The Blue Rose Cottage is an oceanfront single-family house located at the mouth of Netarts Bay and Hodgdon Creek, near Oceanside and Tillamook, Oregon. The cottage overlooks the Pacific Ocean, Netarts Bay, and the Oregon Islands Wildlife Refuge. The Blue Rose is a spacious one bedroom cottage on a bluff over the beach - with lots of windows and spectacular views. You can walk from the cottage directly to the ocean beach on our private path, or lounge on our deck, which overlooks the Pacific.
The cottage has a queen size bed in a separate bedroom, and a queen size fold out couch in the living room with a very comfortable coil spring mattress, plus a smaller fold out couch and 2 sleeping pads that young children often enjoy sleeping on.
The area features some excellent restaurants, lots of wildlife, state parks, and many other different types of activities. Seals nest on sandbars offshore from the cottage, Great Blue Heron fish in the waters off our beach, Pelicans sail in the sky, and in the summer wild roses and lilies bloom in the yards. The area is known for Dungeness crabbing, fresh clams and oysters, fishing and whale watching, and is part of the Three Capes Scenic Route.
Netarts is a quiet, non-touristy village of a few hundred people. It's one of the closest beaches to Portland, Oregon (75 miles, or a 90 minute drive). There is a small grocery store a short walk from the cottage. Major services are available eight miles away in Tillamook.
We allow pets, with permission and with payment of a wear-n-tear fee. The local beaches are "pet friendly" and are almost never crowded.

Guests loved the beautiful views, beach access, comfortable beds, and well-stocked cottages. They enjoyed the quiet location and proximity to local attractions, making memorable experiences and planning to return.

This was a fabulous location with an amazing view of Netarts bay.
The private stairs down to the beach were great, but for those with mobility issues or old dogs it it steep, with a lot of stairs.
The house is rustic, but charming.
Hummingbirds visited the flowers outside the living room window every day. Spotting scope available to watch the pelicans fishing and the seals.
There was a musty smell in the bedroom, but that's not surprising as its carpeted and has the washer/dryer in the closet. We lit candles and had windows open most of the stay.
Parking for 2 vehicles. Area was quiet during our stay.
No dishwasher, no scrub brush or dish cloth for cleaning dishes. Many of the dishes in the cupboards were poorly washed before being replaced.
Shower stall is small, wouldn't suit a larger person. Plenty of hot water.
Living space is open but cozy, with comfortable furniture.
I'd happily return to this property in future.

Excellent location! The cottage has all that is needed for a short stay. My wife and I would definitely tell other about the Blue Rose Cottage.
A friendly suggestion: When sending driving directions to the cottage, a sentence like the one below could be added.
"2nd street turns into 3rd street." or "2nd street becomes 3rd street."
Thank you so much, Mr. Coates. We had a wonderful stay at the Blue Rose Cottage.

This was a great little cottage with an excellent view of the ocean. It was nice having the stairs down to the beach.
Very quiet. Everything was just as expected from the vrbo site.

We have loved staying at this property and the one next door for the last few years. Beautiful views and a private walkway down to the beach. I would recommend either home for families wanting to adventure in the bay (long walks on the sand, crabbing etc). Thanks for sharing your home with us as we were able to create memories that we will remember for years to come.

We enjoyed our stay . The views were spectacular. The stairs down to the beach were like walking through a secret fairy path. There was a local grocery within walking distance that had a little bit of everything. I would recommend stopping in Tillamook for most of your grocery needs.
The bed was comfortable. There were no shades on a couple of the windows which made it very warm in the afternoon.

We enjoyed our stay here. Celebrating our 40th anniversay and visiting this area for the first time, this was conveniently located to be able to see and do all we had planned. The cottage was comfortable, well stocked with all we needed. Following the owners suggestions, we did the 3 Cape loop, and had dinners at Schooners and Rosanna's. Very relaxing weekend. Thanks!

We had a wonderful time! The cottage was just the perfect size for us and our 2 kids. They slept on the pull-out couch. Everything was clean. We LOVED the short walk down to the beach. Clammed from the beach directly in front of the house and we just had the best time. Can't wait to come back. Thanks!

We enjoyed our time in Netarts, the cabin was amazing with a perfect view of the Netarts bay.
4.0
A very cozy, well-equipped cabin in a perfect location in Netarts, at the end of a quiet street right above the water, with sweeping ocean views from the deck. The owner was extremely prompt and helpful in his communications, and even offered us early check-in without an extra fee.
The only thing we really missed was a wood stove! The power was out when we arrived due to a winter storm in the area, and we were without heat or light for over 12 hours. Needless to say, a wood stove would have helped a lot. Other than that, we have a wonderful stay!

