About this apartment rental
Nestled in a secluded location, with views of Elizabeth harbour, Stocking Island, and the Ocean, this two-bedroom home sits gently within its natural surroundings.
For those returning to Exuma you will already appreciate the convenience of its location. A ten-minute walk to the beach, and only a five-minute drive to Fish Fry and Georgetown, where you will find everything that you will require to enjoy your vacation.
The apartment is on the ground floor of Da Sugar House, and Steve the owner is based on site should you have any issues, or simply need a friendly face for some advice on where to visit.
The property has been fully updated over the past year and is a very comfortable place to base your time from while here in Exuma.
There are two double bedrooms with brand new A/C units, and cable TV. There is a new kitchen with full sized appliances and all the pots pans and utensils that you could require. There is also a Nespresso coffee machine for those of you who need to start your day with a great cup of coffee (you will need to bring your own capsules as they are expensive on island and not always available). There is also a washing machine and dryer on site which you are welcome to use.
To the rear of the house you have your own private covered deck area, and stairs leading down to the new large rear deck that includes a whirlpool tub that can hold four adults. The deck is bathed in sunshine from sunrise until sunset, but there is always an area of shade for those who prefer to be out of the sun.
Being located on the North side of the island there is usually a lovely breeze off the Atlantic which keeps the temperature comfortable, and the bugs at bay!
A car is recommended as it is the most convenient and best value way of getting around the island. There is off street parking at Da Sugar House.
There is now an inflatable two person kayak (Including securing straps to mount on your car roof), and a mountain bike.
Also for stays of 7 nights or longer I will be giving you two Stainless Steel Sippy Cups to use, and take home with you. These help you to stay safe while out during the day at bars and restaurants, reduce plastic waste on island, and keep your drink cool.
Da Sugar House dog is called Flo. She is a six year old female potcake (island dog), that I rescued in 2018. She is very friendly and loving, and simply adores people.
Please feel free to contact me about any questions you may have (if it's important to you, it's important to me for you to know the answer), as I want to ensure that Da Sugar House lives up to your expectations, and that you have an incredible vacation experience while you stay here in Exuma.

We enjoyed our short vacation at Exuma Da Sugar House very much. Steve is an excellent host, he helped us with all the questions and needs we had. The house had everything we needed and more.

Everything was just perfect.
However the added value was Steve (the host), always ready to give you the right tips to visit the island.
We had so much great time at Da Sugar House that we would definitely come back again.

We just spent the most relaxing week at Da Sugar House and loved our stay. Steve, Flo and Charlie (the dogs) were wonderful hosts. Steve picked us up at the airport, provided plenty of information on restaurants, activities, and more.
The accommodation was perfect for us with comfortable beds, spacious bedrooms and we loved having our coffee on the deck in the morning.
Steve, thanks for a great stay and hope to be back another time!

Quaint, clean, comfortable, off beaten path but not to far from the beautiful beaches
Steve was an awesome host. Made sure to accommodate us in answering our questions on restaurants, beaches, tours etc. He went above and beyond to make sure our stay was enjoyable. The apartment below Steve’s home was well supplied with everything you need. The beds are very comfortable. We do suggest getting a rental car to get to any of the beaches, restaurants or town.

Our best vacation rental experience to date
I feel like my boyfriend and I are in a unique position review-wise because we split our time on Exuma between Hideaways and Da Sugar House (in that order). The reason we split our time was that we were worried about being too far from restaurants, bars, stores, etc. in George Town, and because we wanted to be close to the beach (Steve's place is on the opposite side of the highway, a short distance up a hill). If we could go back and change anything, however, we would stay with Steve at Da Sugar House for our entire stay.
First and foremost, Steve is the kindest, most helpful and resourceful host I've ever stayed with. We were blown away by his knowledge of the area / island, his willingness to share, and how out of his way he went to make sure we had the best time on Exuma. He reached out to me as soon as I booked with a ton of useful info (that I later referenced throughout our trip), and answered any questions I had immediately (including finding the closest liquor store selling bourbon and sending me a photo of their selection). When we were overserved at the fish fry and missed the tour we'd signed up for the next morning, he helped us find and arrange alternative plans (which ended up being our favorite day of the entire trip). I'm generally apprehensive about asking anything of hosts because I don't want to be a pain in the ass, but I recommend asking him anything because his knowledge and recommendations are ON POINT.
Because our first accommodations were pretty bare bones, it was such a relief to get to Steve's and find everything we could need (in particular because we'd already experienced the difficultly of finding certain things on Exuma): sunscreen, toilet paper, dish soap, snorkels (the newer models, too), beach chairs, umbrellas, ice, and a fridge stocked with beer, and more. This was a huge luxury and a kindness that saved us a lot of time and money.
I quickly saw that my reservations about staying on the hill side of the highway were wrong. Staying on the ocean side meant basically being on the highway. Staying at Da Sugar House (a five minute drive up the hill) was quiet and serene but still as close to stores, bars, etc. At night the deck outside our rooms was the perfect place to watch the stars, and waking up in the morning with the birds and trees was so peaceful.
I rarely write reviews, but this was a truly special stay. Do not sleep on Da Sugar House.

