About this house rental

The house: Del Mar Château is a large country house nestled on a forested fresh water creek with two acres of blue sky privacy. The Château is three stories, seven bedrooms, and four bathrooms. The master suite and master bathroom are located on the first floor with french doors leading to the outside Jacuzzi/hot tub! A spacious foyer and library with fireplace greet you as you enter the Château. The great room/dining area, chef's kitchen, bathroom and laundry room and pantry complete the first floor.

The second floor has one large bathroom and four very spacious bedrooms; one with a beautiful fireplace. The third floor hosts a large bedroom and game room with game/pool table and a fourth bathroom. All rooms of the Château have spectacular territorial views.

The neighborhood: Del Mar Château is located just three minutes from downtown Gig Harbor in picturesque Crescent Valley. The Château is close to Gig Harbor's restaurants, shopping, and kayak rental. Private parking for 8 cars, the Château is off of a private driveway. Tacoma is 15 minutes away, Seattle 60 minutes.

The Garden: The spacious front porch has relaxing rocking chairs to enjoy the lawn, Douglas Firs and native northwest landscaping. The two tiered rear deck has a private covered gazebo great for entertaining with BBQ and outdoor living room seating. You'll want to enjoy the 6 person hot tub with garden views.

The "Del Mar Chateau" consisted of many very large rooms with lots of futons and couches in each room. Tons of games are in most rooms, including parts of many video game consoles (didn't get a chance to try them out), and even a box of Duplos and other kid toys, which the littles loved. The space fit our 3-generation family well. We had a broken shower head, and someone came to fix it the next day. The AC worked great on the 1st and 2nd floors in the hot summer; the 3rd story was really hot, (even with the AC running and the fan they brought for us), but if you stay in the fall or spring, you should be okay. The outdoor space was great, with the gazebo (fan didn’t work), porch, play structure, and field. We weren't able to use the hot-tub, because the breaker kept tripping so it wasn't hot whenever we wanted to use it and water smelled bad. The kitchen was stocked with tons of stuff (although disorganized, a lot of expired pantry items, and non-stick pans were in rough shape). Our family really enjoyed the outdoor spaces and having space for all our family members.

Our stay was perfect, great place for large groups and entertaining. This was our 2nd stay here and we loved it. Space for everyone, indoors and out, well stocked kitchen and towels too, peaceful and private but close to town...we loved it. Looking forward to staying again in the future!

Stayed here for the 4th of July weekend with some friends and it was an awesome stay. Plenty of space for everyone, great outdoor spaces for some grilling and lawn games, and close enough to town to go in for lunch/dinner and hang out by the water. Would absolutely stay here again!

Absolutely beautiful place! This is a very private location in the forest. The yard was huge and we had a blast playing outdoor games. The jacuzzi was perfect for relaxing in the evening. Every room in this home is huge and spacious. The kitchen had everything we needed. We would definitely recommend this place and would love to come back!

The home is beautiful The property is gorgeous. I will say due to the heavy rains we had this weekend we did not get out and enjoy outside, but the home inside is so warm and cozy we Didn’t feel like we missed out on anything will be renting this home again next year.

One thing to be aware of: only 1 bathroom on 2nd floor, shared by 4 bedrooms; though there is an extra bathroom on main floor. Worked fine for us, but something to be aware of. Highly recommend! We stayed in this lovely property for a woman's retreat. This was perfect house and location for us. The rooms are spacious and well equipped. We loved the fireplaces and the fire pit, the super well appointed and equipped kitchen and the very comfortable beds and common areas. The house was warm even on cold evenings.

Usually we rent a house when we need a place to stay but this time it turned out to be a home. With the well supplied kitchen, a play structure outside for kids, the piano in the living room and a great selection of games, we were at home once we came through the door. Sometimes it’s the little things like plenty of toilet paper, laundry and dishwasher products, lots of dishes, pots and pans, bakeware and eating utensils that make feel at home during the day. At night the large bedrooms with decent beds along with the very quiet location of this home made for good sleep for all of us. We would definitely come back again!

This was a wonderful location for our family. We had eight adults, a toddler and 7-month-old - plus of course the family dog. This house had so much room and privacy for everyone. It was spotless. It is on a huge lot. Even though there are homes nearby you feel a sense of complete privacy. At night it was quiet and tranquil. There were lots of indoor and outdoor games and toys for children. One suggestion: if you want to use the hot tub check the temperature. We waited until the last night and it wasn't hot enough. The entire family recommends this location.

We booked Erika’s beautiful home for a family reunion of 10 people and one dog. The house was more than large enough for all of us and completely outfitted. The setting is private and peaceful and you barely knew you had neighbors. Our dog loved the yard and we had many lovely evenings enjoying the hot tub, yard games and fire pit. We rented the property for our sons Gig Harbor wedding on July 2nd, and we were traveling from LA/OC. We had our two additional adult married children, granddaughter, and best friends with us. With the 7 bedrooms, living space, library/study, open kitchen and family room the space made this perfect for our final wedding planning prep, and of course the beds for our group. Pics on VRBO don’t do the layout and space justice. It was perfect! Erika and Jay (property owners) make the check in very easy, and they’re only a few minutes away in case you need anything, and their response is phenomenal! We did have an incident that was no one’s fault! Things happen (well pump went out while we were headed to the wedding Saturday afternoon). Erika and Jay responded immediately and kept us updated into the evening. This is something no one has control over and they handled this extremely well (no pun intended). We left on Sunday morning and they had already got the new pump, had their well guy on site, and it was a Sunday holiday weekend (July 4th). With water out we felt bad leaving the towels and bedding not started on Sunday morning, but we talked with Erika and also wanted to make sure they didn’t have to rush to do the repairs during the holiday weekend. This is a great property, a great owner, and we found a gem for our family and will return. This is perfect for a family! Thank you Erika and Jay! Beautiful home. Dave for the Fernandez Family

We had 10 people who came to stay at the chateau and it couldn’t have been more perfect. We all had our own place to settle in for the week, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and we loved the close proximity to the town. The pictures online are exactly as it is in person, if not more beautiful in person. We all said that if/when we return to the PNW, we will most definitely stay here again.

Exactly what my family and I wanted and more! The pictures do not do this place justice, it is a private wooded paradise with so many wonderful amenities and they provide you with everything you need to enjoy it all! Hot tub, fire wood for the fire pit, lighter, bbq and two propane tank, an abundance of rooms with beds, futons, bedding, and even everything you need to cook and clean! Could not have asked for a better location for our stay!
