Had me at babbling brook, which you can hear at night through the bedroom window. Add a great kitchen, open airy layout, and lovely host. The fire pit overlooking the stream. We didn’t want to leave.

Great choice for a quiet and refreshing getaway.

My sister-in-law and I decided to have a girls weekend and this was the perfect place. We both love nature so we wanted to get immersed in it as much as possible. Being streamside was amazing! As soon as I arrived, I sat out by the stream listening to nature and reading a book for quite a while. I totally wasn't expecting 2 sets of chairs and a fire pit out by the stream so that was an awesome surprise. Then we either did a nightly dip or a morning cold plunge in the stream. I honestly wish I could do that every day! The house was a great little place and had all the things we need. Bring your own water to drink though. There is a tap for drinking water, but it's very slow. We met Ian and Sylvia one night while we were out on a creek walk and they were lovely! I couldn't have asked for friendlier people to host us. And I was so thankful that Ian gave me his cell number for any questions. Without his help, one of our days would've been a little more chaotic than we would've liked. We'd definitely like to come back again in the future. It was perfect!

My wife and I came with our 5 year old son for our 10 year wedding anniversary from Ontario to spend time in the Catskills. Streamside was perfect for us. Ian was super communicative with information of things to do and places to eat before we got there so we could plan. He checked in on us while we were there and made sure we were comfortable. The swimming hole and the river itself was stunning. Our kid had a blast playing in it. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed. I would highly recommend streamside for anyone looking to get away from it all. We’ll be back for sure.

A lovely cabin in a stunning setting by the creek. Ian was the perfect host. Would definitely stay again.

Ian is kind and hospitable.
Place has a good amount of space and has cool features like fire stove

We had a great time staying in the Vrbo - it’s a beautiful home and wasn’t too difficult to find. We were only there for a weekend but the house had everything we needed. Would certainly recommend if you’re looking for a place to stay in the Hudson Valley area.
Only criticism I have is that the bed was slightly too firm for my preference. Other than that an awesome time!

Very clean, comfortable and convenient cabin condo with streamside access. The wood-burning stove was a plus. The host Ian was super accessible and accommodating. Would love to come again.

I'd like to say BIG thank you to Ian! He is very friendly and attentive host! It was very comfortable to communicate with him and solve any encountered problems. Our young ones enjoy very much the trail to the creek and good viewing point at the end of it. Oh, and hummingbird, which we could watch right from the window!

A boost of nature and relaxation. Clean and quiet.

I wish I could give this property more than five stars. The sound of the nearby stream lulling us to sleep at night was a dream come true. Everything was perfect except for a bit of trouble we had with our car halfway through our stay, but the host, Ian, absolutely went above and beyond the call of duty to help us out with that. He is truly an amazing host! Thank you, Ian!

Given the abundance of positive reviews, I was looking forward to my stay at Streamside, and also curious about how well the experience might match up to my expectations. I can only say that from the call of the first rose breasted grosbeak to the sound of the raging creek (filled by the same storm that dumped all that rain on Vermont) I was never once disappointed. After a day of repeatedly visiting the creek, it was fun to come back and work on my laptop at an authentic diner table and seat. Everything is clean and designed for ease of use. The propane grill is right outside your door and then it is a super short walk down to a sitting area/patio beside a freshet that leads into the creek beside the super shady and private backyard, and then only about 50 more paces across a tiny quaint footbridge to the banks of the lovely Esopus Creek. No picture can depict what a wonderful property this is or how restorative it is to hang out by the water in these mountains. The creek is ideal for a cooling-off wallow and there are comfortable chairs right there along the shore. The hosts are as accommodating as they are intelligent and kind. The place was busy with birds during my stay- I was happy to see American Redstart, Ruby Throated Hummingbird, Northern Waterthrush, Veery and Black Throated Blue Warbler among many others. So In the end does this experience live up to the sterling reviews? No. The experience is far better. Thank you for a terrific experience.

The property is a little way from the town but has all you need to self cater.
It was a comfortable place to stay with the bonus of a little spot on the river where you can soak!
* there was no AC (which was listed in description) so it was a little hot, that was the only drawback.