The house was very clean - the view amazing. We will definitely revisit this place in the future. Only suggestions I can make is I wish they would get a screen door for the patio so it could be open and not let in flies. The shower was a bit tight for me at 6'0. But the bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked. The sofas are starting to show their age but still good - wish there was an ottoman.

The cottage was beautiful inside & out. We loved being so close to the ocean. My only wish was I had more time. Will definitely recommend family come visit & stay here. Thank you so much for the hospitality.

Very clean
The cabin was as clean as you can get for an older cabin. And it's great that it allows pets, but unfortunately it's not really pet friendly, on a cliff with steep steps to the shore, and no lawn. The view is very nice. Cupboards need repairs. Typically the pots and pans are very worn, which is true for most rentals. Very nice dishes. Everything needed is there. Nice furniture and comfortable bed. Good for a young couple without kids or pets. Check in is 3:00 but cleaner was still there until after 4:00, due to previous messy renters. She did a great job!

I keep coming back
I love staying at this little cottage and the great views from the deck and the private access to the beach.

Great view and location
We had a great time at the Blue Rose Cabin. We took the trail right in front of the cabin to the beach. Our dog loved running and chasing balls on the beach. The views from the cabin are amazing! It is a great place to stay.

Private with beautiful views
We have loved Netarts since discovering it many years ago on our honeymoon. It is so lovely and quiet with friendly locals if you wish to engage. The beaches are uncrowded and miles long with so much to explore. I must say that of all the places we have stayed over the years this is our favorite. It just felt like home.

Views...Private...Perfect...oh my!
We couldn't be happier that we rented Doug's cottage. The views are not overrated! Since that's in every review (rightfully so) I'll highlight some of the other things we loved. We have a dog that doesn't love other dogs. So, the private setting and access to the beach were perfect for us! Everything is as described so really read the details. Knowing it only had a toaster oven we planned ahead with things that fit in a toaster oven. We loved the rustic feel of the cottage. The interior wood was a real treat! It looks to be cedar walls with pine ceilings. We hope to return!

Great amenities and amazing view
This is house is nothing fancy but we are not a fancy family. But the amenities and view are amazing. We would sit on the back deck every night and watch the sunset (as long as the could would cooperate). It is a short hike down the stairs behind the property to get to the beach. The house is surrounded by beautiful flowers, trees, and bushes and you dont even realize there are other houses and people around you. There is also a small market just a quick walk down the street from the house. I would definitely stay at this property again.

Perfect spot for a quiet weekend getaway
We had a lovely time watching the tides change, walking on the beach and enjoying local seafood @ this lovely little cottage. Our pup had a grand time as well. The bed was huge and really comfortable. The location is quiet but close to Oceanside and Tillamook for any outings. We would definitely rent again.

Great time, one glitch
Place was comfortable and view is beautiful. It was not ready when we got there at 4:30 and had to drive around for 30 minutes before cleaning was finished. Other than that, it was great.

Nice view
The view from the rental is a pretty one, right over the bay and ocean. The house is a bit dated and definitely quaint, so it’s most suited for those seeking a simple place.

Just what we were looking for!
The Blue Rose was perfect for my kid, dog, and I to get away to the beach. Amazing views off the deck and the beach just down the stairs makes for a lovely getaway - we plan to return!

Cozy little house, great view of the bay. Clean and comfortable would book again!

Funky and Fun
This little cottage is sweet. It is clean and neat. It is really only for two people. It sits on a bluff above the ocean. The views are spectacular and there is a steep private staircase to the beach. It is quiet. The king bed is wonderful and it has two smart TV's and cable. The wifi is fast. There is no dishwasher and no oven (there is a small toaster oven on the counter and a BBQ outside). Nice spotting scope/tripod. The deck is very nice, big, lots of seating. The bathroom is at the opposite side of the cottge from the bedroom, which is odd. But all in all it is really a gem, and we'll return.

Charismatic cottage with a great view
Blue Rose Cottage was perfect. It’s a comfortable, well-equipped, cozy space from which the mouth of Netarts Bay is on full display. We cooked every night, filling ourselves on fresh local seafood that came from the bay and watching the tides change from the deck was fascinating. We enjoyed the humming birds through the huge picture window when wildfire smoke kept us inside, and appreciated the games and TV as well. Doug gave us great advice for places to visit along the coast. This is a great spot.

Great view and kind owners
We had a great visit to Netarts. The highlight of this rental are the great views and the front deck, where we were able to read, nap, and enjoy the ocean in privacy. The house is quaint and in a quiet neighborhood. There are lots of great beaches to visit nearby, and the trail down to the bay in front of the house is magical. We were able to navigate it easily, in spite of prior knee and back injuries. The bed is very comfortable.
