About this house rental
Big Red's Cabin is a ski in-ski out cabin in Angel Fire, NM. You will enjoy this 2800 sq ft home that is located on one acre, directly on the Headin' Home ski run. This smoke-free cabin sleeps 10 in the 3 bedrooms plus an oversized bunkroom. A large great room, kitchen, master suite, laundry room and half bath are on the main level. The master suite includes a TV, king bed, laundry room, and large master bath. The cabin's lower level has two bedrooms, 2 baths, the bunkroom, ski/mud room, and a laundry room. The bunkroom includes two twin over twin bunks, sofa, TV, DVD, and Wii.
Enjoy the big 530 sq ft deck off the living room and master suite. Take in nature and hopefully catch some visitors as we often have deer and elk on the property.
The cabin is approximately 30 yards from the ski run. You can sit on one of the two decks or look out the large windows and watch the skiers go by.
Guests are responsible for all consumable items. We do have a propane grill, we fill the tank several times a year, but cannot guarantee the tanks to be full at all times.

This was our 2nd time at the cabin and it was just as good as we remembered! Great location and easy on and off the trails. Kiddos had a blast with all the snow . If you are looking for a family friendly location you have to check this place out!

The location of the house was superb. Beautiful views with nightly deer visits! The ski in and ski out was priceless and I won’t be able to stay somewhere without that feature now. We are spoiled! Beds were comfy with plenty of options. Bathrooms were spacious and having 2 laundry rooms was very convenient while traveling with the entire family. Kitchen was nicely stocked. Extra bedding would have been nice but not a reason to not book!

We love this cabin so much. There is no other place we'd rather stay. We love the ease of getting to and from the slopes. We love the cabin. Everything is nice and clean. No problems at all. Thank you!

Beautiful Property
The house was beautiful and offered more than what we needed to have a comfortable stay. The property is right off the resort and we could watch some of the mountain bikers pass by on the trail yet it was still very peaceful. Thanks you Tamika and Nick, for letting us enjoy your space!

Thanksgiving 2021
Big Red’s Cabin was the perfect setting for our “vacay Thanksgiving.” It was our first time away from home for this holiday and we could not have chosen a better cabin for our family Thanksgiving!
Every detail of the cabin in the description is accurate and had the slopes been open, would have made a perfect ski-in/out destination! We were able to enjoy snow, however, and the kids had a great time sledding, both on the property and on the slope, a few feet away.
We would like to REINFORCE the recommendation for a 4WD vehicle AND chains, as the driveway is particularly steep and snow particularly slick. Our 4WD did great, until it didn’t, and we would definitely recommend chains!
The downstairs set-up is ideal for a bunch of kids and/or combined families. The snow mudroom is a total plus for winter sports and the garage is great for unloading and loading for large groups. The master suite is private and relaxing and the gathering space and fireplace is super for togetherness!
Angel Fire has an excellent grocery store with very reasonable prices which made our stay easy, as provisions were just a short drive down the mountain from the cabin. Special highlights were snow :) and seeing deer and (I’m not kidding) an elk herd of about 75 strong coming up El Camino Real road one evening. We especially enjoyed this encounter!
We would love to return one day during ski season, as this property is ideal for skiers!

The only thing I didn’t notice about the property was the elevation of around 9,600 feet. It bothered a few of us but it wasn’t so bad that we couldn’t handle the discomfort.

We had an overall great spring break vacation in Angel Fire. The house location was fantastic, right on the slope! The house itself was perfect for our family and young kids. They especially liked the Wii in the kid's bunk room.
Unfortunately, we encountered some pretty pungent sewer smells coming from the septic tank right off the back of the property. It seemed to get worse as our stay progressed, where by the end, we weren't able to enjoy the back deck at the end of our day of skiing. I imagine this will resolve itself once it gets pumped as we were most likely the last group of the ski season.
Overall, I would enthusiastically stay here again, if the septic is dealt with.

This is a true ski-in and out property. House is great. Deer greeted us every morning. Driveway was challenging for all of our 4WD vehicles but we did it! Ceiling in master bed had some leaks due to roof issues, but owner responded promptly. I would highly recommend this place!

Wonderful property
beautiful property right on the slope. Ski in, ski out. We visited in the summertime and deer slept in the backyard. It was a truly relaxing and enchanting experience. House was layer out perfectly for the intended use. Upstairs and downstairs laundry facilities. Great place to enjoy some needed downtime.

Beautiful Cabin On the Mountain
This cabin is truly spectacular. I can't emphasize enough how much we loved staying here. There is a lot of space (2 adults, 3 kids in our group) and we really enjoyed just relaxing on the large back deck watching the deer. I would love to stay here in the winter for skiing, since the access to the slopes is right behind the house. We would absolutely stay here again!

