The cabin was clean and comfortable but is very rustic and dated. We spent most of our time outdoors so the dated and worn appearance didn’t bother us. The back deck provides wonderful views of wildlife…I am pretty sure I watched them pull up a lobster from our “backyard”. The dock offered tremendous fishing. My husband and son caught dozens of mackerel daily and my daughter caught a huge striper! My kids loved exploring the rocky beach area and tide pools for hours. There’s lots to do nearby in Boothbay and Grimes Point beach is just a few minutes away. The only downside about the area is that all the restaurants are super expensive so we spent a lot of time at the Hannaford picking up groceries and cooking at the cabin. We had a great stay in Maine and our favorite time was spent at the cabin. We never wanted to leave!

First, I would I like to say Vacasa is amazing to work with they helped us out tremendously. Also, always get travel insurance.
Now, for the part I honestly wish I didn’t have to write a review about.
I was sooo excited when I seen this cabin and I snatched it up as quick as I could. The pictures were beautiful that were showed. But to me that did not depict the inside of the house.
We got there I had an uneasy feeling. Was told we could come early because the cleaning crew had gotten there early. I’m honestly not sure if there is even one. Lots of Bugs on ceiling in bathroom, cobwebs in windows that could have easily been dusted by supposed cleaning crew I don’t even want to talk about the mattress pads.
As my family was looking around the property at various things. I was inside and boy was I in for a surprise. I seen the neat benches at the table that had a built in storage area and i reached over the table to look at the other side and when I did there was a cockroach not just a cockroach but a jumping one. And if you see 1 of those things there are 100s of them throughout the home. I also am aware that it’s a cabin and there will be bugs but I’m not ok with cockroaches those things spread like wildfire
Needless to say we left immediately. If I could give the accuracy of the home and cleanliness a 0 I would. We were thankfully able to get all of our money back.
We ended up at a cute little inn in the town. The shops were amazing everyone was so nice.

We LOVED the Sailor's Cabin. It was just as pictured in the listing. Beds were comfortable and cabin was well stocked with plenty of towels and kitchen equipment. We loved sitting on the deck and enjoying the view. Loved watching the birds and even saw a seal swim by a few times. Cabin is rustic, but we loved this!

Truly a log cabin in the woods - peaceful, comfortable, clean, great way to sit back and enjoy nature.

Needs a deep cleaning maybe once a month. Dropped something under the couch n had to pull it out. Very dirty. Spider webs thick. Fireplace was full of ash. No wood.

Great location! Beautiful views! Just understand this is a cabin. Nothing more, nothing less. While the location and views are amazing there are many things that could be updated in the cabin. Outlets are old and not very secure. BBQ is not a full size but a small table top. Microwave has the wrong turntable in it, so it makes clunking noises. Also you will need to make sure no food is left out, we had a mouse visit the counters every night. This is definitely a beautiful spot, really just needs a few upgrades and it would be amazing!

We had a fantastic stay at the cabin in Boothbay. Fantastic location at the end of a 'peninsula' that was wraparound water views. The cabin is very old, but beautiful and in great shape. Everything that we needed was there for us and we were very comfortable. Due to the age of the cabin (not a lot of insulation/protection from the elements), it was a little dusty and we saw a few small bugs that were easy to relocate back outside. We did have a need to contact someone local, and we did not have any luck. No one contacted us to make sure we got into the property and offer assistance, so we had no connection to someone if we really needed help. We called the Vacasa line that was available on the listing and followed the prompts for assistance with not being able to access the property. We were on hold for over 30 minutes before we hung up when we found the lost key. This was on the last day, but could have been an issue if we had a real need for assistance and did not have any humans to assist us during the stay.

Quintessential Maine Cabin!!!
Had a wonderful week at Sailor’s Cabin! It is full of all the Maine charm with a beautiful view of the water. The cabin is located at the end of a peninsula, so it offers both great privacy and views. Easy access to downtown from this location as well. Peter was a great host and so responsive to all our questions. Definitely would recommend for a authentic Maine experience!!!

The location. It would be nice if the trees in front of the cabin were cut down to have a much better view of the surrounding.

Nice cabin, our daughters loved playing the board games and exploring the rocky areas next to the water, especially at low tide. The cabin was clean and the outdoor deck was relaxing to sit on.

Awesome Location!!!
This was a perfect place for our family to unwind and reconnect! The cabin itself is pushing 100 years old and it oozes with history. We discovered all of this by exploring the cabin and noticing the details about it. We felt as if we had stepped back in time to simpler days while staying here. It was wonderful.
We read aloud by the fire at night. We rented kayaks and hiked. We spent most of the rest of our time on the deck, the dock, and on the rocks, or by the fireplace at night. We bought baked goods from the local fire station fundraising sale. We sampled the General Store. We tried to take it all in.
The views are amazing! We watched the lobster fishermen check their traps, enjoyed the sunsets and all the wildlife. We saw seals, a bald eagle, herons, and all sorts of other water birds right from the deck. It is a nature lover’s paradise.
This cabin is a very special place. It is rustic, however, and you need to expect that going in. Beds are very comfortable, but living room furniture is a futon and some older chairs. It might be nice to update this furniture to some more comfortable seating.
We are blessed to have spent some time here, adding to the memories that many have made here before us. Thank you.

Quiet getaway week oasis
This is truly a cabin in the woods. It is a rustic cabin but comfortable and well appointed. You will have everything you need, but it isn't fancy. All of the appliances work, the place is clean and tidy, the beds are comfortable and there seemed to be plenty of hot water. The location is convenient to E Boothbay, and Boothbay, especially if you have a boat. The deck on house was a perfect place to have coffee in the morning, and a glass a wine for the sunset. The wildlife and lobster boats provided plenty of entertainment. The deep water dock was nice perk, and we were visited by friends with all sizes of boats who remarked at the nice feature. I can't wait to go back!