Our stay at Da sugar house was the most amazing rental experience we ever had.
It’s a really nice house, fully equipped, very clean and super quiet.
The parking is on the site and you can park at any time.
In the kitchen, in the bathroom, if you are going to the beach...... or whatever you want to do.... You will find everything you need and much more !
Outside there is a cozy place to have a drink and a covered area with a barbecue and a table.
it is gorgeous and you can see the SPA inside the tropical forest.
Steve the owner, is such a nice person and a great host who helped us in so many ways.
Every single tips he gave us were really helpful and perfect to help us to organise our stay on the island.
As we are not English speakers, Steve even helped us to booked some tours and to take the appointment for the Covid 19 test.
Thank You Steve for helping us having such wonderful holidays.

A perfect holiday
We stayed at Sugar House in early March. Since our arrival Steve has put us at ease, explaining everything we needed to know about the house in detail. Even throughout our stay Steve has always been very helpful, he explained to us almost daily where to find what we needed and gave us very precise reviews on the beaches and restaurants (which he practically knows everyone).
Thank you so much Steve for this experience, we hope to see you again soon.

Heaven exists
What about......we really loved Exuma and the merit has also been of Steve, accurate and precise host without being intrusive! Da sugar house it's better live, the "garden" is exciting and the real landlady, Flo, is the best! :) We already missed everything so much, thank you Steve!

Da Sugar House, Exuma, Bahamas
Da Sugar was exactly what we were looking for, secured, restful, quiet. The manager, Steve, has thought about everything we needed. Shower cap, needle and thread, bug spray, cooking out on the beach, beach umbrella, air-conditioning, everything. He was very responsive to any requests and yet unobtrusive. We would definitely stay there again.

Very homey guesthouse with very local feel
We had a great stay at Da Sugar House. The appartment was very spacious with a great porch overlooking the garden and just had everything we needed (including a Nespresso machine :-) :-))! We felt very much at home and Steve was a wonderfull host. He did everything he could to make our stay, even it was just a few days, as comfortable as possible, including many many local tips! :-)
Very recommendable!

We couldn’t have asked for a more awesome and helpful host-thanks, Steve! The suite had everything we needed and was only a few minute drive from town and a super nice beach. Flo, the rescue dog, is an absolute sweetheart. If we ever go back to Bahamas, we’d definitelt stay again.

Perfect location and helpful recommendations
We stayed 9 days at Steve's place and left with zero complaints and wonderful memories! Steve was attentative to our needs before we even arrived and was more than accomodating when we got there! Although this was not beach front property, it was in a perfect location near two public access spots, market, and plenty of restaurants. Being in Georgetown was the perfect location that allowed us to explore each side of the Island with a relatively short drive. Steve was more than helpful with awesome recommendations for resturaunts, excursions, and companies to contact, and even provided us some beer and espresso! We found all our beach needs (umbrella, snorkeling masks, coolers, and towels) that helped us with our numerous beach excursions. I already miss relaxing on hammock with the perfect breeze and occasional visit from his loving dog Flo!
Thanks again Steve, we loved your place!

Paradise on Exuma
We stayed at Da Sugar House for two nights, the only problem was that it wasn’t long enough. From the moment we arrived we simply loved everything about the place. Both inside and outside was perfect, it’s like a little peace of paradise, where you can find peace and harmony.
On top of that, the host Steven was unbelievable friendly and helpful in every matter.
We would love to return one day and we would highly recommend this lovely place to everyone, who travel to Exuma.

Living like a local
Exzuma is a new island for me. This was my first visit. Steve helped me feel right at home. He provided insight into things rarely written about in the tourist guidebooks. He even went out of his way to introduce me to the locals in the area.

Lovely apartment. Perfect position
Da Sugar House was perfect. Cosy, safe, comfy, near Georgetown and the brilliant beaches (5mins) and Fish Fry the rocking food and jump up village. We hired a motor boat and spent days at the best beach bar in the Bahamas: the Chat and Chill.
The owner is so welcoming.
We will be back.
