Swiss chalet type house with exposed douglas fir beams. Back of home has all windows opening to deck and forest. 2 bedrooms with open loft for 3rd bedroom, with 2 baths. Sleeps 6 people but open to a larger group. Has modern appliances including sub zero refrigerator, dishwasher, washer/dryer, high speed internet with television. Open kitchen, great for entertaining with large table that seats 20. Glass enclosed shower downstairs with tub/hand shower upstairs. Quiet forest surrounding with some trails and country roads for walking. Near all of Berkshire lakes, trails, arts and country life. 20 minutes from all shopping.

My wife , mysf and our 13 year old dog enjoyed our stay very much. The 3 bedroom was much more than we needed but I have to be honest that I fell in love with the timber framed home . I am a woodworker and former Industrial Arts teacher and really enjoyed the Post and beam framing .

This house has everything you could possibly need. If you are looking for peace and quiet this house is for you. Pleasant outdoor surroundings and comfortable indoor amenities. The house is conveniently located to explore the area by foot and car. Laura was very helpful when we have questions. We enjoyed our stay so much we will be sure to use this house again.

We loved our stay in Peru. It was a bit far away from our wedding without local ride shares but we still had a great time. Beautiful home and setting. It’s very peaceful and quiet.

Our family absolutely loved our stay! We all commented that we would love to one day live in a place like this! :-) Gorgeous home (clean & welcoming) and gorgeous wooded area (loved sitting by the babbling brook)!!! Overall wonderful, relaxing experience. Would come back in a heart beat!

We really enjoyed staying in this warm and relaxing space. It was the end of winter and we had lovely walks both out back and at the historic properties 20 min away. Nice, cozy/romantic place, equipped with plenty of good music, books and games, comfortable beds and fine bathrooms/kitchen.

This house was incredible - off the beaten path and very private - we felt like the only ones there. The house was impeccable, had everything we needed for the few day's stay, and was just the right size for our family of 5. The owner was very responsive and even offered for us to stay past sign out time when a freezing rain storm hit the night before we were planning to leave. This was our favorite VRBO yet

I can't say enough about the Swiss Chalet in The Berkshires. It was beautiful and abundantly appointed. I stayed there with two of my lifelong friends, and each one of us had the same positive reaction - it just made you feel good. The remote & quiet location was just what we needed to decompress, but getting to Pittsfield and area attractions was an easy drive. I would stay again in a heart beat! Thank you!

Laura's terrific timber frame home was the perfect early March reset that my family needed! Coming from Albany, NY; Peru was a perfect halfway point enroute to a conference that we were attending in Amherst. The home was cozy, well appointed, and had eclectic decor. Even though it has a small footprint, it felt spacious. With March weather being unpredictable, we had an outside fire one evening and snow the next. It made the forest surrounding the property look absolutely enchanting! Many thanks for a wonderful getaway!

We had a perfect week at this home in Peru. It's secluded, peaceful, and so cozy. I stayed with a friend and my dog and worked remotely, which went off without a hitch. The wifi was great through conference calls, and the dining room table was a perfect desk spot. The natural light in this house is a dream. We loved our stay so much that we've already made tentative plans to return in the spring. 10/10!

Our family have a wonderful time staying in the chalet. We explored the woods with our young children. The house is stocked with essentials along with fun surprises, like toys for the kids. The beds were very comfortable and the chalet is clean, bright, and fun. We would definitely return.

i spent the weekend here with a college friend -- we had such a lovely time. the house was clean, the view is wonderful, and we went hiking nearby. would definitely recommend this home, and would definitely return.

Great little house in the woods away from other people. Very quiet and extremely clean. Biggest drawback was no air conditioning and the last morning the heat was somehow on? I did not think to check A.C when reviewing amenities. There were several fans for use already set up. Nothing extra like at other locations/stays. (My most recent before this stay had local coffee and and m and m dispensing machine that was super fun and made the trip very memorable. No lists of local restaurants or things to do that host recommended which is fine, we used google) We were in area for a friends wedding. Saw lots of wildlife and wild turkeys and Had no issues while on property where I needed to contact host. Would recommend property.