A great week at Sailor's Cabin
Rustic and charming cottage in a beautiful, private setting. Would love to stay here again the next time we head to Maine.

Remember, it’s RUSTIC - VERY rustic but beautiful landscapes.
This place is on an absolutely gorgeous piece of property complete with a fishing dock, awesome rocks/landscaping and we found lots of sea glass.
With that being said, the interior - we weren’t exactly expecting. It has many openings/cracks through the floors. Like, you can actually see the grass growing through them. In less than 24 hrs of being there, we saw mice. Very tiny, but mice just the same. Understanding that the place is rustic, is key to having an enjoyable experience. The owner of the property happened to stop by and I made him aware and he is going to do his best to get rid of the mice issue. While it was infested with mice (we set out three traps and a mouse was found within 2 hrs all three times), the place is actually very clean. It does have lots of character.
So basically, if you’re looking for a hotel type experience - keep searching. If you want an authentic Maine campsite type time - this is the place for you!
I’ll also add that we left early because of my fear of rodents, but the owner happily refunded us for the time lost and was very apologetic about the issue.
I give it a 5 star rating because you definitely get the full Maine experience here on the beautiful property. And the issues weren’t ones that could have been helped since the owner was unaware.

Perfect spot for us
We could have spent the whole week hanging out on the deck, but as tempting as that was, we did have some great adventures during out week. We spent a day on Monhegan Island, kayaked, hiked, and enjoyed outdoor decks at Boothbay Harbor restaurants. As fun as all of that was, we always looked forward to coming back to the cabin for sunsets. We saw seals, eagles, loons, Great Blue Heron and other wildlife from the deck. The cabin has much rustic charm. You could tell families have made some great memories there. Thank you for enabling us to make some new ones!

Wonderful stay, too short
We had a wonderful time staying at the Sailor's Cabin. It is a beautiful log cabin, with great charm and very clean!! What a spot, from the deck you can watch great blue herons eat, terns diving for fish, seals chasing schools of fish, and we even got to see the shy harbor porpoises one day. The view is spectacular, watching the lobster boats check their traps and other boats go by and yet it is peaceful and quiet with wonderful breezes. We will definitely be going back to visit. Thank you to the owners for sharing this great vacation spot. Cindy & Mick

Perfect spot to kick back, relax and unwind
We loved how secluded and tranquil the location was. The cabin was perfect. Rustic and cozy with so much character. So charming we all fell in love with it. You can't beat those ocean views. We were greeted with a storm which made it even more magical. Wonderful days spent on the porch and outdoors. Soothing nights by the crackling fire. Kitchen equipped with everything you might need and lots of games, movies and books for entertainment. Can't wait to be back
· Our only complaint was not being able to have a longer stay. It was all perfect.

A quiet getaway place
We stayed here for 8 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. Beautiful sunset every day and they were all different and dramatic. The place is remote, very peaceful and quiet. However, we were able to drive to everything between Portsmouth and Bar Harbor without a problem. It's a cabin in the woods a stone throw next to a big body of water. A lot of activities can be had around the house, on the dock, and in the water. Go fishing when you see groups of birds sky-diving into the water and also you can see big fish chasing small fish. We caught a lot of fish that way. Birds, seals and even the lobster boats are fun to watch. We love this cabin and enjoyed our stay.

Not as advertised
Nothing more than a wooden tent, it was cold and NO heat. Doors and windows don’t lock, had to put electrical tape over open cracks in the floor to keep out bugs, stuffed windows with paper towels to keep wind from rattling windows and keep stir out. Got up freezing and the coffee pot didn’t work. I have never paid so much for a camp site 🙁😡🥵 left after 1st night. NO refund offered for 2nd or 3rd night

Anniversary Get-away
My husband and I rented this beautiful cabin to get away and celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary. This location is very peaceful with beautiful sites and scenery. The cabin was immaculate and ready for us when we showed up. We got to enjoy the fireplace due to the chilly Spring weather. This was the perfect mix of a true cabin with all the amenities of home. I would definitely recommend anybody who's wanting to get away from the craziness of life and just relax!

Wonderful week in charming cabin
We stayed a week in this magical cabin in East Boothbay. It is rustic, but had everything we needed and more. Wonderful private location with views of the water, sailboats, schooners and lobster fishermen. Comfy bed, great kitchen and bath, wifi and cable tv for rainy days. Close to everything. Would love to return. Thank you.

Just spent a terrific week at this property with two adults and four kids ages 8 to 12.
Loved the rustic cabin feel with big working fireplace, dutch doors, windows looking right onto the water, nice big dining tables both indoors and on front deck, and plenty of seating throughout. Very comfortable queen bed in the master, and no complaints from the kids about the beds in their room. Ample kitchen space, fully functioning and well ventilated.
Outside property very nice overall, with ability to walk along entire point of peninsula. At high tide caught mackeral and pollock and crabs (and almost got a lobster!), saw passing seals, and jumped off the dock for cool swims. At low tide explored the slippery rocks (seaweed!) in water shoes.
Two minor industrial drawbacks that need to be disclosed but in my opinion are also well factored into the price: across the cove and up river a bit there's a (1) consistent dull humming sound from the Bigelow Science Lab, and (b) mild eyesore in the big blue Washburn & Doughty shipbuilding facility (unfortunately the first/only thing seen through the trees as you approach the property by car).
Finally, and coming back to the bigger positives, our host Ken was super helpful driving two hours round-trip on a Friday night to fix a minor plumbing issue (thanks again, Ken!).