Mountain Greatness
Our stay could not have been any better...we had three families and a total of 10 people(6 adults and 4 kids) vacationing together in Angel Fire...the cabin was spacious and very clean...it provided a large common space for all to gather and areas for each family to get off by themselves...be aware that the cabin is 25 minute drive up the mountain on a dirt road, but the view and solitude are well worth it...this is truly a 5 star property,

Beautiful setting
The home was as described, well appointed and comfortable. Views and privacy were as described - the owner was responsive to emails and prompt. Two minor issues - the grill was out of propane and rather than having a property manager check those things or having a spare arranged we were told we were out of luck, she fills it twice a year and if it runs out it is out of her control. She indicated that she provides no consumable items like paper towels and toilet paper. For paying over 300 a night expecting toilet paper and propane availability isn’t out if line. We had two people but were charged the same cleaning fee as if she had 12 people stay there which also seemed a little cheap on the part of the owner- the house was generally clean but there was a fair amount of dust on flooring- not sure they are getting our money’s worth from the cleaning company- beyond that for a summer stay it nice but probably will look elsewhere next time - when you drop over 800 for two nights I don’t want to worry about toilet paper and propane.

Excellent property.
My sons and I snowboarded and quickly realized we could snowboard to and from the ground floor deck. Well thought out and designed home. Home was comfortable. Driveway is steep however no issues with 4 wheel drive Expedition. Angel Fire received between 30-40" of snow while we were there and snow plow plowed driveway each day.

This cabin is beautiful! Highly recommend! We went during the labor day holiday so the weather was perfect. This cabin has everything you need. The driveway is a little steep so if you do decide to go during the winter season take a vehicle with 4 wheel drive. This cabin is very roomy and very homey! Will definitely stay here again!

This cabin was great! Easy access for mountain biking. We enjoyed the large double decker porch. Super comfy beds and plenty of room Tamika was a great host and easy to reach.

Great Cabin
The cabin is great. The pictures make the den area look smaller than it really is. We had two families with a total of 7 teenagers and 4 adults and had plenty of room. It is a true ski in and ski out, and is on one of the runs that is always open (even if the resort is forced to make a bunch of snow as is the case this year). The driveway is steep, but the owners had it plowed each time it snowed, so as long as you have a 4 wheel drive, there should be no issue. The master suite is nice and spacious. There are three bedrooms downstairs: (i) bunk room with two sets of bunk beds, love seat and TV/Wii, (ii) bedroom with a queen, and (iii) bedroom with a queen and one set of bunk beds which has a connecting bath. There is a separate bathroom for the bunk room and the bedroom with just the queen. The rooms downstairs are not huge, but the space is efficient. I thought the mud room downstairs worked well. There is a long bench, so there is room for taking off boots after skiing and shelves and hooks for ski gear. If we go back, we will stay here again.

Awesome Cabin!
Our 11 family members (7 adults and 4 children) stayed at Big Red's Cabin over Christmas Break and it was wonderful. There was plenty of room for everyone and the place was very, very clean. The place is very roomy with lots of sleeping room and room to spread out. We are definitely interested in doing this trip again another year. Fingers crossed for more snow next time!

Angel Fire Trail Riding Weekend
We loved this house! It was beautiful and perfect for our needs, we even had extra space. The only negative I would say about this property is that it was a littler farther up the mountain then we were used to staying, but with it being ski in ski out it makes perfect sense. From the main road into Angel Fire it was 15 mins to the house up the mountain. Other than that little longer of a drive everything was great! We saw elk and deer on the drive up to the house and elk in the mornings in the back yard. The view on your drive up to the house was fantastic too. Once you got up a little higher you could see the whole village It was great. We would all definitely stay there again!

Awesome Cabin in a Great Location
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this wonderful cabin/home. This is beautiful location that backs up to a ski run and forest. Very quiet property with deer and elk roaming the through the yard. Being the spring and wonderful weather, our group enjoyed exploring and hiking the surrounding area. The cabin/home has a great layout with the large master upstairs with the kitchen and living area. All the other bedrooms are downstairs with easy access to 2 bathrooms and the garage. Worked wonderfully for our family group of 8 including 2 young children. The cabin/home is furnished nicely and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Everything was clean and welcoming when we arrived. We could not have asked for a better place to enjoy our Angel Fire vacation. Thank you for sharing!!

Wonderful Ski-in Ski-Out Home
Our family and another family shared this beautiful home over Spring Break! It was the perfect size, nice and open upstairs. The beds were comfortable. Everything was very clean! The mudroom was so convenient for dumping all of our boots and wet clothes. The kids played outside in the snow for hours after each day of skiing. Just being able to ski right onto the slopes each morning and then straight back to the house for lunch or at the end of the day made it all that much better! Highly recommend!!
