About this cabin rental
A Message to Our Valued Renters:
We’re sure that you are experiencing more stress than you would like in these uncertain times.
A great spot to just relax and enjoy the view. Our renters agree that the photographs don't do it justice. A large great room has floor to ceiling windows overlooking the bay, and has a stone fireplace so you can watch the sunset or sit by the fire. The kitchen is very well appointed and includes just about everything the chef desires except the food. There is a full laundry room with a washer and a dryer. No need to waste hours at the laundromat. The rec room includes a ping pong table, games, video tapes, DVDs, and satellite TV as well as a cozy stone fireplace and a seating area to relax and enjoy the fire or the spectacular view of Frenchman Bay. The children's bedroom is furnished with a full/twin bunk bed, a twin size bed, and a Pack n Play. In addition there are two beautifully furnished bedrooms with queen-size beds. There is a queen size sofa bed in the great room, another in the rec room, and two comfortable inflatable beds which each sleep two adults.
The home is located about 35 minutes from Bar Harbor, the hub of activities on Mount Desert Island and gateway to Acadia National Park. Bar Harbor offers dozens of restaurants and shops and also kayak and bike rentals.
Hikers who prefer less crowded trails will find that nearby Black Mountain and Schoodic Mountain offer gorgeous panoramic vistas of lakes, ponds, Frenchman Bay, and the Porcupine Islands without the large numbers of hikers found on the better known trails of Acadia.
Winter Harbor, just 5 minutes away, offers galleries, shops and dining, all located in a quaint lobster fishing village with a picturesque town harbor and dock. A passenger ferry runs numerous trips daily from Winter Harbor to Bar Harbor. Lobster pounds abound, and two are located within a couple of miles of the house. Swim and fish at nearby Jones Pond or Donnell Pond at the foot of Schoodic Mountain. Kayaks can be rented in nearby Birch Harbor and kayak tours can also be arranged.
The entrance to the Schoodic Section of Acadia National Park is a few minutes from the house by car or bike, and is a beautiful 'secret' spot which is visited by only a few of the thousands of visitors to Acadia.

This house was perfect for my family travelling with my parents. Beautiful scenery and very quiet. It is close to the Schoodic Acadia park. The only downside was that it was an hour away from the main Accadia park by car. The hosts were great and we definitely enjoyed our time there!

Other reviews are correct, the pictures don’t do justice to the wonderful house and beautiful location. The house is welcoming and well appointed. Had morning coffee on the deck and an evening beer out on the rocks to watch the sun set. Was a bit concerned that the location would feel isolated, but the small towns on the peninsula provided everything we needed. Great food options within a 15 minute drive. We took the ferry to Bar Harbor, did a whale watching trip, and hiked both parts of Acadia. Truly enjoyed our trip!

Loved our stay! Amazing frontage, beautiful home and very kind and professional host. Staying here made for a very memorable vacation with our young children. Thank you for sharing your place with us!

We loved our stay here! We came for our parents’ 50th wedding anniversary and it was everything we hoped for and more. The pictures on the listing do not do this place justice. The location is GORGEOUS, the house is spacious, peaceful, clean and has amazing views. The rooms and beds are comfy. The kitchen is well equipped. It’s probably the cleanest rental we’ve ever stayed at. Rich was super responsive and kind. I would stay here again and again. We sat down by the water every morning and evening. Winter Harbor is a great little town. The Schoodic part of Acadia is so close and is beautiful. We took the ferry to Bar Harbor and that was a lovely trip. We hope to be back SOON!

We had a lovely stay in this beautiful house. It was clean, extremely well cared for, and full of everything you could possibly need. Access and arrival were flawless, the furniture (couches, mattresses) were so comfortable, and the view was breathtaking! Communication from the owner was also fantastic. Highly recommend!

Home is beautiful and well stocked. Communication with owner was easy and helpful, even during stay. Listing mentioned hot tub/jacuzzi but there wasn’t one. Our only complaint.

The cabin is amazing! I wish I could return every year to this place. Great communication with owner - everything was smooth. Two little granddaughters joined us, and they made fairy gardens in the back mossy woods. The whole cabin is super clean, and kitchen is exceptionally stocked for cooking.

Our whole trip was fantastic, but I really feel like this property was a big reason that the trip was so special! The private beach was amazing and provided hours of entertainment for all to enjoy! The views were fantastic and overall just a clean well maintained house! Highly recommend!

Great views at the house and very clean well maintained property. If you’re looking for more activities and don’t want to drive 50 minutes to get to Bar Harbor staying in the main part of Acadia might be a better option but we didn’t mind the driving and the area is very quiet and peaceful.

This property is one of the nicest we've experienced in over 10 years of renting vacation houses. It is beautiful, clean and well equipped. Some one has done an amazing job of decorating and there isn't a supply item forgotten.

The location of this home was peaceful, serene and majestic. The home was clean, comfortable, warm and inviting. We had a terrific time in Maine and at this fine home. We would definitely return to stay and vacation in this area. Outstanding is an accurate description of this home.

Very nice property
But no hand soap or soap in the bathrooms plus only one roll of toilet paper and every bathroom and I for an entire week would’ve been nice to have more toilet paper and some hand soap at least to wash up after using bathroom
Also, hurricane Lee was heading towards Maine the day before was supposed to hit while we were out homeowner came in and rearranged patio furniture into the house would have been nice to be told he was coming into the house That day, while we were out in the entire thing in the lack of communication there

This spacious cabin was a lovely stay. It was clean and well appointed. Privately nestled in some pines against the water, you get some nice views through the trees and a short walk to the water to have some fantastic views. This is close to the much less crowded Schoodic Peninsula part of Acadia Park, and let us bike to the park from the cabin. The near by town is small and for those looking to avoid the crowds of Bar Harbor, this is perfect. There is still a ferry to Bar Harbor and you can drive there to see it and the main part of the national park.