We simply loved staying at this property. It has been tastefully decorated yet feels comfortable and inviting. It is so peaceful and we loved walking down to the brook at the end of the garden. It is also in an ideal location for exploring the Berkshires, as most places are within easy reach. Communications were thoughtful and timely and it really felt like Laura was very caring and wanted us to have a lovely stay. We would definitely recommend!

The house is quite large and with all amenities you would have home. The location is inside a state forest, with absolute quiet and crispy clean air . As remote as it sounds, it's only 20 minutes from Pittsfield, with a large mall including two supermarkets , Walmart, Home Depot, Starbucks and many more. I highly recommend Patrick's Pub , great food and beer with reasonable prices. If you don't mind driving a beat more through a beautiful scenery and go to Great Barrington, you can find great local restaurants and our favorite pizza Baba Louie's. Otherwise the host has thought of everything, house is stacked with the necessary toiletries/paper products, and much more.

What an absolutely wonderful home to enjoy the beauty of the Berkshires! Perfect for our large family of 5! The house was fully stocked with anything one could need! We really enjoyed cooking some of our meals in the kitchen. Our kids really enjoyed the large fire pit in the backyard and checking out the stream and beaver dam a short walk through the backyard. The location is great for exploring all the Berkshires has to offer- within 20-40 min drives: Mt Greylock for hiking, all the cute towns like Stockbridge, Lenox and North Adams, swam in waterfalls and enjoyed the peace and quiet and slower pace for the week. There were awesome movies and games and puzzles at the house too. Grocery stores, gas and big town comforts were a short drive away in Pittsfield. We liked the restaurant up the road “Listons” and found yummy coffee in Dalton. Laura felt like a family friend hosting you at her house- great communication and all the amenities top notch. I miss waking up to those huge windows overlooking the beautiful backyard and sky!

Overall our stay at this cabin was ok. We really enjoyed the location, and exploring the surrounding area with our toddlers. We were however surprised upon arrival about the lack of AC. It was not clear in the listing, or we would not have booked it as we have young children. The cabin was not very clean when we arrived. Very dusty and the grill had mold so we could not use it. We also had trouble finding things in the kitchen and closets as everything was tossed into drawers, cabinets, and shelves. The beds are very firm which personally we did not find comfortable. Otherwise it wasn't a bad stay. The little details in decor and the style of the home make it a unique experience in a beautiful area.

The home was located on a very quiet road with only the sounds of birds...............the area around was filled with beautiful trees and ferns, you feel like you are millions of miles from everything but just a short distance all the conveniences you would need. If you are looking for a beautiful home away from home this is the place, all the comforts you would want and need!!!!!

While located deep in the rural woods, this cabin has all the modern amenities, including internet and WIFI, that one would expect in a more suburban setting. The cabin is spacious and well-equipped. We communicated frequently with the owner and the responses were always prompt. As the listing notes indicate, the nearest gas stations and grocery stores are 20 minutes away in Pittsfield, so plan accordingly. Also, being deep in the woods during the summer months, the mosquitoes and ticks were very happy to see us :-) Nonetheless, it's a great cabin (house), in a beautiful location, and highly recommended.

This beautiful house in the woods is a perfect escape. Clean and tastefully finished, filled with books, music, games, and movies for entertainment. Three large bedrooms, two full baths including one with a bathtub. Fully stocked kitchen and great communication with the host.

The house itself was so lovely--the beds were great, the decor was warm and inviting, big table for games and meals, and those windows bathe the space in light. There is a beaver dam in the creek behind the house, and we saw a beaver roaming in the backyard! Everything was as listed, but what really won me over was the charming details--and lots of great books too! Such a serene and calming stay, just what we needed! Laura was very quick with responses to questions while booking and communication with her overall was excellent.

The house was great! The house could easily fit 2-3 couples or friends. It was really nice and cozy while being practical. Laura was great to work with, and communicated really fast with us. We're super thankful she was able to accommodate and work with us after we got sick and almost had to cancel last minute. Would definitely come back!

The house is bigger than I expected. The property is beautiful. Many great places to hike and explore in the surrounding area. My partner and I were looking for a place to unplug and check out for a few days. This was absolutely perfect. The house is well equipped with clean linens, kitchen gadgets and appliances, etc.
