The wooded setback location of this cottage across the road from the lake provides a nice quiet escape from the lake and road noise. Cottage is old but has been upgraded with nice cupboards, sink, refrigerator and other details. The screen porch and older classic furnishings are very comfortable and well maintained. Ver comfortable for 2-3 adults or a larger family with small children
Jean and Marty are great hosts, available when you need them but otherwise give you personal privacy even though the cottage is beside their home.

The cabin was perfectly located. We loved the lake and the dock...our kids were in the water constantly. The cabin was a good size with 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen, living room with tv and wifi, and screened porch. The kids loved the bunk bed! Jean and Marty were great hosts, and we didn't want to leave. We will definitely plan a repeat trip to this location!

Review of our stay 7/17-7-24 2021
Jean and Marty are very nice people who go out of there way to make sure you have an enjoyable stay while visiting. Jean went out of her way to find me a rowboat that she borrowed from a friend so that I could fish using my trolling motor which made my stay much better. They gave my son a bike to use and even offered to take us for a boat ride on their personal boat. The cottage itself was very clean and had all the essentials. The only disappointment for us was the location of the cottage. I guess I didn’t look at the photos thoroughly enough in the listing but we thought the cottage was right on the water not across the street. We also didn’t realize we would be in the side/back yard of Marty and Jean’s house which kind of made it less private for us. The listing is a little deceiving which I’m sure is not intentional, maybe it should be made a little clearer where the location of the cottage actually is. Overall we had a great time and as I said Marty and Jean are really great hosts!

Great Lakefront Property with Wonderful Hosts
This property was exactly as advertised. It is a charming cottage with a splendid view of the lake. Easy access to your own dock. Jean and Marty are wonderful hosts, made sure we were very comfortable and on numerous occasions helped bring more chairs as we had guests visit. Highly recommend.

Great lake week
We had a lovely stay at the cottage, and I would totally recommend it to others! Jean and Marty were the perfect hosts, giving us advice about where to find the best fried seafood and providing us with games/floats to keep our kids busy. The cottage was adorable and clean and met our needs perfectly. The internet signal was not super strong in the house, which was not an issue except when my husband needed to take a few work calls, but he was able to catch the signal in the yard of the cottage without a problem.

This lakeside cottage is quaint, comfortable, clean, and well stocked; offering a lovely "home away from home" environment which my family and I enjoyed thoroughly. The lake lives up to its name (crystal clear and magnificent), and if you enjoy a peaceful lake that's not too bust -- this is a magnificent option. Jean and Marty were kind and gracious hosts, and we're so happy to have made their acquaintance. We hope to visit again for another relaxing lakeside getaway!

Perfect cosy cottage on a beautiful lake!
Marty & Jean’s quaint and cosy lake cottage was perfect for us! The view and proximity of the lake in the front and the woods around the property make it a peaceful vacation retreat. It reminded us of our family lake vacations when our three children were young! So much fun! This cottage rental is perfect for a family with young children and teenagers; it fulfills all that it offers: Kayaks, sunfish sail boat, canoe, plenty of floats, small private dock, a floating deck, a sand box for the little ones to enjoy in and around the lake! The location of the cottage is so convenient to many of the local attractions, too. Less than 1/2 an hour to Laconia, Meredith and Moultonborough and the big lakes! Marty & Jean are friendly & gracious hosts. Jean patiently helped my husband get the sailboat ready for his sail around the lake which he enjoyed tremendously! We would consider coming back to this peaceful cottage our next time in the area and we highly recommend it for your vacation. We know you and your family will enjoy it, too!

Wonderful lake get-away!
Our family of 5 - mom, dad and kids ages 3, 6, and 8 - loved our time together at Crystal Lake! With the lake and private dock just yards away, we all enjoyed playing in the water, swimming to the raft and jumping (and tossing each other) off, and just relaxing! The lake water was absolutely clear and surprisingly warm. Marty and Jean are superb hosts. The cabin was clean and totally ready when we arrived. They gave us great recommendations and directions and even allowed me use their cooler when I went to the grocery store. They provided us floats that the kids loved, AND gave us an additional after we accidentally popped one of them! Our week included exploration of the lake and amateur fishing in Marty and Jean’s canoe, and several nice walks in the woods just behind the cabin — complete with a sighting of two little fawns! Thank you Marty and Jean for sharing your serene slice of New Hampshire with us!

Best week of the summer
The cottage is very cute. We grilled every day and swam to our hearts content. My two boys caught a ton of fish. Marty and Jean were the greatest host we could have asked for.

