About this apartment rental
Our beautiful 2nd floor apartment is nicknamed ‘The Haven’ because it’s a perfect retreat. After a day of exploring, return to this quiet, cozy authentically ‘Portland’ apartment just a short walk from all of the city’s most desirable destinations.
The apartment has the charm of an old Maine cabin with all the modern conveniences. You’ll find sliding barn doors and bead board and a clawfoot tub and butcher block counter, along with a smart TV and Bluetooth speakers. Plenty of fluffy cotton towels and all the basic toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, razors, tampons, first aid kit) stock the bathroom. In the kitchen, you’ll find fresh local coffee, tea, cream, sugar, olive oil, vinegar, sea salt and pepper grinder, and many basic spices.
HOUSE RULES
Part of the charm of our spaces are their locations on quiet tree lined streets on the East End. Out of respect for our neighbors, other guests, and for us - all guests are required to agree to a few simple rules.

Bookings confirmed before 7/22/24 will be honored but strict adherence to all House Rules is required. If your group disturbs the peace you can be charged a noise fee starting at $100.
WEDDING GUESTS
Please pay close attention to the Quiet Hours and noise fee! We have had many problems with guests returning from a wedding and disturbing the peace, whether by loud voices in the apartment or in the street during Quiet Hours, or by slamming doors, or playing loud music.

PETS
Our pet rules come from experiencing many different styles of pet parenting. We’ve had to become progressively more strict. Please understand we are animal lovers first, and we often travel with our dog.
Our apartments are not daycare or boarding facilities. We REQUIRE that pets are taken care of in a way that prioritizes the pet, as well as the safety and peace of our other guests and neighbors. Please read all of the following rules and respond with your agreement to abide by all. Include the age, breed, name and temperament of your pet as well.
RULES FOR FURRY FAMILY MEMBERS
We love dogs and understand fear is a common reason for aggression - but we have a responsibility to other guests and neighbors, and we have insurance requirements. Therefore we do not accept aggressive dogs.
LEASH LAW
Dogs must be kept on leash when entering and exiting the property, and in all public places except where explicitly permitted.
ANXIETY AND NOISE
We have lots of experience with anxiety in pets. Anxious pets, left alone, are suffering, plain and simple, and we can’t allow that under our roofs for any amount of money. If you hope to bring your pet, he or she is expected to be a seasoned traveler, and remain quiet and calm when on our property.
If you intend to leave your pet alone in the apartment, we expect that you have experience leaving them alone in a strange place, and they’ve been able to remain calm and comfortable. You may leave your pet alone in our apartments for a maximum of two hours. After two hours you must return home and give them a break/walk/visit.
If your pet does make ongoing noise, we will call you. You will be REQUIRED to return to your apartment immediately to take care of your pet. You may be charged a noise fee of $100.
You MUST MONITOR YOUR PHONE, LEAVE YOUR PHONE ON, WITH RINGER VOLUME UP, AT ALL TIMES, whether you are in the apartment with your pet or having dinner out.
PUPPIES & CRATES
Crate-trained and fully house-trained puppies (up to 12 months old) are welcome, but may not be left alone in the space at all, and a crate is required.
Crates for adult dogs are not required but are strongly encouraged. We know from experience that crates not only prevent unwanted behaviors but they also provide security when in a strange place.
POTTY BREAKS
The courtyard and garden areas of our properties are off limits for potty breaks. Please take a nice stroll through our beautiful neighborhood instead. If you would like ideas for excursions with your dog, just ask! We would love to share our favorite dog-friendly spots with you. You can place pickup bags in the square black trash barrels located on the trash platform on the right side of our 62 Monument Street building.
BEDDING & FURNITURE
Please bring your pet’s bedding. Please keep pets off of the furniture. If your pet simply can’t be kept off furniture, please bring blankets to protect our furniture.
PET FEE
Pet fee: $50 pet fee per reservation for up to two pets for stays up to 4 nights. For longer stays, the pet fee is $50 per pet. The pet fee supports the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland and Portland Trails, two local organizations instrumental in animal welfare and outdoor access for dogs. You can pay the fee via Venmo (Kathy-Palmer)
DAMAGE OR EXTRA CLEANING
Just like anywhere else...any damage to our apartment or furnishings by your furry one will result in a damage fee to cover the cost of repair or replacement.
FINAL WORD
If you’ve read all of the above please let us know by agreeing to abide by all the rules and providing the pet’s name, breed, age and temperament along with the word ‘woof’ in your message.

Great location to city, nice neighborhood. The place worked well for us, really loved the kitchen island.

