About this house rental
Tan Terfyn has a queen bedroom, a double bedroom and a third room with single bed. It has been renovated and has a modern bath/shower room, convenient kitchen and comfy living area with sofas, wood stove and TV. At the back there is a fully fenced patio area with BBQ and patio table and chairs which looks out into Murramarang National Park.
Visitors say the house is like the TARDIS - apparently small from the outside but much larger on the inside!
Between the beach, Murramarang Park and Durras Lake
Pronounced "tanterafin", Tan Terfyn is welsh for "up to the edge" or "as far as the boundary" and that sums up this location. You are on the edge of the Muuramarang National Park but also by the banks of the fascinating Durras Lake and close to beautiful Durras Beach.
Carry your surf boards and boogie boards down to the beach for hours of fun. Or walk south along the beach to Durras Village where you will find a handy General Store with supplies, pizza and coffee. In you decide to walk north along the beach you will enjoy miles and miles of practically deserted coastline, rocky headlands and, if you walk far enough, the renowned beaches at Pebbly Beach and Pretty Beach.
Serious walkers can hike along the beach and then take trails to the peak of Mount Durras for a real feel of achievement and a fantastic view.
Durras Lake
Durras Lake is completely enclosed within Murramarang National Park and at 6kms long, deceptively large. There is a boat slip at the end of the street for serious fishermen who want to launch into the lake. But at the moment the recent rains have left the lake wonderfully full and a canoe as the best way to explore its secret places. There is a canoe rental company just up the street or you can bring your own.
Don't miss seeing the 'race' where Durras Lake has recently broken through the beach to join the ocean. This is particularly exciting at high tide. For years you could walk along the beach from South Durras to North Durras and beyond - now you need to be ready to swim the lake entrance channel!

This comfy little cottage had all the basics you need. Suited to a family or small group of friends. It is nothing fancy but for the price it is great value, has everything you need, is clean and in a good location close to beach and the lake. Nice little outdoor area with bbq
to eat outside and watch all the wild life. Would definitely come back.

Great place, excellent location, loved the alfresco dining at the back looking out at the bird filled forest . Very well equipped for entertaining.

Perfect for a quiet, east stay. The Tardis has landed in a friendly location with kangaroos literally out the back door. A great place to calm your farm.

Wonderful neat house, great for beach and river access. Very quiet and comfortable. Only problem was the front door is very difficult to lock and unlock. Would stay again once this is fixed.

Place was lovley, both physical house and its location. Was super quiet and allowed both relaxing and physical enjoyment.
Great for anyone looking for a coast get away =)

The house was as described, a Tardis. There was so much more space than the outside would suggest. Lovely spacious living area for a family of three. The bedrooms were comfortable band a there was a lovely bath. This was cleanest places that we have stayed in on the south coast. The house was tastefully decorated and had enough of everything needed without the extra clutter that you sometimes get in holiday homes. The location was great backing on to a national park. We enjoyed the wildlife (Kangaroos and tiny frogs). It was so close to the beach and lake. We are likely to return.

The property was as described but when we arrived the kitchen bench and stove were covered in ants which leads me to the question of how good was it cleaned. As well the property had no airconditioning it had fans but fans did not do the job of cooling the rooms. All else was fine.

Lovely surroundings. Well-equipped with everything you need. Just a bit annoying opening a front door that sticks.

We enjoyed our stay at South Durras. The house was very comfortable and met all of our needs. The neighbourhood was quiet and, with the house backing onto the national park, there was abundant wildlife. We enjoyed the many walks nearby. The only issue for us was a very noisy fridge.

Little Oasis
We really enjoyed our stay here. It was so easy to find and a great location! The surrounding neighbours were not a problem at all. It’s a great stay with kids too.
We loved having all the kangaroos around too.
The only things that we think really need addressing is the front screen door needs to be easily operational. The front door itself needs a proper door handle and lock so that it is easier to just close the door without locking it. Also the back screen door should be fixed so it can be left open for a breeze.
However, these issues did NOT impact our stay, it would have just made functionability easier.
Thankyou Louisa for being so friendly and for the stay! We hope to come back again one day.

Great location and comfortable stay
A great place for a small family holiday. Good location with easy access to Lake Durras and views out to the forest from the BBQ area out the back. Great modern kitchen, comfortable beds and a well maintained bathroom. As noted in other reviews, not a huge place but when I'm in South Durras, I'm spending most of my time outside anyway. Great communications from Louisa. We'll be back :)

nice stay at tan terfyn
nice location in the wild. you need to plan ahead because the nearest supermarket is 12 km away. Beaches around are beautiful, but you cannot stay outside after 5 pm because of the mossies.

A beautiful little town with walking distance to the beach and walk south a little, you can get to the lake where you can have safe swimming and fishing sessions. Property is clean and spacious and had a wonderful BBQ in the backyard. Woolies/Kmart are 15 min away and also can drive 20 min to pebbly beach and North Durras. Would definitely visit again if I can!

Lovely cottage
Thanks for a lovely spring weekend break. This cottage really is like the tardis!!! First thing my kids said when they walked in and they hadn’t seen the other reviewer that also made that comment. The kitchen was really well stocked with equipment and all spotless.

Lovely location
The house is in an excellent location, backing onto the bush and just a short walk to the beach and lake. It is dog friendly as is the beach. The house is equipped with the basics with some games to play and suits a family of 4-6 . Our dealings with the owner were excellent. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much.

Tranquil getaway!
We had a lovely time staying here over the Easter long weekend. The location is superb - a beautiful little hideaway right near the beach and national park. Its the first time we really felt that a dog friendly holiday home lived up to being “dog friendly”. The yard is fully secured with fencing, tiled floors throughout and a couple of minutes walk from a long stretch of dog beach (24/7 off leash). The house itself was very clean and very well equipped with everything you need for a trip away. The wood burner fire was a lovely bonus, making our weekend a relaxing tranquil getaway.
We had a fantastic trip and look forward to planning another visit some time!

The house is a great size and set up for animals. Walking distance to a great beach. Could not fault it.