Great lake cottage
Had a great week at lake cottage. Jean & Marty were great hosts. I just wish I knew the lake and dock were across the street. Not a busy street at all, just with 3 little kids back and forth to bathroom and snacks. We made it work and had a wonderful time! We loved swimming and jumping off the raft. Each kid even caught a fish! Thank you.

The vacation we needed
We just returned from spending the week on crystal lake and we could not be happier with the experience we had. Jean and Marty were great all week from the welcome on saturday to the boat ride they gave my daughters around the lake on Thursday. the accommodations were perfect and it is so quiet and peaceful at crystal lake we were all able to just let go of the daily grind and relax for the week. I highly reccomend staying here and cant wait to return. Thank you both for making my family feel welcome

cozy, relaxing cottage- perfect getaway on a beautiful lake
Our family had a fantastic stay at this cottage on crystal lake. The owners were super nice people and we loved being able to walk out the door to the lake and use the kayaks and canoe. Lots of great hikes nearby with amazing views. The lake is beautiful, clean and so quiet and peaceful. Our kids said it was the best vacation ever!

Perfect getaway cottage
We were looking for a quaint cottage on a quiet lake. Jean and Marty's cottage fit the bill perfectly. The cottage was clean, comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. We thoroughly enjoyed the screened in porch with a view of the lake. We had our own dock that made launching our kayaks easy. We enjoyed sitting on the dock at the end of the day listening to the loons. Jean and Marty are terrific people and great hosts. They answered all our questions, made suggestions for things to do in the area and were very helpful with directions. We had a great week and look forward to doing it again.

Perfect Family Vacation
Our stay on Crystal Lake was everything we hoped it would be and more. Such a special and unique experience! We had 5 people -3 kids (ages 7, 9 and 11), and a dog. The cabin was snug as expected, but it was perfect – very clean, and had everything we needed for the week. The location was perfect, and the lake was absolutely gorgeous – the water was crystal clear and so peaceful. The dock was ours for the week, as were the kayaks, canoe and sailboat. We swam, fished, kayaked, ran, biked, hiked, grilled, played card games, read, and relaxed. We turned the tv on one night for an hour so the kids could watch their favorite show, and never once did they ask for more. Almost a 100% unplugged week! Jean and Marty were wonderful – both helpful and accommodating, but also respectful of our privacy. They were more than happy to help us with anything we needed, and they were a wealth of knowledge about the lake and its history, hikes, restaurants, and the area in general. A week wasn’t nearly enough to cover all the exploring we wanted to do! Even our dog seems a little sad today…

Great NH Lake Camp
We had a fantastic time at this little gem. There were 5 of us in the cabin and while it was cozy, we found that the space was adequate. Gene and Marty were fantastic hosts. The lake was beautiful and relatively quite which isn't necessarily the rule on other neighboring lakes. My sons had fun catching panfish right off the dock and swimming out to the dock performing cannonball after cannonball. We look forward to coming back again.

Cozy cottage
We spent one week here on quiet Crystal Lake. The cottage was just right for the three of us and our dog. It is equipped with about everything you would need. There is a dock to sit on as well. The only thing missing was a Sandy beach to sit on but there is plenty of space to walk in or jump into the water from the dock. The owners were very accomodating.

Crystal Lake Getaway
We loved our time at Marty and Jean's cottage on their property in Crystal Lake NH. The days and nights were a little chilly, but the cottage was equipped with ample heating. Our puppy Charlie especially loved it. He was able to play with Caleb, the owners dog quite frequently. The trail in the woods was great for those early morning walks and the people residing on Crystal Lake were all very friendly. My son and I were able to take their canoe out on the lake to fish when it wasn't windy. Marty and Jean were very understanding as we had a very late arrival time due to some last minute hiccups. I would definitely recommend this property for a quiet getaway for relaxation. Only bummer was the inability to have a campfire at night.

Perfect family-friendly vacation on the lake!
This cozy cottage was perfect for our family of four! There is so much to do right at the cottage and we did it all. Just 25 yards outside the front door was a pristine lake where we kayaked, canoed, fished, swam and just relaxed and took in the sun or good book on our private dock. They have a grill for s'mores, volleyball net, badminton, darts in the yard where we and our teenage children played for hours. Jean and Marty, the owners, were so nice and always willing to help if we had any questions. They provided information and directions to hikes in the area, the covered bridge, shopping, and site seeing. We had planned to see Lake Winnipesaukee (25 minutes away) one day, but changed our mind when we realized we had everything we wanted right here. The cottage was super clean and cozy and equipped with everything needed to make home cooked meals. It had enough electrical outlets, internet, hot water, working tv, games, etc. We had a great time. We highly recommend it!

