About this apartment rental

The apartment is part of a patrician palace presumably dating back to 1300, formerly the seat of the Doge Marcello family. For several centuries it has been owned by my family and only 40 years ago it has been renovated and divided into apartments.

It is located in an absolutely enviable and strategic position a few steps from the Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco.

It maintains many of its original beautiful and characteristic architectural elements: the verdant private garden with the characteristic well and the water door, the imposing wooden entrance door to the garden.

Inside the apartment, the high ceilings of over 5 meters with gothic trifora windows and the beautiful "Sansovino" coffered ceiling stand out. The apartment occupies part of the original ancient library and the dining room of the old building.

The house is equipped with effective air conditioning. In the living room, under the mezzanine, two large sofas (one of which is a double bed), a small table and a large flat-screen TV, offer a pleasant relaxation area. The dining area, under the large windows, is part of the living room. Everything is pleasantly decorated with antiques. On the mezzanine, above the sofa area, there is a bedroom with a queen-size bed, a single bed, a baby bed and a wardrobe. The kitchen is perfectly equipped and functional, there is a table for breakfast or informal meals. The main bathroom has a bathtub with shower, two sinks, toilet and bidet. Stairs lead from the entrance corridor to the bright main bedroom with half-moon windows. The master bedroom has a small bathroom with sink and toilet.

Completely renovated with a mix of modern sensitivity and respect for original details, Palazzo Notarbartolo will offer its guests a unique and unforgettable experience in Venice!

Tenants are provided with bed linen and towels; the cleaning service is provided only at the end of the stay for short periods, for periods longer than a week the price includes a cleaning service and change of linen.

The tourist tax of € 4.00 per person / night (up to 5 nights) is payable in cash on arrival. Children up to 10 years do not pay, young children from 10 to 16 pay 50%.

We had a fantastic three-day stay at this VRBO property in Venice. The two rooms were spacious, and the living and dining room were perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring the city. The location is central, making it easy to get around and enjoy everything Venice has to offer. A special thanks to Andrea, the house manager, who was incredibly helpful and informative throughout our stay. We truly appreciated the hospitality and highly recommend this property for anyone looking to experience Venice comfortably!"

We loved this beautiful apartment. We had a comfortable stay (helped by the air-conditioning as it was hot weather), felt very at home, and wished we had booked for longer. The palazzo apartment is in a quiet area in the heart of Venice. Both the owner, and the host Andrea who met us, gave us all the information we needed and Andrea gave us extra help when we needed it. We hope to return another year, and will recommend it to our friends.

This was a great place for our family of 4. We loved how close it was to everything. Since we traveled with just backpacks we were even able to walk to the train station our last day. There’s a grocery store steps away. It was very quiet and relaxing.

Our family of five (children ages 11,15,18) thoroughly enjoyed this lovely apartment. Great communication from property owner who provided many maps and detailed instructions on checkin requirements and process well in advance, as well as tips for our stay. The apartment is well located with a lovely garden and lots of character (dates back to 1300’s!). Very clean and comfortable with excellent air conditioning. Definitely recommend.

Very well situated near major landmarks and waterways. We are a family of 6 with 3 kids aged 13, 9 and 8 and an older senior aged 80. Pros: good restaurant recommendations, walkable to major tourist sites such as St. Mark’s Plaza, lots of space for 6, washer and dryer, elevator, good enough AC by European standards, neighborhood was quiet and seemed safe. Cons: 1. the dryer takes a long time to dry and it’s not intuitive. I recommend that the owner leave instructions in English and Italian for how to use the machine. 2. Needs more instructions for how to get the Internet working. To get the Internet working the first time, you may have to press the button marked “Wireless- LAN.” This was off but once we turned it on it worked. 3. The garden shown in photos is just the entryway. You can’t really sit there. 4. Under the beds and in the closets it was dusty and the blankets in the closets need a wash. Kids thought the sheets were scratchy. 5. I appreciate it when a VRBO provides basics such as salt, shampoo, etc., even if they feel the need to charge more. This lodging had some of those things, such as salt and dish soap, but it would have been helpful to have even more supplies such as aluminum foil, Parmesan cheese, and a filtered water pitcher. It’s more environmentally friendly and less garbage. 6. Style: personally I recommend less decoration. Emptier = you can make it more your own space and it’s easier to find your stuff.
