About this house rental
Looking to get close to nature? Treat yourself! This hilly refuge is a great option for folks wanting to combine working remotely with rest and relaxation. Hiking trails and bike routes originate in our neighborhood. Deer roam freely on the property, sometimes in small herds, and it's a great space for bird watching. The apartment sits on a sunny and rustic one-acre 14 miles North of San Francisco. Off-street enclosed parking. Pets welcome.
This funky and eclectic 600-square-foot apartment is attached to the main house where the hosts live. It has a private entrance as well as a fenced yard and is totally self-contained inside the unit. We're glad to offer this option for those who like to read, work, or simply hang out outside. And of course, it's ideal for those with dogs. The apartment features a sitting room/dining area and kitchenette along with a separate bedroom and bath suite
Wireless access to higher-speed wifi and cable TV. HBO and Showtime are the premium channels (you can watch TV in bed). The kitchenette is small and fully stocked. Suitable for light cooking (heating up take out--morning coffee and tea). There is an induction burner, sink, dorm-style fridge/freezer combo, and microwave/convection oven that works very well for simple cooking and heating up. 1-serving Keurig coffeemaker with both pod and filter function, 2 French press coffeemakers, plug-in kettle, and toaster included. All china, pots, and utensils included as well as kitchen towels and table linens provided.
Full-sized bedroom with a king-sized bed. The dresser has ample space and another set of bed linens provided. The bathroom has a large shower, twin sink vanity, and a large walk-in closet with roomy storage space. Towels are provided.
In addition, we ask you to take this into mind before booking:
*If you are NOT okay with the hosts living on the property during your stay, please book another property on this site.
*Please review the size of the kitchenette to ensure it will meet your needs, especially for longer stays.
*If you have any allergies to pet dander (dogs or cats) you may want to book another reservation. We accept pets and regardless of how deep we clean, sometimes remnants hang in there.
*Rooms are a bit dark due to where the apartment is situated on the property.
*This is an older home built in the 1950s. Some surfaces may be worn and old but they are clean.
* This is not a detached cottage or separate structure; there are shared walls so expect to hear some of the common noises of everyday life like toilets flushing, water running, footfalls, etc.

We enjoyed relaxing in the back yard. The host made us feel very welcome with quick assistance and left a lot of snacks and breakfast items for us to enjoy.

We loved staying at the Sleepy Hollow home. It was spacious enough for us to spread out but cozy enough for us to feel right at home. When my husband and I had Zoom meetings at the same time, we were able to be in separate rooms and undisturbed by the other. Amy and Edgar were friendly, communicative, available, and happy to help. I loved the attention to detail and the extra touches that just made our stay more enjoyable. From the huge king-size bed to the number of seating places and tables to the selection of breakfasts and coffees available to the lovely welcome basket of goodies upon our arrival. We would highly recommend this place to other couples.

Cozy unit with a nice sized bedroom and bathroom, and a walk in closet. The private fenced in area is really cool. Be sure to read the host's notes regarding suitability for your stay.

This unit is in a beautiful neighborhood. It’s quiet and just what we were looking for. The breakfast goodies and snack basket were an excellent plus. We were pleasantly surprised to see a coyote on the hill the first morning and deer in the driveway later.

Great location. Spacious accommodation. Because of where it is situated in the house, the rooms are rather dark. Fridge and toaster but no cooking surface. Friendly, helpful hosts.

We felt very lucky to find a place to stay within walking distance of our sons home in San Anselmo. The hosts were very easy to communicate and work with. The area that we stayed was clean, friendly quaint, and perfect for our three day stay. The host left breakfast goodies, snacks and fresh flowers on the tables. It was a wonderful place to rest at night, and we will certainly be back the next time we visit our son.

It turns out I know Amy and Edgar from 24 years ago. It was wonderful to bring each other up to date.
Life if full of surprises. This was one of the very nice ones.

Edgar and Amy are the nicest hosts, I appreciated the snacks they left out for me after my morning flight. They provided adequate privacy, were very kind and welcoming throughout my stay. I recommend this place for anyone looking for a short-term rental close to San Anselmo.