Great vacation week at the lake!
My husband and I and our sons had a great week on Crystal Lake!
If you're looking for a small cabin that's campy but comfortable, and you want to spend most of your week relaxing on a screened in porch, and enjoying the lake with all the things you can use that come with the rental (a canoe, two kayaks, a sail boat, inflatable rafts to float on the lake and a raft to dive off of), at a clean quiet lake, then this is the place for you!

My husband, 10 month old son and I stayed for a week at this quaint cottage. The three of us stayed in the bedroom that included the 3 twin beds. Jean & Marty provided us with a pack n' play for our son, which we set up in the back room with us. Jean even sent me pictures of the pack n' play all set up before our trip, to make sure it was what we were looking for. My parents stayed with us for a few nights, and they slept well in the room with the double bed. The kitchen/living area was big enough, with room for all of us to move around. The bathroom has a lot of storage for towels, belongings, etc. and the shower was much bigger than I expected. The screened in porch was a nice addition. We played games there at night, and also used it to store items.
The road was only busy on the weekend, as the boy scout camp down the road had drop-off for the week. The residents of the road post their own signs and "encourage" drivers to drive slow!
The beach area was nice, with a sandbox our son played in. There was also a picnic table and 2 Adirondack chairs that was exclusively for our use. The dock was solid, and was used a lot during the week to sunbathe. As others have mentioned, the lake is clear, and you can see to the bottom! We were allowed use of their kayaks and canoe, and used them often throughout the week with no issue. They simply ask you return the items when you are done- something you would do at your own home anyways!
We LOVED that Jean & Marty recycle! Sounds crazy, but when you do it so much at home, it is hard not to continue when renting a home. We have rented houses in the past, and are very disappointed when the landlords do not recycle.
Jean & Marty are very welcoming. We never felt in the way or bothersome as others have commented. They are always willing to help and answer questions. They checked in with us every few days to make sure everything was fine and we were doing well!
We recommend this cottage if you are looking to get away from it all (the cable tv and wifi are a nice though :) )! Very relaxing week for us!

Our family just spent a week at this gem of a spot on Crystal Lake. The cottage was perfect and had everything we needed for our family of 4 and 2 dogs. The screened porch off of the front of the cottage was our favorite spot to have dinner, play games, and spend time as a family - how could you not with such beautiful views. The lake was steps from the cottage and the dock provided the perfect spot to spend the day by the lake - we brought tubes, paddle boards and fishing gear. The country road between the cottage and the lake was perfect for biking and walks. We were comfortable allowing our 2 children - 12 & 14 to venture on their own. The owners, Marty and Jean live in the main house. They were attentive to all our needs, super friendly, and respected our privacy. Thank you Marty and Jean for your hospitality - we are all looking forward to coming back next summer!

When your 7 year old says at the end of your vacation "This was the best vacation ever!" A single mothers heart melts. (And we went to Disney last year) We spent our days, swimming in the crystal clear water every day! We fished, we boated, and took some short trips into town. It was just what we needed. The location was perfect to head into Alton Bay or Weirs beach if you wanted some excitement, then come come home and relax in peace and quiet!!!
The "camp" itself was perfect for us! We had 2 adults and a 7 year old boy at camp most of the week, and there was more then enough room. It wasn't a huge place, but you spend most of your day outside of camp, come home spread out on the porch with the water view, enjoy a beverage and play some games! The beds were comfortable for everyone and the cottage had everything you seemed to need in it! If you didn't, the owners were close by to ask! So the owners, Marty and Jean.... Yes there are in the main house right next door. I have certainly rented house on cape that the neighbors have been closer!! And certainly not as nice as these two!! They weren't intrusive at all!! They were there to answer questions as needed, but respected our space. But by the end of the week, I think my family gained two new friends.
Thank you Marty and Jean for sharing your awesome space with us!! Highly recommend to people!!!!

This property is a cabin on the grounds of a larger house. The owners occupy the larger house. In our case I had made a deposit on the cabin but had forgotten our checkbook. Our son was coming up the day after our arrival and I explained that I would call him and ask him to bring the checkbook. We were "reminded" several times during the day, and when my son said he would be coming in late, we were told that the owners weren't running a charity. Eventually this became so unpleasant that I went into town and used 3 accounts to pull the balance ($900+) in cash.
Unfortunately that wasn't the only issue. The wifi was hooked up incorrectly so there was no signal and even though I'm in the business, we were told it was correctly hooked up, somewhat testily. I fixed it and left it working.
Needless to say, walking past the owner's house to go to the beach (across the road) was unpleasant. We felt like barely tolerated annoyances. Will not be going back. That said, if you're their "type" the location is great, and the cabin OK.

