About this apartment rental
This property is a unique historic carriage house of extraordinary design, formerly the studio of a metal sculptor. Very high ceilings, artistically styled, fabulous space and location. Modern decor, many pieces made by the sculptor and furniture designer. Loft bedroom, all the comforts while staying in an actual piece of art! The kitchen and bathroom have recently been remodeled with quality: artisan crafted cabinets in the kitchen and unique modern bathroom design by an artist.
Downstairs is an open floor space. The dining table is the artist's refinished work table. Much of the furniture is uniquely crafted as well.Upstairs is a brand new queen bed and several comfy seating areas for working or reading.
Everything is fresh as it has been recently renovated; all the bedding, dishes, etc are brand new. The carriage house has been featured in the Washington Post and has twice been chosen to be on the Dupont Circle House Tour and the Logan Circle House Tour.
This carriage house, or studio as we always call it, is a private space for guests with a private entrance. It's like having your own little home with everything you need to be comfortable. There is an area in front of the carriage house where you can hang out in good weather with chairs and a table and umbrella.
The Dupont-Logan neighborhood is central to shopping, dining, clubs and walking distance to just about everything you might want to do in DC. Parks are nearby, Metro, Bike-sharing, steps away.
Please note that you must walk down a short, and safe alley to get to the carriage house. Please do not go to any of the row houses to access the location. They are not associated with the space.

I stayed several weeks here when I was working in the area. Absolutely loved my stay. It's such a beautiful and unique space! The photos don't even do it justice. My visitors were also super impressed. The location is also fabulous--a beautiful neighborhood and walking distance from grocery stores, great restaurants, boutiques, etc.. It's also relatively close to lots of museums and tourist attractions--an easy Uber ride or bike/scooter ride on safe bike lanes in the area. AND the place comes with a parking space! When my husband visited, Susan (my host) also provided me with a local parking permit, so I could easily park on the street and we could keep my husband's car in the parking space. Susan was a great host and responded very quickly to any questions. I would love to stay here again.

Carriage house/sculptor studio.
A completely unique sculpted studio turned living space. So different from high-rise condo. Wonderful, private, quiet and fun.

Delightful Treasure
This is an amazing place to stay. Surrounded by the artwork, it was also an inspiring place to write. The neighborhood is very vibrant and fun to explore with lots of restaurants. The host is so helpful and was very accommodating. I highly recommend the carriage house and hope to return again soon.

Amazing space
One of the loveliest properties I have ever stayed at, in terms of the artwork which you can see but is better in person, and all the bespoke metalwork finishes inside the cottage.

Great place to stay
This was an awesome studio, the neighborhood was very trendy and walkable, it is about two blocks from great restaurants and shopping and about a mile from China town. Susan was a great host, met me for check in and showed me around the place, where to find the light switches, and how to secure the door, this was very helpful because it isn't wasn't obvious or like most doors and switches. Also gave me some recommendations for restaurants. I hope I get an opportunity to stay here again. I would love to have more time to explore the area. Important to know - it was very clean and I felt safe here.

The carriage house is in a great location to visit DC. The neighborhood is lovely and very walkable, with restaurants and groceries just blocks away. It’s located in a quiet rear space behind well kept brownstones. Metro is a 7 block easy walk in a nice area and bus stops are all around. We used Uber quite often and the rides were short to DC attractions. We felt it was a very safe area to walk in and there were always friendly people around. The house itself is very unusual, with interesting artwork in every corner. Definitely not your standard rental, it had its own personality. The owner, Susan, made sure we had everything we needed and the house was well stocked. The front door was a bit tricky to lock and it took some practice. The queen size bed was very comfortable and we had a good size closet and chest with three drawers for storage upstairs. A battery powered night light was provided that we hung on the stairs for safety at night, as the bathroom was downstairs. The bathroom had a tub with shower and the shower pressure was great. The kitchen had stainless appliances, a full size refrigerator, stove and dishwasher. The downstairs kitchen, dining and living room were in one big open space. I loved that I could sit on the bed upstairs and watch the tv downstairs. After a long day of seeing DC, this was a great place to come home to.

Perfect DC Weekend
The Location of the Artist Studio Carriage House is ideal for walking and exploring DC’s wonderful sights. We enjoyed our stay in the studio and the convenience of enjoying coffee and breakfast prior to heading out each day. The studio kitchen has everything we needed. The bedroom loft is spacious, full of natural light and the bed was very comfortable.

Perfect
Excellent location near all, VERY cozy and comfortable, and unique. If you want fancy and sterile with a big screen TV, this place is not for you. But if you are a family or person with beautiful peaceful and eclectic spirit who wants to explore DC and come home to a safe, welcoming and peaceful homebase, this place is a gem. Excellent host as well. We did not want to leave and look forward to our next visit.

