About this house rental
Summary:
Nestled in a quiet cul-de-sac, 2 minutes walk to Horseshoe Bay, Flying Fish Cafe, the main street of Port Elliot (The Strand) and everything the town has to offer, this holiday retreat is like no other in Port Elliot.
Arty and eclectic and a great beach side feel in a perfect location - secluded but central to so much - this property is perfect for those who want a beach holiday that feels like a beach holiday.
The property is split over two modules, featuring the following compact but well-designed layout:
Main House:
On entry you are greeted by the open plan living and kitchen area. The kitchen includes under bench fridges, microwave with browning facility, cook top, and sink. (Please note that there is no oven; however there is a Weber Q BBQ which can be used as an oven). The living area has comfy lounge chairs, TV, split system heating and cooling and a wide selection of books, games and music. A wood combustion heater is great for winter stays. Large windows and a door open onto to one of the many sitting spots surrounded by lush green gardens.
Screened from the living room, is the master with double bed. A second bedroom with a single bed and a child’s bunk is located off the kitchen area. The bathroom with toilet, shower and vanity completes the main house.
Guest Retreat:
The private guest retreat is separate from the main house and linked to it by a generous deck and pergola. The combined living and bedroom area includes lounges, TV, and split system heating and cooling. With two single beds and a sofa bed, it is a great room for a second couple or kids to enjoy. A newly renovated second bathroom includes shower, toilet, basin and laundry facilities.
The surrounds of the property are enchanting, with ample outdoor areas, including an outdoor table on the deck, BBQ area, an outdoor fireplace and some lovely spots to sit and read, or relax in the sun.
This unique property really is the perfect holiday getaway in one of the best locations in Port Elliot.
It is for people who want to have their beach holidays in a laid back garden setting, not for those expecting 5 star hotel luxury and opulence. This property offers a different sort of luxury ….for those who prefer something with individuality and a sense of place.

Had a blast. The property is very very charming. And clean and comfy.
I do recommend.

Great spot. This is not really a house though, it's a small shack + extra granny flat. Cool vibes. "Lounge chairs" are small and uncomfortable. The bathroom is nicely done. Kitchen sink is small but useable. 2 burner stove only. Fridges worked fine. Kids enjoyed separate room.
Main shack smelled quite musty - never got used to it. Sadly we discovered and killed about 6 cockroaches between the shack and and guest house. Kids were too tall for the beds.
The location is cool. I feel like it could be nice if just cleaned up and decluttered a bit. But that's the vibe. Sitting in those little recliners was really uncomfortable. Had to clean the seats of debris/bugs before sitting.
Driveway branches need cutting back - hard to park vehicle without foilage hitting roof. Nice outdoor garden, shaded.
Mixed feelings about this place, sorry. Love the location still, and it has some soul and vibe about it.

A fabulous spot with a short walk into Pt Elliott town, even shorter stroll to the beach, rustic house, lovely garden, quiet no through road, next to train line to see cockle train go by, great for kids, (perfect if you dont need glam)

Great property in a great location. Perfect place for a family with older children because of the seperate accommodation for kids

Not the property we expected.

Quirky or Untidy??
Main "bedroom" is cramped, no space for suitcases apart from the floor of the lounge. 2 small fridges at knee height - kneel to get stuff in and out. Microwave at knee height - ditto. Your quirky is my untidy. Half filled jars and bottles of the owner's stuff leave little space for our groceries and other food. No oven, only 2 hot plates. Lighting is inadequate if you wish to read in the evenings - unless you sit at the table, then there's only space for 2 readers.

Full of character with lovely garden setting
This is a cosy house, full of character with a lovely and well thought out garden. There's lots of nice spots to sit outside, including an outdoor wood heater, which is a bonus.
The location is fantastic with a short walk to both beach and main street.
The separate building would be perfect for a kids' retreat, or another couple, and is bright and airy.
However there are some downfalls for this rental. We actually felt like the owner had just moved out so we could stay, including toothbrushes in the bathroom cupboard under the basin. A few clothing items and a pair of thongs, together with a used fitted sheet was in the master bedroom wardrobe. This probably wouldn't concern everyone, but I guess it wasn't what we were expecting.
There are also two things to note which aren't clearly specified. One is that there is no traditional oven. There is however a medium sized Webber Q and a microwave (apparently with browning features) so we made do. Also, the bunk bed is extremely narrow and only suitable for a child, ie not a regular single bed. I think this needs to be stated.
Newspaper or firelighters supplied would have been good as it was extremely hard to get the wood heaters lit, although we got there in the end.
This property would be great for some but not for others. It depends on what your expectations are.

Quirky and great
We had a great time. The property was perfect for us as the kids took over the 'Den' whilst my husband and I had the peace and quiet of the main part of the property. It was quirky and great. We could walk to the bakery and main street, as well as Horseshoe Bay. A great weekend away.

Unusual, fun and relaxing
Great location, quick walk to the beach and the centre of town. The street was very quiet and private.
Our children enjoyed their own space in the separate living area/room, it was very roomy and comfortable.
