About this apartment rental
The creation of 'Pirate Ryan's Den' came about after our success with the sister unit upstairs 'Booby Duck Cottage' (VRBO # 341001)... please see our reviews! As the name suggests, we have tried our best to give this lovely 'not so little' unit a Pirate's Touch, as the photos will show! We can offer you a One Bedroom arrangement (studio if you will), or a two bedroom apartment** (** price to be negotiated when 2 bedroom arrangement is used) the photos will help here in showing such an option. Whatever one might need for comfortable living we have tried to provide, and if it is not there, we will get it for you (within reason, of course!). Just a 'stumble' away are Bars / Nightclubs / Beaches / more bars ... you get the picture! Pirate Ryan is immediately infront of an eco-stream, and right on the main St. Lawrence Road, thus permitting quick access to public transportation (Bds$2.00 bus fares!). It is of course air-conditioned and charmingly appointed....AGAIN, we urge you to see our reviews for our sister property VRBO # 341001..Booby Duck Cottage....Look forward to welcoming you to our Den and Our Wonderful Island with all of it's natural Treasures!! Arrrgh!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay in Pirate Ryan’s Den. It was well located.
Trevor was great to work with as he was very prompt responding to any needs or concerns. He met us and explained about the rental. The location was perfect because it was within walking distance to restaurants and beautiful beaches. We had a really lovely time in The Gap. Thank you Trevor.

The Gem of the Gap
This was our second visit to the island. When I found Pirate Ryan's Den on VRBO. I read the reviews of others and book the house for 2 weeks. It was fantastic. I was communicating with Trevor before I left. He picked us up a permit to bring meat from Canada to the island. I would recommend anyone coming for extended stay to bring beef and pork. The prices at the stores are crazy high. Trevor was in constant contact to make sure if we needed anything. He does make the best rum punch on the island. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Its close to a couple beaches, grocery, and numerous restaurants and bars. The bay is a 3 minute walk where if you are down there at the right time when the fisherman come in you can buy fresh fish for a good price and cook yourself. The bay is also a great place to snorkel. We saw turtles, stingrays and other fish. I cant say enough good things about the property. Its clean, safe and be prepared to buy lots of bananas for your house guests that swing by everyday for some free handouts. We plan on going back next year because there is no time like Bajan time..

Trevor, the property's owner, was a wonderful host and he went above and beyond in looking after us. The property is clean and spacious with everything in it that you might reasonably expect. It is situated in the 'Lawrence Gap' area where there are numerous restaurants and bars mainly for tourists. There are two local supermarkets nearby so in theory everything you might need is within walking distance. We wanted a week in the sun for a reasonable price and we certainly got that. Some of the world's most beautiful beaches are a short bus ride away from the property and we had the most amazing time visiting them. These beaches are easily accessible via the ubiquitous local minibuses that you can hail down for 2 Bajan Dollars per person per journey.(about 0.40GBP at the time of writing (March 2019)). All in all, Pirate Ryan's Den is a great value option for those wanting to visit Barbados and we plan to return to Pirate Ryan's Den soon. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Beautiful accommodation brilliant location
Pirate Ryan’s den exceeded our expectation. The apartment was spacious enough for up to four guest. The owner was very helpful and easy to interact with. We will stay at pirate Ryan’s den in future. The location is ideal if you want both piece and quite and if nightlife is required then it’s only 200 yards or so away. No noise can be herd whilst in the apartment. This apartment is a must the photos don’t show the true beauty of the apartment.

Really great place for the low low price!
Stayed in Pirate Ryan's Den for a girls getaway. It was really conveniently located, right at the entrance of the Gap, and on the main road where you can access buses that go by every couple of minutes and can take you to Accra Beach (a great beach!) in five minutes, or to Oistins in the other direction. We really enjoyed dining in the Gap at the many restaurants, and especially enjoyed Beach One (with bartenders Niko, Binta and Tyrone!). Very chillaxed music, good food, beautiful place and very lovely staff.
The apartment itself is very clean and air-conditioned, with two bathrooms (one half and one full). The kitchen has everything you could want in it. The beds are clean. We used the separate bedroom as my friend and I didn't want to share a queen sized bed. We had plenty of room. Make sure to try out the hammock! Also, there is an enclosed veranda in the front which is a bit noisy being right on the street, but has a clothes line for hanging up your wet clothes, which was awesome.
Trevor is extremely nice and personable and will definitely go out of his way to make sure you have everything you need. We both recommend this place if you are looking for an affordable, conveniently located place to stay near the Gap!

Best Vacation Ever! Wonderful Location and Service!
Trevor is a great person and Pirate Ryan's Den is a wonderful location for any Cropover participants! Trevor picked us up from the Airport and made us feel at home when we arrived at Pirate Ryan's. We had complimentary Rum Punch and got a full tour/breakdown of the house. We were given a cell phone in which we used for our stay and there is WIFI so we were able to use our Canadian phones for bbm/whatsapp etc. Anything we had questions about was promtly answered by Trevor! The location is perfect walking distance to food, parties, banks and any necessities you need. Trevor even dropped us off at the airport! This was my first time in Barbados and Cropover and trust me when I say I will be back at Pirate Ryan's Den next Cropover!

