John&Suzanne are two wonderful people, so warm and welcoming. It was so nice to spend a night at their amazing property!
They put up the Norwegian flag at their front gate, just for me, the bed was super comfortable, the breakfast was amazing - I could just go on…!
Highly recommended!!!

The friendly welcome and the lovely breakfast
The table between the 2 chairs was a little to small to put a plate of biscuits and wine on

Hawkdun Rise is located on the outskirts of Alexandra a quaint village with a beautiful river running through the middle. however, Suzanne and John directed us to the historical village of Clyde and later Cromwell enroute to Queenstown. These villages are a must see with excellent restaurants, bars and history aplenty.
Our visit would only have been improved by staying a night or two extra.

The breakfast was lovely. Very well executed & high standard of food & service.
The hosts were warm & welcoming.
The lack of air conditioning in the rooms was bit of a let down as we were experiencing high temps well into the evening so it made it a bit uncomfortable. They only had quite a small fan in the room which didn’t do much. I would suggest investing in something free standing that provides a/c.

The location of this property is wonderful and the accommodation is well set up looking out over the vineyard. The beds were super comfortable, the linen was high quality and the rooms were large and very clean. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and we wish we had organised dinner as well. Suzanne and John are very welcoming and extremely personable. The whole experience was delightfully unpretentious despite being such a high standard. More kiwis need to experience this!