Wonderful stay over Thanksgiving week, very thoughtful and thorough preparation by Ian.
Cozy with woodfire and beautiful setting, hiked every day and coming back felt like home. Very peaceful

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay here. Plenty of room and just a couple of minutes drive to town (or hamlet to be accurate). The town has something for all your needs, just not much choice for any one need.
I'm no decorator but I'd call it rustic with a funky flair. We didn't try to use wifi calling on our cell phone but for regular use the wifi worked fine. We followed the request of leaving our shoes in the entryway and walking around in socks and slippers in the house, same as some of our friends back home.
Our timing was perfect for the fall colors, hit them right at the peak. One of the unexpected treats was the ride on the Rail Explorers excursion. This was a pedaling ride on special carts along an abandoned section of railroad track, great fun.

Streamside was lovely. We didn’t want to leave. Ian was an excellent host! The grounds are beautiful and it’s a short walk to the stream. The perfect place to enjoy morning coffee or a happy hour cocktail. The accommodations were perfect for us. It was clean, the kitchen was great. We even made a fire one evening. Will definitely return!!

The residence exceeded our expectations! Description and pictures accurate. Cozy environment and beautiful property creekside.
Ian was very welcoming and checked on us periodically during our stay to see if we needed anything.
Would absolutely recommend this property!

Beautiful property, description in the listing is right on point. Nothing like the Catskills in September. Ian is a wonderful host. We'll be back.

Tranquil setting in a perfectly appointed apartment decorated with an artist’s eye. Spotlessly clean. Awesome spot to return to after our hikes. I loved the back bedroom with giant window facing the yard, felt like I was in a treehouse. Throw up the windows and enjoy the cricket chorus.

My wife and I spent four nights here and didn't want to leave. The hummingbrds, the gardens, the birds, the stream...it was heaven.

This was one of the most amazing vacations we have had. Ian is an incredible host. Always responsive and never intrusive. He has a great personality and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting him. The setting is like from a fairy tale books. The decor is very tasteful and original. The town of Poenicia is a lively happening place within the shortest drive. The stream is amazing. You can sit there watching the water for hours. We didn't want to leave and will hopefully come again to stay. Highly recommend!

We stayed at Streamside the weekend of the 4th and it was the perfect escape. Ian has gone to great lengths to equip the space with all of the comforts of home and more. As a host he was responsive and made navigating the town and its landmarks as efficient as possible. Thank you, Ian for sharing the beauty of your property and your hometown with us for the weekend!

We enjoyed our stay at Streamside. The stream is prettier than the picture, and the cabin has many large windows for bird watching. We saw grosbeaks, redstarts, goldfinches, cardinals, and as many as 7 hummingbirds at a time. There were several nice hiking trails within a 10 minute drive and many more within a 25 minute drive. Phoenicia was a 5 minute drive a way with some cute dining and shopping (the Nest Egg store has a very well curated selection of naturalist books if that's your thing). The cabin itself is well cared for and spacious, and Ian was very nice. We'd definitely come again.

Enchanted with the gardens, the walk to the river, the fire pit at waters edge, and , in warmer weather, a swimming hole to climb into. A perfectly quiet, rustic hide-away - close to all the attractions of the Catskills.
The hummingbird feeder entertained us at all times of the day. The male keeping a very close watch on the birds daring to use his feeder and being very quick to defend!
Ian is a gracious host - thanks !

Great place!
The place is just great. Really clean, and with a nice decors (loved the lava lamps and the diner style benches and stools AND the bluetooth speaker that also could charge my iphone!). There was everything to cook, not only pots etc but also oil and essential spices, some coffee, and even a big water dispenser.
I was worried of the temperature (as it was sooo cold outside but Ian made it warm and toasty) despite the storm and even cleaned the entire driveway so we got out with no issue whatsoever ever after the all that snow fall.
It’s also like 5min away from the Phenicia diner, really nice plus!
Oh also, really good internet service. Only minor thing (Ian talks about in the description) is that it’s off the grid for regular phone. But I usually use WhatsApp or Signal for calls anyway so it was not a Pb at all for us.
Will definitively come back!

Perfect for Exploration
Streamside is a well appointed, roomy cabin that is about 20 minutes away from anything you want to explore in the Catskills region. Ian provided great information to help make the stay enjoyable and was helpful without being intrusive. The swimming hole in the stream was perfect for cooling off after a hike or traveling. We would definitely recommend Ian and his property and look forward to another stay sometime!