Great 3 night stay, great communication from host with arrival info. The apartment is charming and clean with small outdoor seating/dining area that’s so cute and relaxing. The snacks and goodies were above and beyond. Definitely would stay here again if returning to the area. Thank you!

Wonderful stay in Marin County. We had a very pleasing stay with Amy Jo and Edgar. The home is nicely appointed and the hosts provided lots of amenities that made our stay very convenient. The surrounding area is beautiful and we had deer surrounding the home on several evenings. Plenty to see and do around here also!

Quiet Refuge
Quiet, restful property which was just right size for two adults and our pup.
In quiet neighborhood but close to shopping, groceries and a wonderful dog park.
Very walkable, if you are fit enough to handle the hilly ups & downs of the road
Clean, well furnished with amenities.

Sweet jewel in the hills of San Anselmo
I was back in San Francisco for a running event and stayed here for the weekend. The location was perfect for me. I could sit out back and listen to the birds and even saw a buck and female deer on the hill, one evening, at sunset! Very quiet and chill home away from home. It was a cozy, homey, place to arrive after a long journey. Every detail was considered from goodies to local area info and delivery if you desire. I spent one night just watching movies since I had to get up early. Communication was terrific and they were helpful with additional info I was seeking upon arriving about the town. Thank you for sharing your magical place with me!

Quaint and cute
The apartment is part of an old house (like most houses in San Anselmo) but it is very independent of the main house. We had our privacy, also a small yard to let de dogs do their business in the morning.
Inside, it was clean and comfortable. Mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker(s), toster. No stove but we were warned about it. No A/C ( you rarely need it in Marin) but 2 fans.
Nice bathroom and huge walk-in closet with lot of hangers (yeah). Good, comfortable king sized bed with lots of pillows.
The owners were nice and cordial. They made themselves available any time.
We were pleasantly surprised with goodies in the fridge fir breakfast and other snacks.
Everything reflected very well on the pride and care that the owner put in this place.
We will come back and we will recommend it to our friends.
Excellent value for the price.

Great place in all ways!
My husband, my dog and I truly enjoyed every bit of our stay in this lovely home. Amy and Edgar are perfect hosts- there when you need them, otherwise non-intrusive; the layout of the house Is fairly miraculous in that the space feels more spacious than the square footage would suggest. The location is also perfect- affording amazing hikes, and easy access to San Fran and other gorgeous Marin activities. I highly recommend everything about this rental.

Eclectic and quaint
Amy, the owner, was so responsive when I had any questions, whether about the rental or San Francisco!! The rental is about 30 minutes from San Francisco in good traffic but the drive is very interesting so no issues there. Thank you Amy for being very welcoming!!

Homey, comfortable place
Quiet neighborhood, exceptionally welcoming host (personal guided tour of the space upon arrival; and fruit, snack, and drink packages on table and in refrigerator). The place has a comfortable, well-used feel. I would have liked more horizontal surfaces (tabletops, etc.) and more electrical outlets around the rooms for charging a cellphone. I ended up using the extension cord by the bed, but its socket was worn so I had to pay attention when plugging the charger into it. Modern bathroom with big walk-in closet. Unusual large painting covering the door to the fire escape hallway; kind of spooky but not something that prevented me from sleeping.

Cute and Comfortable
Amy is such a great hostess. The rental was exactly as described. My husband and I were so comfortable and the bed was so nice. There was a fenced area for our dog so we could just leave the door open and let him roam outside. The location is very close to San Rafael where our daughter lives. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would stay here again. Thank you Amy for sharing your place with us!

A jewel in the San Anselmo hills!
My husband and I had a wonderful stay in Amy and Edgar’s funky accommodation in the hills. They are generous, wonderfully hospitable people and provided us with croissants and cream cheese, a basket of goodies including chocolate, and cheese and pickled vegetables and a basket full of fruit, all elegantly presented. They were also extremely responsive when we couldn’t work the T.V. and arranged for a technician to be there first thing the following morning, and he was.
The accommodation is spacious, sparkling clean and full of charm. Comfortable bed and pillows, large walk-in closet off the bathroom. Tiny kitchenette and place a bit dark for my liking, better lighting would have helped, but that’s a very personal.view and I noted another person indicated he would have preferred it darker in the mornings. Your own private garden is enchanting and has a table and chairs that makes it delightful to have coffee and breakfast there. The setting is gorgeous in the hills, super quiet and peaceful. And never a problem with off street parking since you have your own reserved space. Delightful and highly recommend.

