appears the apartment was newly renovated with a spacious kitchen and new appliances. If you plan on cooking for a crowd, however, I suggest paper plates. There were not enough place settings, no can opener, and a single dish towel. The dishwater ran after every meal! Plenty of places to eat out.
Overall, the accommodations worked out well and as expected. We also received a quick reply when we had a question.
We had a great time.

Fantastic Stay - Walk to Downtown Salem
We had an incredibly nice stay at Broom and Board. Fit our family of 6 perfectly with a room to spare. We walked into town twice (about a 10-15 min walk), which was nice. Great vacation with our kids (7-10).