We spent a wonderful July week at the home. While the setting on the water was rustic, the home was modern, up-to-date, clean, and well-appointed. The location allowed for magnificent trips to the nearby Acadia National Forest and excursions into a quaint and bustling Bar Harbor. A nature cruise in the harbor, where we saw bald eagles, seals, porpoises, and ospreys, capped off a great vacation.

From the moment we stepped inside the front door of Rich and Karen’s cabin/chalet we were completely captivated and totally mesmerized. The incredible view of Frenchman Bay greets you the moment you walk through the door. And if the view doesn’t blow you away all of the detailed wood work, high ceilings with beams and craftsmanship that went into the building of this home will take your breath away. They really thought of everything to ensure you and your family are entertained in their home from the ping pong table to board games to adventuring in tidal pools during low tide you’ll love the peaceful down time and chance to unplug and reconnect as we did.

Property is beautiful and spacious. We had plenty of room for our party of eight. The most amazing thing about the property is the view!! It greets you as soon as you open the front door. You won’t be disappointed if choose to stay here. I wish the weather had been better for us so that we could have enjoyed the porch more. Everything was clean and it was fully stocked with everything we needed. We’d definitely stay here again!

Outstanding in every way including location, setting on property, neighborhood quietness, superior interior and exterior, spacious rooms with Maine appropriate styling. If you are looking for a top quality stay for yourself, family or friends, look no more.

We came here last Thanksgiving and loved it so much, we came back again this year. Very peaceful, in a quiet town, and has beautiful views. Rich is very responsive when communicating and answers all questions. Highly recommend this property!

This was our second time staying here and it was just as amazing as we remembered. An absolute stunning home in a serene location. Highly recommend staying here.

The house was very nice and comfortable and clean. Rich was very nice in responding to the initial questions about recommendations for hiking and things to do. I just wish that we had back up toilet paper since it wasn’t super convenient to run out of TP.

Beautiful log home in a great area. Spacious and tastefully decorated. If you’re looking for peace and quite by the ocean among the trees, this is the place.

The owner of this property was extremely helpful and proactive. He provided info even before I asked! Above all, he displayed genuine care for us given my husband’s heart issues. Looking at coming back again for sure! Thank you Richard

This property is amazing. It is such a serene and relaxing place. The view off the back deck is truly indescribable!! It is close enough to Acadia Park and Bar Harbor but far enough from the tourism. We loved it and plan to bring our family back.

my family absolutely loved this property. It was clean, comfortable, beautiful and quiet. We enjoyed the fireplace on cool nights and mornings. The kitchen was fully stocked and the decor was charming. We couldn’t have asked for anything better. We had everything. we needed. Thank you so much!

Everything was great with the home. The listing was accurate in every way. Amazing views, extremely clean, very peaceful and secluded.

The property itself is gorgeous. Beautiful, well- maintained home in a perfect setting. Very nice, high end neighborhood. Next door neighbor was very friendly, welcoming. Beautiful sunsets across the bay every evening. Schoodic is great. MDI without the crowds.
I would have to say I’d have expected a better mattress.
All in all, we left very contented.
The VRBO process, however, was a nightmare. We’d originally booked a home in Kennebunkport Beach. Thought we’d gotten a great bargain but then the owner contacted us to say she couldn’t honor the inaccurate price VRBO had listed and asked us ti please cancel. We did.
On this rental, I paid my final payment a few days ahead of schedule (and received a confirmation email from VRBO) but was still listed as unpaid the week before we were due to arrive. Attempts to resolve were quite frustrating. Their “chat” service was useless. Speaking to a rep was not a whole lot better. They never pulled up their own confirmation email as I asked. Instead, I had to contact my bank for confirmation the payment was made as well as provide a copy of my statement listing the payment as well as send them a copy of their own email.
I’d previously rented through Home Away and was very satisfied. I’m unlikely to go through VRBO again.

We had a wonderful time during our stay here! The property was exactly as described, and had everything one would need while away from home. The check in process was a breeze - the most efficient I have encountered. The owner was prompt in responding to messages and helpful with questions. And the view from inside the house was unparalleled. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful escape in nature.

Our family so enjoyed our week at this property. We were greeted with an exceptionally clean space on arrival. The view out the back of the harbor is fabulous. The house is well stocked (kitchen, towels, utensils). We enjoyed our stay. We went to Acadia National Park and also took the ferry to Bar Harbor. We ate at a delicious restaurant that was recommended by the owners, and had plenty of Lobster. while watching the sunset by the water behind the house, we did have the pleasure of seeing a harbor seal. We highly recommend this property.
Thank you.

The property exceeded expectations and the owner was responsive and attentive. Also the cleanest rental home I've experienced.

This was truly a beautiful and peaceful place to stay. The ping pong table, ring toss game, and game room were a big hit. The house is very close to Winter Harbor where you can enjoy restaurants, the Five and Dime, etc. The only negatives (which we’re not terribly negative) were the poor lighting and the bed in the master was not a king size. But overall, we loved this house and would gladly stay again!

The house and views are stunning. We cooked every night in a well equipped kitchen
The good news is that there are not many tourists around winter harbor. The downside is that there is only one place for dinner nearby

Great house away from tourist crowds!
The accommodations were everything we hoped for! Great house and great host!