The Best!
When my boyfriend and I decided not to stay in a hotel during our trip to BIM, we set our expectations way below what it otherwise have been for accommodations. Little did we know what we would have an experience that far surpassed many we've had at major resorts. Trevor is an absolute class act who could not have been more welcoming. He hooked us up with a tour of the neighborhood, a local cell phone, AMAZING rum punch and a ride back to the airport when it came him to depart. We can't wait to return with friends and family! Thank you!!!!

Stayed 4 weeks over Christmas and had a ball. Apartment really did feel like home.
Trevor made us feel really welcome and does anything he can to help
The cockerels serve as an early morning alarm so we didn't waste any time sleeping instead of visiting the beach
Thanks Trevor.

Amazing Trip; Barbados is Beautiful
My boyfriend & I stayed at Pirate Ryan's Den for 2 weeks. Trevor was there at the airport to greet us, he gave us a little tour of the beautiful island. He then took us to our wonderful accomodations. We walked through the door & knew instantly we had chosen the perfect vacation spot. He gave us a prepaid cell phone & he even checked in on us several times. Renting from him was so easy & he is truly a special person....caring the way he does. We enjoyed our daily stop at Sharkey's; visit Mike, the bartender; tell him that Jen & Perry sent you & he will hook you up on the most delirious rum drinks! Take the bus down to Oistens for fresh fish, what a treat. You can walk to grocery stores, several beaches, and numerous restaurants. And of course, Maria's Famous Rum Punch was there to greet us on arrival. Thank Trevor & Maria, we enjoyed our 1st trip to Barbodos and hope to return. Jen & Perry

Could not have been better
We had a great time. Trevor picked us up at the airport, gave us a quick tour of the area and then settled us in with his wife's rum punch. He topped up the cell phone, made great recommendations when we asked and was very attentive to any questions or concerns we had. PRD is very close to the St. Lawrence Gap area which has lots of bars and restaurants. There is a local beach close by or within 15 mins east or west are other beaches to try our and explore. PRD was clean and had a complete fully stocked kitchen so you could make your own food. Great location for being in the middle of the Gap.

Barbados Bliss!
My boyfriend and I stayed at Pirate Ryan's for a week in May and we were both blown away by Trevor's hospitality! From greeting us on arrival at the airport, giving us a driving tour around the area, and a welcome bottle of delicious rum punch in the fridge, our arrival/check-in was perfect. The apartment is incredibly clean and well-stocked; including ample towels, kitchen appliances/utensils, TV with satellite, and Wifi. The property is walking distance to several gorgeous beaches, great restaurants, night entertainment, and the grocery store. Trevor replied promptly to all of our questions, and even provided a cell phone for us to use while on the island. We walked down to Accra beach almost daily, as for 60BDS you can rent 2 chaises, an umbrella, and get the full value for credit at the Tiki bar (allows for 2 entrees off the menu, and 2 drinks) this beach also has access to a new boardwalk that makes for a lovely stroll. The roosters across the road will be your alarm clock the first morning or two, but after that they didn't bother us. This property is simply fantastic, and my advice is one week here is not long enough!! Thank you Trevor, Maria and Ryan!

Pirate Ryans Den... The best establishment in Barbados
My fiance and I recently stayed at Pirate Ryans Den ( 04/15/13-4/23/13) and our stay can be described as pure "bliss". It was quaint, private and just felt like a home away from home... The "den" is equipped with cook ware and just normal vacation items you normally use but may forget to pack like beach towels..hair dryer.. and a cooler for the beach. We didn't have the pleasure of meeting the owners wife Maria but the reputation of her Rum Punch... wow she deserves a thousand "Kudos" for her recipie... As a couple we honestly were totally comfortable in this quaint yet modern apartment. The bus stop is a stones throw away and The Gap... a short walk... I had a ball !!!! and I recommend this place to any couple who is seeking privacy ..but dosen't want to be to far from the nightlife.. Trevor is awesome..... and makes sure you have all that you need... I honestly cannot see myself staying anywhere else other than Pirate Ryans Den on all future trips to Barbados.

Great little place!
Pirate Ryan was an awesome place to stay! The location couldn't have been better, it was close to everything! The grocery store, beaches, restaurants, bars, everything was in walking distance. Trevor was amazing! So helpful with everything and right there if you need anything. He provided us a cell phone to keep with us for our stay in case we needed to contact him or make any local phone calls. There are some roosters across the street, and the house is on the main road, which can make for a bit of noise but its not bad. Overall this is an awesome place and provided us with everything we needed for our vacation!