Cherry 🍒 Blossoms Galore
Came for the cherry blossoms, fortunately i arrive at peak time. The studio was so comfortable and so close to everything. If we couldn’t walk we ubered. Wish we could have stayed longer. Will definitely stay again. So unique. Recommend to everyone!!

Great location! Cute place! Amazing owner!
My husband and I enjoyed the DuPont Carriage House during our stay in DC. It was clean, comfortable and incredibly well-located, Metro stations close by and some amazing local flavor, all walkable! We checked out Estadio for Tapas and had the best meal ever! Susan was gracious, friendly and incredibly generous and patient! Working with us through a few cancellations and even alerting us ahead of time to some construction in the adjacent row house and carriage house. Most days we were out and about, but they started early so sleeping in wasn't in our cards. Great breakfast places close so that helped (Ted's Bulletin and Commissary are high on the list)
Overall, great place, perfect spot and Susan's kindness and eagerness to help made it a wonderful stay!

Artistic delight in Washington, DC
Entering the condo, guests are welcomed by a huge metal sculpture, further indicating the artistic interior. The condo is tucked neatly behind a row of beautiful townhouses in a great neighborhood. It is a former carriage house turned into an artist studio, turned into a condo! We loved the interior with its artistic touches, open air plan, unique metal sculpture and cozy vibe. The bedroom is upstairs, but we had no problem with going downstairs to use the bathroom, which, by the way, is also creative. We were worried that it was a bit far from DuPont Circle, but we used Uber so the location was fine. Great local restaurants are very near and several groceries. Loved the condo. It is definitely for those who love unique spaces, not for those who want luxury. The condo is nicely appointed and had everything that we needed. Susan was a wonderful host who was available for any of our needs.

A unique find in the great area of Dupont Circle Washington DC
We stayed at the Artist Studio Carriage House for 9 days and just loved it. The artwork inside and outside the studio is amazing and every day we noticed another lovely piece hiding...........the area is great and close to great bars and restaurants and all bus and metro links too. l think it is safe to say we will be coming back!!

Beautiful space!
This Artist Studio was absolutely beautiful - very cozy and creative. Susan could not have been more accommodating. The alley entrance is the only drawback. Otherwise, it is just perfect!

Unique and beautiful spot in the center of everything!
Such a cool home away from home. Fully furnished loft-studio great for couples or a small family, especially artsy types who want to immerse themselves in sculpture etc. Full kitchen, well appointed bath, comfy beds, cool funky architecture and decor make this a one-of-a-kind place to stay. Best part is Susan, your hostess, whose kindness and generosity can not be overstated. I’m a hard rater, and this is definitely a 5-Star VRBO in DC!

Fantastically Unique
Beautiful artist's studio central to many local eateries with great accessibility to the DC area. Full of beautiful sculptures by Robert T. Cole whose studio used to be at this location. You must Google his work to appreciate the sculptures within.
Susan is fantastic host and very helpful with suggestions of where to hang out. She herself is a great artist also. We strongly recommend staying at the Artist Studio Carriage House. We definitely will be coming back.
The parking space is nice. However, you can Uber everywhere from this location. The Metro is short walk away.

Wonderfully unique place to stay!
The carriage house is in a perfect location, is unique, and is aesthetically interesting. You’ll notice more and more tiny details by the artist as your stay goes on. Susan is a wonderful host. Very communicative and helpful. We had a great weekend in DC!

Even better than the pictures! Beautiful art in a lovely,functional space that is a destination.
We loved staying here in in place that felt like an art museum. Our adult son traveled with us and Susan was very accommodating. There was a nice air mattress available for him so we all had comfortable sleeping areas. We enjoyed the neighborhood and we were able to walk to most of the places we visited including the National Mall. Uber never let us down in DC, traveling to and from BWI and to the wharf for a boat ride to Mount Vernon which we rate very high too! The kitchen is well equipped and there are several places to shop very close by as well as restaurants we enjoyed. The large building that is in the front yard view is the House of the Temple Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. They have free tours and a geocache on the property. If you find it the prize is a beautiful Danbury Mint coin depicting DC on the front and Charleston, SC on the back. You have to visit it since it is right there at the studio! All are very much welcome and they truly appreciate you visiting. It is an amazing place to see! Susan is also a very welcoming hostess. You simply will not find better accommodations with such character in DC. If you have looked at the pictures and read about this place and are interested, book it!!!

Perfect for us
The apt was great, clean, and had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable and the decor absolutely beautiful. It is in the Dupont Circle district so we were able to walk to all we wanted to do. Susan is great and a joy to do business with. The parking spot is a life saver as well. We would come back and stay here again when the opportunity arises.

Great discovery!
The cottage is a wonderful place to stay - charming, art-filled and inspiring at the same time. Susan couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful. The location is excellent and makes most museums and great restaurants walkable - very quiet and restful too with it's off-street location. Thanks for making this treasure available, Susan.
