12 days in "downtown" Winter Harbor late August. Easy access to Schoodic Peninsula hike, bike, ocean, ocean, ocean! Homeowner very accessible and easy to work with.

Fantastic house and hosts. We loved that we could walk to visit the harbor, go out to dinner, cycle through the national park, and enjoy every minute. Loved sitting on the back deck, enjoying the view, grilling, and relaxing.
Anne and John were great hosts. We’d love to come back.

Wonderful, cute cottage close by the Schoodic Peninsula part of Acadia National Park. It's much quieter and relaxing here in Winter Harbor. It's a nice location to just visit close by attractions or venture farther out like we did to Bar Harbor, and then make a sightseeing trip another day in the other direction to Lubec, Maine on the border of Canada. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds were comfortable. Check-in was a breeze, and the hosts John & Anne were very accommodating. We had a very nice stay here.

Stayed with family in John and Anne’s cottage. Everything was just as described and check in couldn’t be easier. Perfectly located within walking distance of several restaurants and ferry and short drive to Schoodic Acadia and farmers market just across the street on Tuesday. Would definitely stay there again. Only suggestion would be to update some of the information in the book for 2024 as it seems there have been some post-Covid changes to local businesses.

This is a very cozy home very close to the Schoodic Peninsula of Acadia National Park. Wonderful restaurant on the corner within walking distance. Everything was as described and very comfortable.

Property was very nice. We had a little difficulty finding the cottage as we arrive late at night and it was dark. The house number was on the house and not the cottage as we could not see the cottage as we drove up. the downstairs bathroom did have a funky smell to it. we love the fact that we could walk to everything and the restaurants were wonderful. I would highy encourage the ferry to bar harbor.

Very comfortable, spacious kitchen and dining area as well as living room/TV area. Very well supplied with all our dining and cleaning needs. Downstairs and upstairs bathroom with large walk in showers. I would suggest that the upstairs bathroom needs more hooks for towels and a small table for toiletries . John and Ann were very responsive both on line and by phone for any of our questions. We really enjoyed our week with you!
Thanks, Margaret

Very nice, well equipped house. Located on a quiet street within walking distance of everything in Winter Harbor including restaurants, groceries, and the Winter Harbor - Bar Harbor Ferry. Very conveniently located for exploring the Schoodic Peninsula portion of Acadia NP by car or bicycle. Day trips to Bar Harbor and the Mount Desert Island portion of the park are very doable as well, but note that Bar Harbor is a good hour drive by car. We really liked the property and would definitely book it again.

We very much enjoyed staying in John and Anne's cottage. It is in the heart of Winter Harbor with easy access to all the shops and a short drive away from the National Park at Schoodic and nice outlooks on Grindstone. The house is well equipped and comfortable. Everything worked (although the Wifi is a bit slow). John and Anne are welcoming hosts.

Centrally located, beautifully decorated, comfortable house making our trip to the quiet side of Acadia the perfect getaway.

This property location was exactly as described. My family that includes three children under the age of 8 thoroughly enjoyed the laid back atmosphere of Winter Harbor, and the views experienced at Acadia on the Schoodic Peninsula. We took the ferry from Winter Harbor to Bar Harbor one day and had a great time on the ferry. We realized quickly though that the views available at Acadia on Schoodic were just as spectacular as the views available in Acadia in Bar Harbor with far less crowds/congestion which was preferred for the ages of our young kids. There are more dining options in Bar Harbor, but we never had a bad meal in Winter Harbor. The outdoor area at the house was also ideal since the kids could play outside with a large yard area without fear of much (or any) traffic along Rand Ln.

This was a great place to stay. Very clean and quiet and we had a lot of room for the 4 of us.
Owners were amazing to work with.
We would definitely stay there again.

We had a pleasant experience, however the one draw back was the TV reception there was no NFL, NCAA, or Baseball and no locaL channels the set was maybe 20 inch.

House was clean, beds were comfortable and kitchen had everything we needed. Disappointed that there was not a smart tv and only an electric percolator coffee pot. Winter Harbor is a quaint town with shops and restaurants. Got fresh lobsters down by the harbor at the co-op and steamed them at the house. Delicious. Bar Harbor an hour away. Went to Acadia NP several times. Note that the ferry was closed in October. Bar Harbor whale watching we saw many whales on the trip. We enjoyed our stay.