An understated Jewel
Before I start, this is not Sandy lane. However I bet I would say that my stay was on a comparable level, made so by a good host and my company. We wanted to get away from the All inclusive production line process of Barbados with a choice of meeting people and dining out. I had never stayed in an apartment before and I was somewhat apprehensive.
I was lucky to stay in this lovely apartment during February 2013. From the word go Trevor (the owner) went out of his way to make our stay comfortable. We were picked up and taken to the apartment and after being shown around we were left alone. Whilst alone we did not feel vulnerable because we'd been given a cell phone by Trevor and the fact that this place is so close to all the amenities of St Lawrence Gap.
The first thing one notices is that the Pirates Den is spacious and clean with a large Queen size bed. Towels are in abundance. The next thing I noticed is that the theme of sea and Pirates has been tastefully maintained.
Furnishing is exceptional throughout and the bed in the main room is large and comfortable.
There is mention of the chickens over the road. They are lovely and in a funny way became our pets. Everyday we would get up and deliberately look out at them. From about 6pm we would look out and watch them take their roosting places.
The Gap is in walking distance so is an excellent beach. Do not just wait until Friday for Oistins which is only 2 dollars away. The ZR bus route is outside and there are an assortment of beaches close by. This place is ideal for privacy.
The downside is that there is no garden, but who needs one when you are at the beach everyday. The rest is up to you.
I forgot to mention the upside. The two hammocks in the apartment. The easy to use kitchen utensils. The clean toilet and shower, the lovely breakfast lounge, the rum punch, the secure locks and doors, the feeling that you are not overlooked, the sun, parking spaces, the beach over the road, the great host. There are a too many to mention. This place is definitely recommended.

Heaven in Paradise
I think my words will not get across just how wonderful my stay was at Pirate Ryans Den, but I am going to try. Trevor was just the perfect host, collected me from the airport having picked up a friend from Oistins who wanted to be there to meet me. They waited an hour and half for me to get through custom!! To be greeted like a family friend by Trevor was just so lovely.. and thats how I found all the locals on Barbados to be. Very special people..
Trevor made sure I was safe, provided a mobile phone for me in case of emergencies, and just was 'there' in the background...such a good feeling.
The apartment...LOVED it!!! Every little detail has been taken care of.. so comfortable and spacious. Recommend the hammocks!!
And we had a lovely lady living next door who gave us a breadfruit for free!! And boy it tasted good.. again, just lovely friendly generous people.
The alarm clock.. man across the way has 24 chickens/cockerels!.. I will miss them!! Honestly, you don't notice after the first day, in fact its pleasant. No oversleeping but who would want to.. You would miss the best part of the day. On the local beach at Worthing for 8.00am one day.. stunning, just stunning. Perfect place to watch the sun go down too... and if you are lucky you will swim with the turtles!! I had two days of seeing them around me in the water on this beach.. Worthing .
Can I recommend Franks Bar around on the Gap. Walk past the big clubs and you will get to Franks, just a gem. Lovely cocktails...one for one..and the old fashioned soul and jazz music, Excellent!! Thanks Mr.Frank... a lovely man.
Trevor also gave me plenty of local tips, and he was on hand to drag me back to the airport...kicking and screaming!!!! Again he waited whilst my friend made sure I was booked in ok.. and a kiss and a hug farewell from Trevor just finished the holiday exactly the way it started..this is not just a buisness to Trevor. He makes life long friends along the way. Problem is we will all want to go back!!! A secret little gem...
Barbados surpassed all my dreams... so many highs... recommend you use the ZR's for local transport!! Its an experience is all i will say...lol.
I feel such a lucky woman to have come across this accomodation... will I stay anywhere else... NEVER (well, unless Simon Cowells villa is empty!!)
Thank you Trevor, and Maria.(rum punch is waiting for someone to get back this week, then it will be opened and you will be toasted) .
Oh Ryan, pirates are best

Perfection
Perfect location and a even more beautiful rental...Trevor is amazing! He is very understanding and always willing to assist. Upon arrival instead of leaving us to figure things out ourselves, which often happens,he acted as a tour guide which helped a lot.The place is cozy and very clean. After a day i had to remind myself i was just visiting it felt like home.Maria's rum punch is the best i have ever tasted on the island! There's so much more wonderful things i can say but to make it short if you are staying anywhere stay here.

Trevor has done a wonderful job with this property. The pictures and description are a good representation of the space. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Beautiful Worthing beach is just a five minute walk away and it's very close to St. Lawrence Gap. There are plenty of restaurants close by and a large supermarket within walking distance. Pirate Ryan's den has everything you need. The unit is well soundproofed from road noise so sleeping is not a problem. The only downside would be the lack of a quiet outdoor space to sit and enjoy Maria's rum punch but then Little Bay is less than two minutes walk away and we enjoyed our morning coffee and a nightcap there.
Trevor really is a national treasure, I recommend him for Barbadian Hospitality Ambassador. He welcomed us as if we were longtime friends. The people of Barbados are one of the reasons why people return to the island time and time again!
