About this cottage rental
CAREEL COTTAGES are two completely self contained properties. Both are perfect for couples, families and friends. Our BACK COTTAGE is the larger of the two with a fully fenced garden and is available to book now for up to 6 guests. We also have a Travel Cot for guests travelling with an infant.
The BACK COTTAGE is the original cottage on the land
and has been newly renovated in May 2017. From its humble beginnings as a miners cottage in the 1940’s it is now a stylish and contemporary home waiting for you to come and enjoy. So if you are planning a stay in the mountains and want the convenience of being close to everything and not breaking your budget then Careel Cottages will not disappoint.
The BACK COTTAGE consists of 2 BEDROOMS with a Queen in the main bedroom and a double in the other. In the lounge we have a brand new Queen size top quality sofa bed which can accommodate 2 people making maximum people of 6 that can stay.
There are 2 BATHROOMS.
We can now offer a brand new kitchen and dining area that is designed to mix the old cottage ambience with the new. Creating we hope a mountains experience that will make your stay that extra bit special. If you want to cook at home everything is provided for you starting with the spacious essastone bench top and bar. Cooking is a Miele Induction cooktop and your oven is a Smeg. There is a dishwasher and if on a longer stay we have a combination washing machine dryer.
Our new lounge area has a cozy Rinnai real flame gas log fire which pumps out the heat to cope with the coldest of winter nights. All our furniture is super comfortable including our outdoor setting and BBQ area in the new covered patio which is a great space to take in the afternoon sun with a glass of wine.
We provide Foxtel in Both Cottages plus we have excellent high speed internet and offer Free Wi Fi in BOTH Cottages.

Thanks so much for Steve and Sharon for letting us stay at your beautiful property. Our family and fur balls had a great weekend. House was comforting and warm (despite the wintery weather). Had all the perks with the TV entertainment package and our 5yo daughter loved the sofa bed.
Close to town and surrounding tourist activities and even the pond and walks around the house were very tranquil. The sports and aquatic centre even proved a bonus to fulfil a few hours. Hope to be back again some time

It's a great little cottage, private with a great yard for a dog. There is an awesome space across the road for the kids and dogs to run around.

We loved this well thought out cottage and the location. Close to the town centre and opposite a beautiful park. The owners were so helpful and provided great service. The cottage has everything you need. We will be booking again this year. We had a great time.

We stayed here in 2022 for 2 nights and found we needed longer to get away from Sydney, so chose a 3 night stay this weekend. Property has all we needed (and many things we didnt use, but others no doubt will). Far enough away from the main streets, but close enough to walk if you are active enough and a perfect location to venture out to any of the Blue Mountains 'places to see'

Property had everything we needed and more. Steve abd Sharon have really set this place up nicely. Fenced area for our puppy, plus all amenities that we needed. Relatively short (but uphill) walk to the main street of Katoomba, or a 2 minute drive. We could not be happier with the place itself, and the location. We certainly will be looking at this place on our next trip up to the Blue Mountains

Location of the cottage is really great. Its modern design gives the coziness. I liked there are 2 sofas with one of them is convertible sofa bed to accommodate 6 of us without talking away the comfort of the living room. The kitchen is well equipped with everything for a simple cooking when we don’t feel like dining out. The instant heaters really help in the morning as it was still quite cold.
We enjoyed a walk at the little lake opposite the cottage in one of the evenings. It gave a very peaceful feeling with the great sunset.
Overall, my family had a great experience staying at the cottage. Everyone including our teenage children enjoyed staying at the cottage.
Thanks to Steve and Sharon for their responsiveness on my emails. Oh, almost forgot to mention that the complementary container of candies and chocolates in the fridge makes my children happy too. Thank you 😄

We had a lovely school holiday getaway at Careel cottages. The place was very thoroughly furnished, very clean, the hosts communicated very well and also managed to allow an earlier check in. Lots of heating, beautiful gas fireplace and other heaters to keep us all cosy and the house was very private at the back of the property. Tonnes of entertainment including Netflix, Stan etc. to keep our kids busy! Our pet cavoodle also loved the property and surrounding walks, and it was also within walking distance to the main town shops - providing good exercise going up the hill :) I highly recommend this place and would stay here again, thank you!

Perfect for our getaway!
The cottage was perfect for our stay. Bright and spacious with everything you could ever need for a weekend away. Lots of blankets and throws and the gas fire was amazing. Heated the whole house, there was no need to use any of the other heaters that were provided.. A very comfortable sofa bed. Steve was a lovely host who provided all the information we needed and let us know the cottage was ready early if we were able to take advantage of an early check in. The beautiful park across the road with the walking track was an added bonus.

Peaceful Getaway
Great location and great house to stay at. Offers everything you need for your stay. Only minutes from downtown and the park across the road was nice to walk the dogs every morning, with a little history tour along the way. Would highly recommend and would love to stay again.
Weather was perfect too, cold but beautiful sunshine out everyday.

Trip to 3 sisters
We really enjoyed our stay at Blue Mountains the cottage was so warm and cosy with everything we needed. It was located within walking distance to the shops and restaurants. We brought our fur baby, so it was fantastic there was a fully enclosed fence to keep him safe. Loved our stay would return again.

Our favourite getaway!
Steve and Sharon are amazing hosts. This is our second time staying at Careel Cottages and I can’t see us staying anywhere else when we go to Katoomba. The location is perfect and we will definitely be back!

A clean and comfortable home close to town .
Exactly as advertised. The bed is very firm which suited us but may not work for others. The kitchen is well set up and little extras make the place even better. Recent poor weather has left the garden a bit overgrown which made it impossible to use the outside area ( inundated with mozzies). Great kitchen and bathroom and very clean .

We stayed in the larger cottage at the back this year, and enjoyed the extra space and second bathroom.

Excellent location
Had a really seamless stay with my husband and my lil furry-boy. Located in a very convenient location, we went on a nice stroll around the park across the road, as well as to the shops nearby.
The cottage is very well-equipped and we really appreciated this.

Great stay close to town
Beautiful, spacious property and so glad that the fire was so good!
The walk in to Katoomba was hillier than we thought (from GoogleMaps) but only around 15mins.
Inside looks just as expected from the photos and had everything that we needed.

Exceeded expectations
The property is lovely. Heating, beds, kitchen and showers are all fabulous. The check in instructions were very simple and the description of the property was accurate. The location is great. Close to town center and a park across the road to walk the dog. Could easily stay at this property every time I am in Katoomba. For anyone needing a few days break or travelling for work, this property is marvelous!

The house is amazing. It is very clean, nice kitchen and specious living area. My puppies enjoyed the big backyard.

Perfect for a family getaway
Superb accommodation in the heart of Katoomba. Had everything we needed, close to the main shops and walking distance to the Three Sisters. Definitely recommend.

Great little property with good proximity to Katoomba town center.
We were after a pet friendly house for a short weekend away with the kids, and this property was the perfect size for that. With Catalina Park and it's abandoned race track right across the road it made a great location for taking the dog for an interesting walk.

Marvelous Motown...
Enjoyed a delightful 2-night stay at Steve's joint. All the mod cons and great instructions on how to use everything. Loved the turntable and collection of old records - especially the Motown classics. Very handy to the Aquatic centre for a swim and sauna. Only blemish... no shampoo! Cheers... JG