Very clean and spacious place. Be aware that although both bedrooms are upstairs one of the bathrooms is downstairs. About 30 minutes to Ellsworth (the closest real town) that has grocery stores and other services, and about an hour to Acadia National Park. The house is almost across the street from a pretty good restaurant.

We had a blast in Maine and the house was so close to things we ready enjoy doing. The house had everything you need and more. We really appreciated everything. The lobsters from the co ops were fabulous. Maybe upgrade the TV for those rainy days but other than that, perfect!

We absolutely loved our stay here . The property is located in Winter Harbor, within walking distance to the grocery, stores and restaurants. The Schoodic Peninsula portion of Acadia is a short drive or bike ride away. Everything in the house was clean and easy to find. It had all we needed and more.
The neighbors around the house were very friendly and offered good ideas for things to do in the area. We really appreciated how generous they were with tourists.

Excellent place
Wonderful place to stay in the Acadia National Park area. John and Anne are great hosts who were alway quick to respond to any inquires. It’s near enough to enjoy and explore the Bar Harbor area while still enjoying the tranquil Winter Harbor area. House has all the amenities for a week stay. Would definitely stay here again.

Perfect Location
We absolutely loved our stay in Winter Harbor. The cottage was perfect for our needs, with a well-equipped kitchen, comfy beds, and the ability to walk to town. We drove around the Schoodic Peninsula, exploring many of the small towns and, of course, went often to the Schoodic Section of Acadia. We enjoy nature and photography and found this to be a lovely setting. Bar Harbor and the main section of Acadia are about an hour away. We drove there to see the park, but much preferred the quiet offered by Winter Harbor. Anne was right next door during the week we stayed and was always a pleasure to talk to. She offered several helpful suggestions on places to explore. Thank you again for a great stay, we certainly plan to be back!

Great family house minutes from Schoodic peninsula
I originally booked the place as a cheaper option to the stays in Bar Harbor but we had so much more fun staying at Schoodic peninsula during the day: no crowds with breathtaking scenery equal to Mount Desert Island and an overall more manageable experience with 3 kids 7 and under. The house was spacious and clean with a big kitchen area. Lots of books/board games/puzzles in the living room. There is no central air but with the bedroom windows open this wasn't a problem for us. John and Anne were staying next door and very friendly and easy to get in touch with a knock on their door. They had great recommendations for the area that we all really enjoyed most of which are mentioned in the binder at the coffee table.

The house was super clean and comfortable. Everything you want to see is about 30 miles away! If ever I make it back to Maine, I will definitely want to rent again. A very peaceful quiet neighborhood. 2 very good restaurants within walking distance! Thank you so much for sharing your rental home with me.

Loved Winter Harbor!
We just returned home from an awesome stay in Winter Harbor. The cottage was everything we had heard about it, a stone's throw from the harbor where we spent time each day, exploring and enjoying all we found there. The cottage was well-stocked, as mentioned many times, very comfortable, both inside and out, super clean and well-maintained. We loved the deck with rocking chairs and lots of flowers, a lovely lawn, and most importantly, a tree swing which got hours of use by my three grandchildren. They were able to bike safely in front of the cottage and we played croquet several times.
Nearby was a sandy beach, great for kite-flying and playing in the sand, which we enjoyed with few other people. We also loved climbing the rocks at Schoodick Point and the very interesting Puffin Cruise (both highly recommended). Of course, we spent time at Acadia (the sunset from Cadillac Mtn was beautiful, and the Jr Ranger program great for kids) and Bar Harbor , but were glad to return to Winter Harbor for fewer tourists and traffic! Would definitely return here!

Cozy home in a fabulous place
We made a last-minute decision to travel to Maine for an escape from real life, and we are so lucky to have found this wonderful spot. Anne and John were terrific and generous hosts who helped us make sure we understood the covid travel requirements In Maine, and who even dropped off gifts to help celebrate our six-year-old’s birthday! Their home is perfectly set up for kids, with a large yard and croquet set, a bunch of games and blocks, and a swing. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could need. You can walk to everywhere in Winter Harbor and walk or bike to the Schoodic peninsula part of Acadia National Park, which we found to be much quieter than Mt Desert Island and just as stunning. Thank you Anne and John! We will be back.

Thank you John and Anna for letting us rent your cottage. My husband and I LOVED your cottage! It was perfect. The cottage was clean, and the you thought of everything! We love quiet and your cottage was in a very quite area. The whole town is quite and seeing the bay from the property was great! We even saw a couple of deer just beyond the property trees.