Our week at the cottage was just perfect. Jean and Marty were the perfect hosts; there if you needed them, but not intrusive. The cottage was adorable - small but just right for a lakeside getaway. The lake was beautiful and the perfect temperature for swimming. Although there is a road between the cottage and the lake, we did not find it to be a problem at all. Our family of four (my husband, myself and our 9 yr old & 8 yr old) spent 1/2 our time fishing & swimming on the lake and the other 1/2 visiting the nearby sites like Mt. Washington and Wells Beach. It was the most peaceful and relaxing vacation we ever had. If a laid back vacation is what you're looking for, I'd highly recommend staying here.

We had a great time and will definately consider coming back to this camp. I grew up in NH so I was very familiar with all the wonderful things the region has to offer. Our time at this camp was an excellent way of sharing my love for NH with my children (17 and 20 yrs old). We enjoyed boating, cayaking, swimming, visiting the local hotspots on Lake Winnepeasaukee, scenic drives thru the mountains, and seeing local family, not to mention just relaxing reading on the dock and tanning. There are tons of day trips to do in the area. The camp is a little small for 4 adults (unless you get along as well as we do), but there's plenty of hot water for showers, and all the "essentials" (including pots for cooking corn on the cob, coffee maker, toaster, hair dryer, wifi, etc). I recommend this camp for people who like to spend their time outdoors. The camp is "rustic" and not very roomy, but it certainly has everything we needed. The pictures and description on this website are accurate. Jean and Marty are friendly and helpful and very accomodating (we had some special requests since we were flying into Boston). Even correspondance with them, before our trip, was professional and clear. I miss the lake already - ah, New Hampshire, "live free or die" !
Thank you, Jean and Marty, I think my 3 travel mates have also fallen in love with NH.

This cottage was a perfect getaway for our family. It was great having the owners on site to assist as needed. The scenery is absolutely beautiful, the cottage itself was perfect for our family of 4. The docks were great to use and hang out/fish on, the kids enjoyed playing in the beach area - less sand than we thought, but there is a beach right down the street if you need/want it. We enjoyed sitting on the dock after the kids were in bed watching the sunset! (Only had 2 issues of the whole trip, wifi was not working very well for us and our 2 year old did not like showers, just make note of no tub :-) Would definitely visit again, it was a wonderful, quiet and relaxing getaway!

This cottage is a gem in so many ways.
The building is located on the same property as the owners house, but the cottage is very private. It is separated from the main living quarters of the house by a large lilac bush.. The owners are always available but never intrusive. They freely offered their wide variety of boats and answered every question that we had about the surrounding area. They are so friendly and easygoing that it is wonderful fun to hang out with them if you want.
The cottage itself is simple, but completely adequate in every way. The water from the tap tasted very good, and the hot water for showers was plentiful. There is a line out back to hang towels. We brought our own press pot, though there was a drip coffee maker available. There are plenty of plates and cups, and many pots and pans which we found sufficient to our needs, though if your happiness is dependent on specific gourmet cooking gear, you should probably pack some of your own. If you prefer to eat out, all of the entertainments of Lake Winnepesaukee are within a half an hour's drive, and there is a pizza place in town about 10 minutes away.
There is a quiet road that separates the cabin from the waterfront, but the road is not busy, and there is ample visibility for completely safe crossing at all times. We did not find the road to be any impediment to our enjoyment of the cottage or the lake. I really loved taking morning walks along the road, and it is perfect for joggers and bikers.
This is a cottage for people who love the water--swimming and boating. We spent most of our week in or around the water. The swimming is completely fantastic. There are two docks and a float. One of the docks is private to the cottage dwellers, and one is for the main house, but the owners don't mind at all if you use their dock, and they have a fun little trampoline at the end that kids love jumping off from. It is a very short swim out to the float which offers additional jumping and diving fun. The bottom is sandy, and nice on the bottom of bare feet. There are no reeds or muddy areas at all. The mornings are calm and perfect for kayaking or waterskiing, and the afternoons offer just enough breeze for sunfish sailing.
We had a perfectly fun and restful vacation and hope to stay here again in the future.