Perfect and adorable beyond what I can describe in just words!
I couldn't be more happy that Amy and Edgar let us stay at at Sleepy Hollow.
Not only was it clean, but it was adorable and beaming with charm! We loved the decor!
Amy and Edgar went over and beyond to make us feel comfortable. There were so many special touches from the crackers and cheese, to the fresh muffins for breakfast. There were little nuance's everywhere that made us feel at home and made our stay that much more special.
The place was private and in a beautiful area! We had a designated place to park. The bedroom was large with a comfortable bed. Plenty of room in the bathroom, with a huge closet for our things. Cute living room area with an adorable kitchen stocked with a selection of teas and coffee, and many other little touches.
We loved that there was an outside sitting area where we enjoyed our morning coffee. There were even a couple little birds that we enjoyed watching while sitting outside.
I can't say enough about how much we loved staying here. It went well beyond our expectations. Thank you so much Amy and Edgar for such a lovely place!

Homey eclectic private hideaway
Space is divided up nicely. Husband is a very early riser, nice folding doors enabled him to make coffee without waking me. Lots of considerate touches - welcome basket and goodies in the fridge. Would have enjoyed the outside garden more, if it wasn't for the nearby fires. Excellent hospitality.

Wonderful!
The location was wonderful, very clean and comfortable! It fit the bill for us, two weary grandparents who were vising their son and his family with young children a mere minutes away. If we had any criticism at all, it was the lack of comfortable seating to relax in the evening. Hopefully, we'll stay with Amy and Edgar again, they were wonderful hosts and we're very grateful!!

Sweet little hideaway kind of place, quiet and peaceful, very attentive owners
My husband and I stayed here for several days and found it very pleasant, appealing, charming, and cozy. Amy Jo is super attentive, and set us up with a great little starter set of food and drink. The location is a bit off the main path, but as long as you know you'll have a bit of a drive to the freeway, you'll be fine. It's a beautiful spot, on a hill overlooking a sweet valley, and we enjoyed lovely summertime sunsets from the front yard. We were there to visit family in Marin County, so focused on that, but there's superb hiking in the area, and about two miles away a great natural-foods grocery store and a cute little town with a few restaurants, bars with live music, and a movie theater. All the many options of San Rafael aren't far, either. Thumbs-up; I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

Beautiful
Sleepy hollow apartment is beautifully decorated and is the perfect place for a couples gateway. Amy's welcoming basket, cheese and fruits were a lovely surprise. The app is truly enchanting. A perfect 10 in my book. I will surely be returning in the very near future.

cozy and quiet!
This is a lovely little place, close to San Francisco, Pt. Reyes, West Marin bike routes and North Bay wine country. Amy and Edgar were lovely hosts, who made us feel very much at home.
There is a large sitting room/dining/kitchen area and a roomy bedroom with a comfortable king-size bed. The kitchen is small, but includes enough equipment to prepare a simple meal. They were happy to have our little dog come to stay as well--there is even a small fenced yard for a puppy to explore outside the apartment. We will definitely be returning!

Great location in Marin county!
This apartment's San Anselmo location was perfect for our recent California road trip with our dog. Easy access to walking trails in Tierra Linda-Sleepy Hollow Open Space (walk to trail nearby), Roy's Redwoods (15 mins car), Pt. Reyes National Seashore (1 hr car), Natalie Coffin Greene Park (15 mins car) and others. Also near many restaurant choices in nearby San Anselmo and Fairfax. The Larkspur ferry terminal to San Francisco is also only 15 mins away by car. Apartment is very comfortable and private and kitchen is good for light cooking as advertised. Amy provided some items for breakfast for our first day which were much appreciated after our long drive. Wifi can be slow or spotty at times but otherwise fine. Bottom line, a great base for exploring Marin.
