About this bed and breakfast
Tegwans Nest, is a recently renovated and redecorated spacious country holiday home nestled in the beautiful rolling hills of Balingup with a modern yet country classic fee;, open airy living areas, cosy log fire, expansive veranda with breathtaking views, and a promise of rest and relaxation.
Be it relaxing with a glass of red, soaking it all in, 'a chat' to the Alpacas, or simply taking long bush walks in the nearby natural forests, there is plenty to do and see.
The House
An expansive veranda across the front of the house, sweeping views of the valley, you are greeted by a spacious living area with pool table, a classic dining room, character woodfire, and stunning views.
Be it healthies, arties, spiritual groups, foodies, walkers, birdies, cyclists, or reunions, all groups have a home at Tegwan's Nest.
The house is rated as 8 guests max as a comfortable size, but can take 10 given there are 5 bedrooms (all queens), 2 at one end of the house, with a private lounge and TV, a brand new bathroom and guest toilet.
At the other end of the house there are 3 rooms, a brand new bathroom (with stylish stand alone bath, shower and toilet) and a new fully equipped laundry. Your comfort is well catered for by a wood fire for Winter, electric blankets, AC for Summer, and ceiling fans. The large well-equipped kitchen has a double door fridge-freezer, bar fridge, microwave, oven, dishwasher and sizeable pantry.
(NOTE there is an extra cleaning and linen surcharge of $100 per booking for more than 6 guests)
Stepping out on to the wrap-around veranda, there is a pizza oven, BBQ and relaxing loungers to soak in the view as well as our resident mob of 30-40 kangaroos.
All essential items including linen and towels are provided. Tea / coffee included, with a Lavazza coffee machine and none other than pure rainwater to drink and shower in.
There are cards, Lego, activities and board games, as well as a TV with a DVD player and DVD library. Free unlimited broadband too (Starlink).
The Farm
With 20 acres between the 2 properties, you can feed the Alpaca's, give the sheep a scratch, fruit trees and vines in the orchard, the abundant bird life (60 species) including the elusive Blue Wren and chattering Kookaburra calls, and there are amazing varieties of wild flowers in season. To top it off, an evening stroll to the top of the hill is the perfect sundowner spot under the Karri Trees or the rocky outcrops.
Things to do and see in the area
Only a few minutes drive from Balingup, part of the Blackwood River Valley, there are specialty shops, local vineyards, a lavender oil farm, restaurants (offering Paleo, Organic, Vegan, and other family meals), and the famous Bibbulmun Track nearby. Try the Golden Valley Tree Park, or the historic Greenbushes mining town with a natural outdoor swimming pool. Take a leisurely drive to Bridgetown 20 mins away, or further afield to Margaret River, Manjimup and Busselton all within an hour. Famous for all our farming, music, arts and medieval festivals, check in with the tourist centre for more info.
For the true outdoorsy activity types, there is golf, tennis, squash, mountain bike trails, 4x4 trails, horse-riding trails, forest trails, and all the other trails we probably can't think of!
Getting to Tegwan's Nest
Balingup is 237km South of Perth, 2.5 hours drive, use Google Maps not Wayz, just far enough to know that you have gone somewhere special...
Other things to note

This was a great getaway for us three of different ages. Our elderly aunt loved the alpacas, feeding them was the highlight of her stay . We loved the house , the kitchen had everything we needed, the verandah was well used with great views. The location was perfect for us. It was a very relaxing stay and we had access to the owners if needed. They were very accommodating without being intrusive.

Rural stopover
A lovely home full of rustic charm with fantastic views and lots of close up contact with the local wildlife.
We enjoyed a very relaxing stay watching birds, sheep, alpacas and a kangaroo from the extensive verandah. Feeding the alpacas was great fun, they are amusing creatures.
There are plenty of walks and sights to visit in the area, we enjoyed just driving around looking at the scenery.
The house was comfortable and well equipped and the owners were very friendly and responded promptly to our queries.
There were several cafes and restaurants in the area so eating out is not an issue.
All in all a very enjoyable experience.

Beautiful house with a great balcony. Welcoming and homely. Heaps of space and relaxing.
We had a lovely stay. It was very relaxing and tranquil. Great activity packs for the kids, the alpacas were fun (even though we were spat on... very entertaining!) We also loved the worm farm and pet frogs. The treasure hunt was great too. Clean and lots of extras eg high chair, porta cot and shower products.
We will be back!