The apartment was lovely - spacious, comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen. Close to the port too. Check in was smooth.

I planned a 30th birthday surprise trip to Portland for my partner with his best friend and his fiancée. The four of us had a wonderful time staying at Kathy’s apartment - it is a perfect location on a quiet, cute neighborhood block, easy walking to the East end promenade and into the city, and we thoroughly enjoyed hanging out together and playing board games in the communal spaces. Great aesthetic and ambiance, too! I would definitely stay here again!

The apartment was very clean and very comfortable.

Overall ok but the linens and bed covers were old, frayed etc. We used the living room futon for guest #3 (it’s old and pleather) and found linens and a coverlet for it balled up on the floor in a closet, yuk, and the wrong size for it. Management did bring over replacements that evening. Hopefully new sheets and coverlets appear before the next rental. Be aware of all the stairs (2nd floor) if you have to drag suitcases up and down. And you have to stack cars for parking in the driveway by coordinating with other guests so there’s that. But if you’re in ok shape walking to town is ok but hilly.

We enjoyed staying in Portland at this rental. It was clean, well kept, and everything we needed was available. Walking distance to downtown.

Cute place! Great location on a quiet street. Walkable to the Old Port area.

My girlfriends and I got together for several days in Portland. This place was perfect for us. It provided us enough space and comfortable beds. The apartment was stocked well. We liked the neighborhood and felt safe. We were able to walk to most places. The few things we would recommend: the hall is prone to slips and needs something. Also the door to the bathroom is awkward with gaps. We were girlfriends and ok with each other but if we were mixed company this would not be ok. We would rent again. Thank you

Sister get together
I from Boston and sister and brother-in-law from Chicago had 2d and 3rd floor units. It was perfect for us, plus they had rooftop deck we all enjoyed. Fantastic views up there of Casco Bay and sunsets.

Great Location
This was the perfect place for exploring Portland. Communication with the host was great and they had lots of recommendations for us. Highly recommended!

Very cool flat
This flat is maintained very well. The host is very attentive to every request. She goes above and beyond to make one feel comfortable. It’s really clean, the beds are very comfortable, and the temperature is easily controlled between warm and cool.
The kitchen has everything you need but minimalist in nature. Sweet little porch balcony off the kitchen.
The only thing to note is it’s not located centrally in downtown. It’s a little under a mile walk to the ferry and a bit hilly. Fine for most unless you are like us and have a teen with some mobility issues.
Overall we stayed here again as the host and flat are both wonderful!

Great location
Cute apartment in a great location! Nice and clean and easy to get to. This was a perfect spot for my family to stay so we could visit my son who just moved to Portland. Indoor barn doors are stylish but don’t offer a huge amount of privacy for the bathroom. It wasn’t that big of a deal, but just a heads up. Lots of outdoor dining close to this spot - awesome food! Definitely recommend a stay!

Quirky and cool place in a great location.
Property was exactly as advertised. Property manager was friendly and responsive. Location is great for easy access to downtown and just a few blocks from the Eastern Promenade, which offers great views of the bay.

Excellent location with plenty of space!
This was a perfect spot for our family Christmas. We had room to open presents, play game, and cook in the kitchen.
We walked almost everywhere we went. It was close to some of the best eateries, breweries, and shops in Portland.
I highly recommend this property!

This was the end of our vacation and a delightful end. This is a wonderful appointed residence. In fact, we ordered the bedroom rug for our own house while we were there.

Fantastic East End Location
We stayed on the 2nd floor of this three floor building and loved it. Location is close to anything you could want including restaurants and local activities. The thing that made it stand out is the owner, Kathy. She’s friendly, communicative, and works to make sure her guests have a great experience. Would stay here again anytime! Thanks, Kathy. 🙂

Warm and welcoming
The apartment was nestled in a residential East side neighborhood which made us feel as part of the community. Close to restaurants, grocery and breweries. Very comfortable accommodations and walking distance to the Old Port. Kathy, our host, was very helpful with recommendation and communication. I wished would could of stayed an extra day or two to see all the attractions Portland had to offer.

Perfect place to stay while visiting Portland
This is a fun property that is walking distance to many shops and restaurants. We had 4 women share the space and it worked out perfectly. Kathy was a delight to deal with.

Beautiful Space!
This apartment is very beautiful and was in the perfect location. Kathy was very helpful and checking in and out was incredibly easy! Beds were comfy and the apartment was clean and well maintained.
The only thing to note is that the bathroom and a bedroom door have sliding barn style doors which leave a gap. From certain angles you can see into these rooms which wasn't much of a concern for me but other guests may feel otherwise.
